I know this is not a huge deal to many here, but I took the plunge... I had my left ear pierced in college and that hole was still there (although I hadn?t worn an earring there in 20 years)... so this weekend I went and got a matching hole on the other side and a new set of ?starters?.... kind of a dark red gemstone... I would have done black but the choices were minimal. I had talked about this with my wife (who is accepting but doesn?t want anything to do with it overall)... and even she had said ?you should do it, then you can wear earrings [when you dress]?

I?m sure the kids and other relatives will poke a little fun at me but I?ve decided I don?t care :)

YOLO!!

Now just to wait the 8 weeks before I can swap em out :)

I understand your excitement. :hugs: It's a great moment. Enjoy!
You might be surprised at how few people make anything of it these days. In ten months, i have only had two comments on mine, neither of them unkind. Even my ultra-traditional elderly parents didn't comment, altho they did give me a few quizzical looks at first. :heehee:

Congratulations!

I'm a little jealous to be honest. I want to get my ears pierced but my wife wasn't keen at the time I last mentioned it. Hmm, she recently asked me what I would like for my birthday / Christmas. I wonder ...

I just did the same myself. The healing period is just now over and I'm indulging in filling my jewelry box with pretty new earrings (and bracelets and necklaces to go with them, of course)!

Wait the whole healing time! I got my pierced a few years ago and it is so freeing! Your choice for earrings just went through the roof! Enjoy to the max! Hugs Lana Mae

Last night during a glass of wine, my wife took off her large gold hoops that I bought her years ago and placed them on the coffee table. I said hey let me try them. I had them in for about a hours before she said she wanted them back and we went to bed. It was a nice night. We put up our tree last night. Tons of fun.

Yay! I just did mine over the weekend too, after letting them close up after leaving them out way too long. I was feeling a little bit extra so I pierced my nose too! I can’t wait for them to heal! I’m already picking out jewelry lol

I'm getting mine done this weekend. I was suppose to get them done two weeks ago, but as I was heading to my appointment. I realized I forgot my id, and there was no way. I could have gone home, and made it back on time.

I have felt a little tempted, but it is really not a thing you see in my circles. When I saw there is an 8 week healing period -- too long a commitment for me at this time. Good for you, though!

Thanks ladies! :). Got them done at a tattoo place (getting some ink in a couple weeks too - nothing girly, but also nothing that would interfere with girl time). My ears should be fully healed by Valentine’s Day, maybe I can drop a hint for my wife to consider getting Kelly something too hahaha

Funny, a recent post about earrings has me thinking about going for it. Earrings has been on my wife's HATED list since way before I started dressing. I didn't have much of an opinion one way or the other. Now, it's one of the things I'm considering pulling the trigger on.

I got my last 'regular man's haircut' back in 2005, just before my daughter's wedding. Once the wedding, and the subsequent photos were done, I had no inclination to cut my hair. I didn't say anything to my wife or kids. I didn't ever really decide to let it grow long. I just didn't cut it. It turns out that my wife ended up liking me with a gray ponytail down past my shoulder blades. I'm thinking that she would NOT react to earrings the same way, at least not at first.

There are Tattoo places where I live that do piercings. Pick a clean one. The one I used has a guy that only pierces.

Yeah, go for it Rachel!
Definitely recommend that you go to a specialist piercing studio where they use a hollow needle, not a stud-gun. It will cost slightly more, but should heal better with less risk of infection.

About thirty years ago I had left ear pierced at one of those places in the Shopping mall. Over time it healed over, I regretted not doing both of them it took me until this last January to have them done again. I went to a professional piercers to balance both ears I had my left done over again then a new hole in the right side. I never liked the clip-ons, as they feel off or didn't look good. I am so happy having them done an wear them daily.

I had my ears pierced a few years back at the "Piercing Pagoda" in the mall. It's a chain, they are everywhere.

I got a little grief from my friends so I told them they weren't earrings, they were cell phone antennas. That shut them up.

I love how I can now wear dangling and hoop earrings.

