View Full Version : I love dressing but, don't like PANTIES!

Like a lot of us here we don't know why we LOVE to dress.
I love to dress as FEM as much as posable but what's under the dress is only for shaping.
When I was in my teens I had a lot of lingerie and panties but now I have no lingerie or panties, just a lot of dresses, wigs and all in ones to hold forms
What is it like for you?

I own panties, lots of them, and have absolutely no interest in going back to men's underwear.

I never liked panties. I know this will get me some booos, but I thought they were somewhat silly and impracticable.
I wear leggings, also leggings cut down to shorts. Sometimes I cut a pair of opaque tights into shorts to wear under jeans. Or if I wear a dress just a pair of black tights underneath.

I always wear panties, specially under my shapewear. That way I can wear the shapewear more than once between washings.

Panties are such a fundamental female thing I cannot believe any of us does not wear them. Even if they are white cotton they are still panties, that said I do love the nylon and microfiber ones. Any panties are better then no panties!

What an interesting post, Judy! It only goes to show how we're all different in so many ways--in spite of many (often mistaken) assumptions about how we're "all the same."
If we want to "dress feminine," no matter what our reasons for doing so, then panties seem so quintessentially feminine for more reasons than one. The bra comes close, of course. Only women wear bras, so bras too are exclusively feminine. When it comes to outer clothing, silks, satins, lace, skirts and dresses have never been reserved exclusively to women; not in previous centuries at least. Most men wore "robes" until recent centuries, even if the Romans called them "togas." Manly Greek soldiers wore "skirts" in classical times, and Scotsmen still wear them today, though they'd be insulted if we called them that instead of by their proper name, "kilts." But panties: not only are they the essence of femininity: silky, lacy, delicate--but their erotic assocation with the most intimate part of the female body places them at the top of the list for most crossdressers. Especially--but by no means limited to!--those for whom fetishism reigns supreme. Panties seem like the sine qua non of feminine crossdressing.
So to me at any rate, it's interesting to hear from a CD to whom panties don't mean much! I'm wondering how this works. For me, it ties in with the MIAD concept--something I've been trying to understand, because it "doesn't seem to fit" with so many of our (all right, read "my") assumptions about why we love to crossdress.
All I can say is that sometimes it's the outward appearance of femininity that seems more important to some. And the inside doesn't matter. I'm not pretending this is the same thing, but it's like asking what a Scotsman wears under his kilt! Is it Jockey shorts, or boxers? I'm sure he feels just as much a man in spite of wearing a "skirt," with a weapon--a dirk--at his belt. Could he be one example of a MIAD?
Again, I'm not saying that's the same thing as what anyone else feels about the delight of wearing "flowing" clothing--whether we see it as "feminine" or not.
Yet I have to add from personal experience that often it is the outward appearance of femininity that first attracts us. Lots of people here say they started off by getting into panties and bras, and that's what first attracted them. But it isn't true for everybody, and it wasn't true for me either. My first truly "crossdressing" experience was the urge to put on my mother's skirt, when I was about thirteen or so. That really got me turned on.
Mind you, that soon led to other things, and it wasn't long before I was into all her other clothes. Blouses and bras, dresses, slips, girdle and nylons... and of course, the supremely delicious experience of her panties! I wanted the "whole thing." And today, while I enjoy wearing a skirt around the house, it doesn't seem complete without panties underneath.
Just the same, I have to admit external appearance is important to me--wearing a skirt or dress for instance--I don't go around for any length of time in just bra and panties--so I do see your point that a dress alone can be just enough for some, even without panties underneath. To each their own!

Yea, Judy! Finally a pantie thread I'll comment in!
I don't get the thrill from women's panties, unless u wear skimpy, sexy ones like thongs! No one but u knows you're wearing them. If u DO wear sexy ones they'll go nuclear on u. (Fall out!)
If u wear full coverage, granny style, u mite as well wear tidy whities!
The only reason I wear them is to hold my tuck. And, I could care less what color, cut, or shabby condition they're in. As long as they do their job!
I have a number of dressing fetishes. But, panties ain't one of them!:tongueout

Mainly to hold a tuck and not for some made up "it makes me feel feminine" reason.
They are just underwear to me and not something magical that will transform me into a woman.

