Hi.

I am about to attend my last appointment at Leeds Genger Reassignment Clinic tomorrow and my partner will be with me as she has been throughout.

My doctor there does not think that I am a suitable candidate to change sex.

I feel strangely dissapointed. A mixture of sadness, anger and relief.

It is suggested that I find myself a psychologist (which I have done) and just continue to dress as normal and enjoy the experience.

Anyone been where I am?

Love,

Susan

I just have trouble with this. If not changing sex is what you want, then great, they've given the help you needed. So why are you disappointed? Are you happy with the outcome? I hope so. Can I ask why he came to that opinion?

In terms of being there, Leeds GIC won't see me until I'm referred by an NHS psychiatrist, so I'm waiting for that. Then the GIC wait is 3 years. That's why I went private a year ago.

Sorry I can't offer any empathy, I just hope you've found your happy place now.

Take care :)

Susan, I can understand about your mixed emotions. I too feel sometimes relieved when I think that I am not TS. BUt then I also feel sad that I will not be able to live my life expressing myself visually as a women. Then on days that I think I am TS, I feel very concerned and overwhlemed by it all. It all a vicious circle really.

I've been through that too. The cycles the burning desires then the resignation that nothing is going to happen and finally a very uneasy acceptance.

Today, SRS isnt even in the picture. I would be happy to live female if I could. I still might. Who knows? Sometimes it is just so confusing but we battle on one way or another.

Sorry to hear they rejected you. I am sure that internally you know if it was the right decision or not. If you arent sure then more time is needed to be sure. The last thing either you or the clinic wants to do is make a mistake with this. If there is an error, it will be on the side of caution.
