It is a little bit weird since in a boy mode I look like my dad. But when fully fem with wig and make up I see my mom in the mirror. I guess it makes sense it just throws me off since I haven't seen that until I started dressing.

Amanda,
I share the same facial shape as my mother , sister and also my daughter .

My daughter often tells me I look like a sister to my sister .

Yes, I look just like my mother except I have my father's smile. Everyone always said that, even when I was a young boy.

When all dressed and made up in wig, yes, there is some resemblance to my mother. Similar face structure, and legs. Sometimes, it bothers me. In bad pics, i resemble my dad some. A bit of both.

I look more like my Mother.
She was a model in the 1930s and 40s which is cool but I will never be able to come close to her is style and grace.

Not me I look more like my dad I have even mistaken myself for him in old pictures Kind of scary, but he was a good man. I have often wondered if he may have been in to crossdressing since my mother was an actress, makeup artist and I ran across photos of him dressed but it looked more like a comedy thing, Hmm

I've been told I look like my mother, and that was before I ever came out. The biggest difference is I'm about a foot taller and have outlived her by several years now.

As I occasionally look at photos, depending on how my hair is styled or the lineup of the shot, I very much look like my mother.

I take pride in looking like my father who in turn looks like his father. My son however looks like his mother and her father. I guess now I can take pride in looking like my mother. Here's hoping I can be half the woman (person) she is.

I look a little like my mom, a lot like my sister and a couple of cousins. When I started dressing again I was playing around with my phone and took a selfie, I thought I had deleted it only to pop up later. I saw it and wondered how a picture of my sister got on my new phone.

Not at all. But as one of 8 siblings (I am the second oldest), dressed and with a blonde wig, I have a striking resemblance to my next younger sister.

Many years ago I was leaving the elder apartment where my mother was living and was joined on the elevator by one of the staff.

We chatted and out of the blue: "Hah, put you in a denim dress [like she wore] and a wig and you can't tell the two of you apart."

(To myself): "Buddy, you have no idea."

My features are a mix of my mom and maternal grandfather and it's as though I didn't inherit anything at all in the looks department from my dad's side of the family. Virgin birth, perhaps. :)

The first time I put on my wife's wig in the late 60's and looked in the mirror I thought that I was looking at my sister. Neither of us looked like our mother. My mother was heavy set and had a Roman nose which apparently my father's genes over powered. Both were tall which was an advantage as a man but it's hard finding size 13 women's shoes. Yes, I mourn the demise of Payless.

The first time my aunt saw me fully dressed she told me to walk down the hall and come back. I had on heals and walked back she told me not only did I look like my mom, but I walked just like her in heals.

It?s spooky how much I look like her in her fifties especially when I wear my curly wig. She loved getting a perm. Wonder what mom would think if she ever found out she really had five daughters?

I hope not. But I also get annoyed when people say I look like my dad. And annoyed when my wife said certain clothes are something my mom would pick out. I bought a pair of heels as an impulse buy and wearing them reminded me of my mom's heels so I had to get rid of them.

Every child, regardless of sex, has 50% of their recombinant DNA from each biological parent. Individual traits for physical appearance, blood group, tendency for short-sightedness, or any other physical condition depend on having inherited either a recessive or a dominant gene from each parent. If your mother?s genes for some particular traits were dominant and your father?s genes for these traits were recessive, you would look more like your mother. Or the reverse. Or, you could have some traits from your mother and some from your father.

Sex, on the other hand, is determined by having received the Y chromosome from the father - which determines whether you will develop male sexual characteristics - and this is completely random. In fathers, only half of sperm cells carry the Y chromosome.

Here?s an image of the Brazilian soccer player Neymar and his son, who obviously looks more like his mother:

https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-0cf7f926e5327ddedb4b4f48ed3b8cb7-c

And here?s an image of a brother and sister (Alex and Emma Watson) who look alike - same eyebrow shape, nose, mouth - whether they look more like their father, mother, or a combination of both:

https://hips.hearstapps.com/sev.h-cdn.co/assets/15/33/1439568366-54ed91ce97197-alex-watson-de.jpg

I personally look more like my father, as does my brother, but we both have inherited many other traits from our mother. My brother and I look alike even though he looks masculine and I look feminine.