If I'm wearing a lose skirt in summer, I tend to go commando.
Panties really if I need "tucking" or if my skirt is tight.
I no longer find them sexy, just functional.

I do not wear lipstick or dresses, I do wear skirt at home only, I do not go out dress as a Woman because I am not, however I do wear Women's underwear mainly Panties and I love doing it. I mostly own Panties and my collection it getting bigger and bigger, in general I love wearing Lingerie under my Clothes, I wear Brassiere under my Shirt these Days.

Oh Tracii, I feel for many of us here it is a very important part of our everyday life. I have not seen any posts where someone said that it was magical enough to transform them into womanhood.

Finally a pantie thread I feel I can comment on. I am not a pantie freak despite owning rather a lot. I have a lot of very plain ones - no lace or pattern - not even a lace trim on the elastic. I find the more comfortable than male underwear - there might be something about the shape of my undercarriage that makes me look better in a dress than trousers that translates into the cut of panties. I find lace ones uncomfortable and avoid them but generally I would say the fabric and the cut of big panties is good for comfort. Someone said that modern male underwear is becoming less clunky. It must be 20 years since I have even looked at male underwear so might check it out then next time I am in the city. I have about five pairs of male briefs that I wear in certain situations but probably in panties all day every day 350 days a year.

I have boy shorty panties that I treat as male underwire, even putting them in the same drawer. They are great, and I don?t have to worry about them being seen or doctor trips. I usually tuck when wearing them.
Having said that, I do enjoy panties, even thongs IF they can allow me to tuck without taping.

I wear panties whenever I do dress up because I want the full fem experience when I do dress up. Basically, whenever it's time to dress up, all the male stuff comes off including undergarments and get replaced with female undergarments. Even if I'm going into a day where I could potentially dress up, I'll wear them for the day... but by the end of the day, I'll switch back. It's probably partly why I don't underdress as often as I used to, and even then it was mostly weekends only.

Truly this is a good example of the diversity on the CD world. We are not a one size fits all group, which is probably a very good thing. I do wonder how much effect the first female item we put on influenced the way we look at how we dress today? How I am today is directly related to my beginnings, which was panties and then lingerie, etc. I guess the most important thing is that we are getting enjoyment from what we are doing.
Amelie
10-12-2019, 11:13 AM
What you say Gillian is correct in my situation.
I didn't start out with women's underwear like some did. I started out with the make up first. I wore a tshirt and tight jeans and sneakers but I had my face done with make up the first time I went out. So today it is the make up that comes first for me. It is what I enjoy most.

I think my wife's view of panties is akin to many on this thread; functionality. She only has Hane's cotton white briefs. A long time ago when I was looking for a floor length full slip to go under a dress a sales associate told me women view undergarments as something not to be seen. I found that somewhat interesting and in conflict with my wife's choices of undergarments at THAT time, not now. Colorful bras and panties and colorful slips. Sort of the packaging at Christmas time. Pretty wrapping paper to get at the gift inside? Seduction of the male? I cannot image a pair of ratty panties and a well worn beige bra is going to have the same effect as a pretty panty and bra set.
Perhaps is comes down to the woman I would want to be. In the animal world plumage has a lot to do with attracting a mate. One of the complaints women had in the old communist nations of the past was the bland functional clothing. Shed the communist ideology and they have run amok with bright plumage. Due to male body type I find some styles uncomfortable and lacking functionality, but, that does not preclude seeking out colorful panties to wear under my dress.

I own bras and panties. Do I like them? NO. I wear them when I am going out dressed (even for 5 minutes) so they give me the shape of a woman (bra) if anyone sees me, it will make them question what exactly they saw. If I am dressing a round the house, I usually do the bra but never the panties. A lot of the time the bra is a no go also. I just don't see the need to wear them.

