View Full Version : Halloween, the CD's National Holiday

I made my first public appearance at a Halloween party. How many others did the same?
I dressed as a tart at a motorcycle campout. 4" heels, a dress that barely covered my butt, black pantyhose, earings make by my wife, and make-up and hair styled by her also. The GG's in the campground all marvelled at my ability to walk on uneven ground in the heels, and many expressed envy at my legs. None knew I was a CD the other 364 days, and had plenty of practice walking in heels.
On another Halloween, my wife and I both crossdressed at a Tri-Ess party. We went as Gomez and Morticia Addams. In the original cartoons, Morticia is several inches taller than Gomez, so this worked out well. Liz made me a floor length black dress, complete with the tree root tails, and snug enough below the knees that I had about an 8" stride. Pasty-white makeup, black lipstick and press-on nails, and a 36" black wig completed the costume.
Liz wore the suit that I had worn at our wedding. At the time she had short hair, which she dyed black and skicked back, and she used eyeliner to draw in a pencil-thin moustache.

Can't say I did (make my first femme appearance at a Halloween party), but I did crossdress once for halloween as a pre-adolescent. I don't really have any particular memories of it, oddly enough, probably because I didn't have raging hormones yet.
A few years back my s.o. suggested that I might fully dress up for Halloween, I was just a little to shy about it at the time to take her up on it. Darn it. Maybe next year!
It is, I suspect, the closest we've got to our own national holiday :)

I also went out for my 1st time on Halloween. I wore a black floral print dress, black 3 inch heels, a long red wig, black hose, makeup and jewelry. At first it got a lot of laughs from my friends but as the evening progressed I started to get more and more compliments on my taste in clothing and how well I walked in heels. At least one lady there did not recognize me but we had only met a few times so that was not too surprising. I also went to our Halloween "party", such as it was, at work dressed in the same outfit. I actually had to tell one of my co-workers who I was because she just couldn't figure it out. Another would have gone without even noticing me if some one had not pointed me out to her. The look on her face was a treasure! I think it was the most fun I have ever had on Halloween as an adult.

The Fist and only time I went out dressed, myself, was Halloween 2004 at our adult sunday school party---That we hold each year out in the woods at a member's ranch.
I had been dressing in more prosaic outfits, for our costume contest, such as a midevial man, a cowboy, a minstrel singer, etc. At the 2003 party two events inspired me to plan something "drastic" for the next year. I had lacked inspiration, so all I had was a rubber scull mask and a cape. An older couple shocked the heck out of us and won hands down when they showed up dressed as "Cavemen", wearing only skins, carrying clubs and with bones in ther hair.
So i decided "what i could do that could top THAT?". ==Yes i could dress as "a woman", THAT would shock the hell out of the group, but no, being closeted, I knew I couldnt make myself do THAT, besides "a woman" is just that, and to me, seemed to lack imagnition.
I thought about it , and weeks later, a idea hit me. A GYPSY FORTUNE TELLER! Perfect for Halloween, creative, imaginative, and to top it off---FEMALE!. I felt I could actually face people as a "Character" (even if it was female) while otherwise I would dare show myself just as a "Woman".
I assembled the needed costume elements and did a trial run at home---I got to wear not only girl stuff , but get more exotic than I ever had before. Extreme makeup with heavy eyeliner, and false eyelashes, long red fingernails, Fishnet hose and even boots.----Yet i didnt look like a "Ho" or a drag queen---To my shock and surprise I looked absolutel real--in the stereotypical fortune teller sense anyway. And I looked almost unrecognizable, even to myself---When i saw the result, I HAD to do this costume---despite any fears i had of people seeing me dressed as a female----it was just TOO GOOD NOT TO DO IT.
I showed up early at the 2004 party, and set up a card table with a silk cloth and a crystal ball. I figured that Sitting down at the table would hide my height and would be less recognizable. It worked to an extent--aboout only half of the people initially recognized me (more than I thought, but THEY did it by the process of elimination)===I had a BLAST. (and won the costume contest) ALL the ladies wanted me to read their fortunes---everybody, including me, had a big laugh. I was told I "MADE the party"----I never realized that CD was such a great way to meet girls. ;-)
Last year (2005) I came as MARK TWAIN---I figured I didnt need to show up as a female TWO years in a row---folks might think im "funny", if you get my drift.
But the 2004 outfit was a success, out 2005 party brought out MORE and more elaborate costumes, invigorating the contest---My Mark twain won only SECOND place.
MY first forray in fem in public taught me a couple of things about myself. I can only push myself to the fem side only JUST so far,--- while I LOOKED Female, I could NOT make myself walk, gesture or sit like a female ---or even try to affect a female voice. although I might have been able to if I didnt have the disguise on---go figure.

whats really weird is going to a halloween party and meeting people for the first time as femme, and then meeting them later and introducing yourself and they're like "huh? who? I don't remember you?" "halloween party, I was the nurse". "oooh yeah! OMG I didn't recognize you!"