EDIT:

Facially I don't resemble either of my parents. However, Sherry occasionally looks remarkably like my former girl friends and wife!:D

Good one! :D

OMG, I do is some pictures and I am sure my family would think so too. I noticed the resemblance some time back and every once in a while a picture of me just knocks me out. The resemblance is very strong. It is just hereditary I guess!

More than once I'd been said that. First time my wife. She even thinks my legs ate like my mom.
Then when out to my brother he told I'm pretty and then I'm like my sister, may be he has in his memory my mom's image that past on 2011being 83 and pass from alzheimer.
Finally my grandson, 10 years old told me.when the first time that I look like my mom because his dad has hanging on the world a pic from mom on her fifties...I'm proud of it...

I look very similar to my father in some pictures, and like my mother's brother in others. I don't look anything like my mother or her sister, or my father's sister, or even my own sister. I'm okay with that. :D

Umm, yes, I do look like Mom. I have changed my look to my natural white hair color and I look like a cross between her and my MIL who has since passed on. I have some of my MIL's clothes and when I wear them I can escape the resemblance, so I do not wear that outfit near my wife as it would be too much. I started going gray in my 20's. So rarely go for the red head look anymore.

When I was much younger, I dressed, made myself up, and took some pictures. In one of them I was my mother. Disconcerting, especially as I was trying to look sexy.

Scarily similar. I look like my sister's fat twin. If my wife didn't like me better as a brunette, I would only do blonde wigs just to try and NOT look anything like my mom or sister.

I started getting into genealogy a few years ago. Stumbled across an 1848 photo my a fifth great uncle, who was one of the children of my Revolutionary War commander ancestor. I swear he looked exactly like my dad. Exactly.

I felt that I look like my aunt.

I think it might be because she tends to wear noticeable lipstick.

I don't think my mother has worn makeup in years.

My new wig helps to blur that line of resemblance though.

DianeT

I look slightly like my mother if I don't use foundation and only eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. My mother is a beautiful woman, however I don't fancy at all looking like her, so I use foundation and voila, I look like me, just made up and with a softer face.

I fully dressed with my wife last week. When I put on my wig, she said, "You look just like your sister. At least like she did when she was younger." Actually a compliment. Nothing was said about looking like my mother.

Not at all like my Mother to look at, apparently I am the image of my Father.
But my taste in clothing is all Mother's. She loved silky underwear and nighties; her skirts and dresses were of the 1940s and 1950s. These are the things I value above more modern styles.

Sometimes I see my great-aunt Mildred. She was a very nice person, but it is not the look I was going for :) I wish I looked like my mom’s side of the family, but I don’t.

DonnaJ

I noticed a strong resemblance for the first time this week, not so much in my face but in my body shape. I looked at the way my dress draped over my body and thought at my age, I look a lot like my Mom looked at the same age.

Before I was buying my own clothes and needed to “borrow” them, Mom’s things fit me better than either of my two sisters’. My Mom and I had the same shoe size which was immensely helpful in the early days. The sizes always worked - I suppose the increase in resemblance is due to the way things are settling in over time.

Facially it will never happen. People who have met my Dad but have never met me know instantly that I am his son.

Not me, when mom was younger, much younger, she was constantly mistaken for Judy Garland, and she would make an effort to maintain that look. Just before she passed, she looked like Granny Clampett of Beverly Hillbillys with an extra 20 pounds.

I am the same height, and nearly the same weight as my late mother (RIP 2001 at age 83). We're both 5'11 (at least before she shrank with old age), she weighed 180, I weigh 170 (down from over 200...). Moreover, more or less the same hair when I had some, and same colour hair on my wigs. When I'd meet people in my old home town (in male mode), they'd comment on how much I looked like my mother.

But here's the weird part: I was adopted as an infant. The mother I supposedly looked like, was my adoptive, not biological mother...

The resemblance between me and my mother when I'm dressed is uncanny. I come from a very large family and only 2 of us have the same hair colouring as our mother so may be that has something to do with it. I don't wear wigs as I can do my hair in both male and female styles. Get dressed and look in the mirror and there is Mum looking back at me.