I agree with you completely Judy. No lingerie/panty obsession here. They’re purely practical for me as well. I dress to be seen and, well, if I’m doing it right, no one sees my panties. I do still own several pairs, but that’s just because male underwear isn’t usually as seamless/lineless as I need it to be for some of my looks.

For me pantie are more of a necessity then a want. Boy underwear always seams to still give a buldge makeing it harder to look fem in a skirt. And boxers are no under skirts. So i wear panties.

Life would be damn drafty without panties especially on those days when one has no need for tights!.
Lingerie is for me a normal part of my life without it is there not a part of feminity gone walkabout?
Do GG forsake underwear no? because it is a necessary part of life. If we for the lost part were not CD would we not be wearing underwear? yes of course we would so why when we dress and epitomise a woman why then should we consider that womens lingerie is not needed at all because it cannot be seen or for whatever other reason.
Lingerie is a very neededy part of my wardrobe one without the other seems out of place for me.

I no longer own any men's underwear. I find panties are less bulky than any men's brief I have owned. The outward appearance is not an issue because they don't show through anything. But I do know panties feel better next to my skin, so they make me feel more girly on the inside.

in my youth I loved to wear a thong but OMG how impractical is that LOL.
Now I have a few boyshorts and hipsters but realistically I am wearing a shaper with pads. I want those hips to shine! The evolution continues....

Judy,
So what is your basic underwear , panties or Yfronts ?
I use very little shaping only something to give my bust a boost , the panties aren't skimpy because I need them plus a pair of control panties to keep things tucked out of sight .
I still miss very much the retail shops selling brands like Charnos , the styles and colours really were to die for , I still have them and on occasions love to wear the complete matching set but they are wearing out and there's no replacements . Nowdays underwear is far more practical if not a little dull , the bras have to perform a certain function depending on the top layer , my camis and slip make the clothes sit better , I admit I still prefer suspenders and stockings but have to accept colder weather means thicker opaque tights . To dress everyday has to be more on a practical level .

I love panties and wear them every day, except on few occasions, when I have to undress in front of other people who don't know about my crossdressing. I also love to wear bodysuits and wear them as often as possible without outing myself with that. I just can't imagine to go back to wearing man's underwear.

I love panties and wear them whenever I can. I would wear them all the time, but it's hard to wear them without my wife seeing me put them on. She would be quite upset, and probably demand that I take them off. If she knew that I was doing it at all, she probably conduct an undies check every time I went out.
It's not that it's against the boundaries we agreed to. I don't think she thought of putting it in. I don't want to have to renegotiate boundaries.
I don't think I could feel girly without panties. When I haven't been able to dress for a while, putting on a pair of panties can calm me down for a day or two.
Buying panties is one of my favorite forms of retail therapy. There's always something new to try, and I can get 2 or 3 for $10 from the sales rack at Kohls. Friday, my wife was going to be gone just long enough for the Ninja to wash and dry a load of panties. I counted 125 panties in my dirty laundry hideout, and just barely got them done before she came home.

I can't imagine getting dressed and wearing men's underwear! Seems so.....crude to me. I have an image of a sexy woman, dressed to kill, with a old worn out, baggy, stained pair of men's tighty whities on under the dress.
Now on the other hand I still wear men's underwear, but most of mine are a bit on the flashy side. All colors, tight and skimpy, but with the proper cut to cuddle the boys. I do not own one pair of the standard issue Hanes briefs.
One thing I dislike about panties, having rooms for the boys, I am a bit over average size wise and tend to be more of a "shower" than a grower so I need some room to keep it all in place and most panties are not designed for that.

I'm surprised the panty patrol didn't raid this thread! As for me, I love my microfiber hi-cuts which I wear when dressed and as often as possible when not. And, yes, as many others here do, I wear them to help my tuck. I have all kinds, but my hi-cuts are my standard.

The day I stop wearing panties is the day I stop crossdressing. I am not a woman. Dont want to be. But I do get aroused shopping for and buying panties and when wearing them. When that thrill is gone, so is everything else CD related. May that thrill last a long time though.