You ladies (all most said guys) have such great imagination it takes a thick skin and a quick mind to pull off the gender switch thing you don't know what the others are thinking. I did it once and paid for it years latter I would never do it again among non belivers.

What happened, Joy? Are you willing to talk about it?

Hopefully, this coming Halloween I'll be able to get away with it. I just need 2 things:
1) A group to go with that I know would be cool with it.
2) The necessary courage to do it.
#2 is going to be the hard one. :(

I'm sorry but CDs are going to have to find another day for their national holiday, we goths already own Halloween as our national holiday.

I did that at the halloween party in the seventh grade or so. Parents helped dress me up. So missed out on panties, bra, nylons & heels that I would have worn left on my own. Really plain jane blah.
One of my best friends was supposed to be at the party and I looked all over for him. Finally decided he didn't come. About that time a girl introduced herself. It was him. Thinking back now I wonder if he also was a CD like me. Anyone here named Chester?

Not meant to be a play on words but Halloween is not only the time of year for the "free pass" for dressing but it's also the time to get a makeover in the department stores without having to totally expose your year round dressing. I was first made aware of this by a girl at the makeup counter in the Dillard's store in Wichita Falls. She said that was their busy time of the year for m-f makeovers. She also hinted that she knew that some who came in might just have some inclination toward CDing the remainder of the year as well. :D

I don't get out very often but every haloween I get out. Not just to parties or clubs but I get around town shopping and having dinner. It is one time we can dress as we like with nobody giving us any crap.

I just want to add to the discussion. When you were dressed during Halloween did you feel overly nervous? I.E. Don’t go “all out” or you may be seen as “different”? I know that a longgggggg time ago (before I was out) I would not even entertain the idea of going enfem. I thought people would be able to see that I put a LITTLE TOO MUCH effort into my costume. Can anyone relate? Thanks, Love. R.

I've gone trick-or-treating en femme before, as well as giving out candy at my apartment that way when they had-trick-or treating for the kids, but I've never CD'd for work on Halloween. We usually have costume contests, and the temptation's always been there, but I've never gone through with it. Like rachealgirl said, I'd be afraid people would think I did a little bit TOO good a job with make-up, nails, etc.. On top of that, people would know there's no way in hell that's my first time to walk in 5" heels!

As a word of encouragement, the worst thing thing that happened to me on Halloween was when one of the guys I worked with made a remark along the lines of, Well, Ill be damned, a Drag Queen." Other than that everyone was very accepting and got lots of laughs out of it. If you don't mind being laughed at now and then, then by all means, dress to the max and go out on Halloween. It is a wonderful way to satisfy the urge to go out and will go a long wasy toward building courage to "outing" yourself.

My wife suggested me going dressed up as a woman last halloween. Well let me tell you ever since then I dress every opportunity I get, and she has been wonderful about it. In fact she has since bought me panties that I wear daily now. This does not mention the hundreds of dollars spent on my own buying clothes that feel ohhhhhhhhhh so comfortable to wear. I always knew there was something there but something also told me that if I did, it would be a road that had no turn-a-round once traveled. Not only did last halloween open the door for CD'ing it also has done wonders for releasing someone that has been dying to get out for so many years. Someone I always had an inkling(sp) was there but never acted on, until now. I am so thankful, and wonderfully comfortable with. I can honestly say I have found the part of me that has been bottled up for 41 years. I am so happy and at peace now I cant begin to explain.
Dressing up on halloween was always a thorn in my side because of my untold wanting to dress as a woman and total fear of what might be said. Now that I have done it, I cant wait until next year. As I am sure now that my wife has taken active participation I will have an absolute knockout outfit for next year. Until then I guess we will have to experiment with what is correct. I just love experiments!!!!!!!!
My only fear at this point is that she tires of it or sees it as something not right because now that I know that this is who I am, I really dont think this is something I can stop. My only concern is where it will go from here, as I feel that I have now found the feminine part of me that is so part of me.
Thank you for this posting opportunity girls!!!