The desire to crossdress has come and gone for me over the years. Several years ago it came back with a vengeance and I think it's here to stay.
When it came raging back this time at first I had no interest in panties. I was strictly concerned with my outward appearance. Had this past come up at that time I would have been in agreement.
At some point though I found that with my limited opportunities to dress I needed something to help me manage when I couldn't dress so I tried panties and I found that I really liked them.
I now wear them everyday and have been doing so for quite some time, even to the doctor's office. I no longer own any men's underwear and I don't see myself ever going back.

Wellllll.....
As it is I own about ... 120 pair of panties. I suppose it's a bit much, but I just love all the available styles, fabrics and colors.
I have nylon, nylon/spandex, cotton, cotton/spandex, hipsters, bikinis, briefs, boyshorts (I hate that they are called that), and lace trimmed. I think I got them all.
Ok, so it is a bit over the top, but after all, it's my life and I want to live it.

hello Judy,
We are all different - that is what makes this forum interesting!
I wear panties most of the time - under-dressing in plain black panties most days. I think that some are more comfortable than male underpants.
I wear more feminine panties when dressed at home in private.
But I must admit that some panties (especially thongs) are not comfortable to wear - they are not designed for the male anatomy so do not provide support or allow bits to fall out ...
luv J
Panties are an ideal, an aspiration. Women - especially the models - make them look awesome.
For a man however, they're generally ill-fitting and don't hold in place what needs to be held in place. I honestly have no clue how guys wear thongs and g-strings, to me that just feels like I'd be garotting my buddies down there. The only ones that work for me comfort wise are essentially granny panties - shapeless bags of satin with the occasional bit of lace or a bow in an attempt to make them "cute" but the reality is that they're ridiculous looking on me, and are horrific during any sort of warm weather.
I still own them, though. Lots of them.

Legitimate question, do you just go commando under your clothes? I wear panties every day so I couldn't imagine wearing boxers or uggggg briefs or boxer briefs ever again. I heard that tight clothing helps the testicles to not stretch with age lol I have no scientific basis for that but I heard it somewhere lol but yeah I wear a thong or gstring, it's all about finding the right pair to engulf everything by lowering the front and pulling up the rear a little higher.

They cover much more skin, and some find the feeling of them pleasurable (similar to why some like slips, even though they are intended to add extra coverage and provide modesty.) Some (like myself) also like traditional/vintage lingerie, the things women used to wear in the 1930s-1960s (slips, girdles, gartered stockings, corsets, petticoats, bloomers etc.) And some find "modesty" more attractive, kind of a reverse psychology kind of thing.

I have all different kinds of panties that are very comfortable. I love granny panties because the fit in all the right places and they usually have a wide enough gusset to accommodate the boys. I say that honestly, but it obviously depends on the size of you package. I also have a number of stretch cotton or microfiber that fit very well. When I wear my pantie, I decide if I want to wear those that are so comfortable that I don't feel them at all, or if I want to be reminded that I'm wearing panties throughout the day.
As for G-strings, I've never found a pair of G-strings that can keep the boys from flopping from one side to the other. But, I do have some men's G-strings that are fine. The front is big enough to hold the boys, and surprisingly or not, after a few minutes, you don't even fell that the string in back is there.
I also have some Hanes cotton bikinis, hi-cut and grief made of very soft cotton and are very comfortable. Most of them are white so that they don't attract attention in the locker room.
YMMV

I once knew a CD (former navy) who dressed quite nice and feminine.
However, she admitted to me that she never wore panties.... just male BVDs under her female finery.
Of course I could never understand this but I guess that there are a few gals who refuse to wear panties,
I suspect that some just feel a need to keep at least something male when dressing .
I guess I'm practical about it. I always wear gaff & panties when I'm dressed even if the outfit doesn't require it. That's mainly because I wear boxer shorts the rest of the time and having the equipment swinging about when I'm dressed is just wrong, and negatively affects my self-confidence. The rest of the time I stick with underwear that's designed for the anatomy I have.

For me panties are foundational to dressing. It is the only thing that I can always wear that is exempt from the don't leave the house dressed mandate. With that said I have a huge collection of all types of styles, cuts, and materials. What I wear everyday depends on what I am doing and whether or not I need practical and functional or pretty and frilly.
What I don't have is any girl socks though... coming in at women's size 14.5 shoe, shoes and socks are very difficult to come by...
My dressing started with panties. I have LOTS of panties in every configuration from g-strings to grannies and every fabric. I guess I'm somewhat of a broken record here, but panties don't represent 'femininity' to me, but rather indulgence. I don't have much need to tuck since i don't go out and my endowment wouldn't draw much attention in all but the tightest of women's clothing. I find panties to be more comfortable than men's underwear. I NEVER liked boxers and grew up in tighty-whitey's.
I'm in panties probably five days a week and the other two I wear things that I figure my wife might appreciate. Mostly boxer briefs. I don't mind them, but not a huge fan.

The only problem I have with panties, are the ones with the gusset so narrow that there's not enough room for my genitals. Vanity Fair Illumination hi cuts just barely fit me, but I'm pretty underendowed. The cheap ones with only about an inch of fabric, are definitely unacceptable, as the elastics chew into my parts. There are some 'control' briefs which also have a wider gusset in them as well, out there. Unbranded, on ebay.

I have a rule of thumb (actually, a rule of finger) that I use to determine how wide the gusset should. It the gusset is as wide as the middle finger is long, my package will be quite happy. I can probably go about another inch narrower, but after that, the panties are more painful than fun.

Judy, as pretty as you are in your photos, you surprised the hell out of me with your no love for panties. To each her own as they say. I however would not make much more about it for fear that your CD license might get revoked! Damn, when I wander into the lingerie section at the local department store, I want to grab a cart and load up every type of panty in every color they have!
You however really do rock a dress I must say.

For me, panties are the foundation for everything else. Full cut nylon briefs particularly Vanity Fair Lace Nouveau and Ravisant panties ar my favorite for fit and feel but if you want a wide gusset, try Carole briefs. They have a very generous mushroom gusset. They are not as sheer as my Vanity Fair briefs but still quite comfy.

I like the Vanity Fair Illumination brief . Pretty well endowed also but the brief do a nice job. I like the elastic also nice quality and just firm and tight enough to do (the job) . Of course the feel is great also. Rose beige favorite color

Love panties, but I've never given up my boxer briefs.
With those on, I can still feel fem, but they are functional.

I couldn't live without my panties. Slight exaggeration. Comfort, support and generally just holding everything in place nicely.
Haven't counted them but I must have fifty or sixty in my underwear drawer, and a new pack of five unopened on the floor by the bed. I haven't owned any male underwear in probably more than a decade. My late mother in law would buy me a pack as a little something extra each Christmas. Marks and Spencer high leg cotton multi-packs UK size 12 FTW. I do also have a few cute frilly / lacy pairs for special occasions.
I also like to colour co-ordinate even in drab. If the T-shirt is blue then the socks and the panties are blue. Except for white - I don't do white socks in drab.

I just bought a three pack of Hanes panties and a two pack of lace boy shorts yesterday. I've got a couple pair of thongs that I like as well. Catching a glance at "whale tail" where the top of the thong shows I used to call thongs dental floss for the butt but after wearing them I love the feeling. The ones I got seem to hold my bits even while doing work and I have had to stop and readjust men's underwear many times so adjustments aren't unique to thongs. Without sounding weird they are erotic without producing any visible signs if that is possible and I'm walking around smiling all day. I hand washed them yesterday afternoon and I'm waiting for one of the cotton pairs to dray so I can ditch these guy undies I have to wear until they're ready.

Star, You need to buy more panties so you do not have to wear those horrible guys undies anymore.

It has been pantyhose over a french high cut Maidenform shaper. I am getting to the age where my mild hernia doesn't mind the compression of a panty girdle.
I usually will wear a satin camisole and a short slip to keep it all gliding smoothly while lounging or under dressing.
If I am getting all dolled up my OBG allows me to wear one of my full Ravissant size satin ruffled rumba panties slip and pencil skirt.
Silky panties are a must for me....I don't own any cotton underwear anymore...satin even in winter, 24/7