I had mine done at a place in a nearby mall about twenty years ago. I used to wear something every day deflecting comments about long hair and piercings with the old hippie alibi.

After I started looking more my age, hair turned gray and thin, I got the hair cut and stopped wearing them. Now I only wear earrings when I dress and have no trouble pushing them through even if a few months go by. In retrospect I have no regrets because once the healing is done a person can wear them when the situation calls for it and doesn?t have to wear them all day every day. Case in point, my wife had hers pierced in high school in the 60?s and rarely wears earrings. Ironically she sells online and one of her areas of expertise is jewelry. There are always tables full of jewelry here that she bought at an auction and uses the coffee table and dining room tables for sorting and packaging. I feel like a kid in a candy store and I can?t touch a thing.

I am such a sissy as I have not did the deed yet. I joked at my wife when she just got a new tattoo on her leg this past summer that I am a sailor and don't have ANY tattoo's and she has four now! So I was thinking it would be a good excuse to get my ears pierced without asking, thinking, if you can get tattoos, I should be able to get my ears pierced. I heard the pharmacist will also do ear piercings too, but haven't investigated it more. Lately my clip-on earrings have been bothering me after 2 or more hours.
I need to do some research...do they hurt during the healing period?

I had my ears pierced a few years back. Never a negative word it was amazing.
One person asked me about them and I said they are jerk detectors 100% accurate. wow did it get quiet that day.

Enjoy your earrings

I pierced my own ears a few years ago. I purchased a stud gun but didn't use it. The gun had a sloppy mechanism that I didn't trust to accurately pierce. Instead, I pushed the stud thru my earlobe. The piercing didn't hurt.

Nobody has made any negative comments about my piercing. A few people asked about them and I used hippie excuse. I would have pierced my ears long ago except I worked for a major corporation. Back in the day 40 years ago, earrings would not have gone over well.

I grew up in the 50s where most girls didn't have pierced ears. Girls I dated didn't have pierce ears so when I dressed I felt like a girl when I put on my earrings and screwed them snug. I was once questioned why my ears had red marks.

Congratulations! I don't see why anyone should poke fun at you. Lots of men wear earrings today.

I think of ear piercing as the pons asinorum of crossdressing. But when I did mine, it was the better part of forty years ago and nowhere near as fashionable for men as it is today. And of course it's necessary to wear "starters" of some kind during that initial healing period. So I decided to conceal them. This was a do-it-yourself exercise. I ran my earlobes through myself with a large safety pin sterilized in isopropyl alcohol. And my "starters" were two short lengths cut off a paper clip, just long enough to go through the earlobes without protruding. I covered them with a touch of pinky-brown matt paint so the ends wouldn't shine. With a tiny dab of makeup over my earlobes, they didn't show at all, unless anyone got close with a magnifying glass! It all worked very well.

Hah! Marianne that’s very clever!! I’m sure I’ll catch some flak from relatives but I honestly don’t give a crap... I’m a successful small business owner and have a great family ... if they want to tease me for “being gay” or whatever I’ll just say “oh yeah didn’t I tell you?” Or something like that... I’m a bit of a loner for the most part anyway so if I’m “uninvited” to Christmas dinner that would suit me just fine lol!! But I’m sure it won’t come to all of that...

Piercing my ears was the greatest thing ever. The first time was strange at first it was 1982 then I decided to double pierce then in 1994 and triple pierced them a year later. It?s the fact that no one has ever said a word one way or another about them being pierced at all. It?s a great way to kind of make the ultimate look and feel of feminine. About a month a go I was looking at jewelry in my local Sams club and saw a beautiful set of sterling silver hoops and I just had to have them. They are all matching laser cut three different sizes snd look absolutely fantastic with all three in. I haven?t had a chance to dress fully since buying them but hopefully when COVID settles down soon I?ll get the chance. It would definitely get some type of comments if I wore them as they are definitely feminine even one pair. But anymore who cares. I do what I want and all for me and no one else. Hang in there don?t worry about what people think many guys no days have pierced ears anyway maybe that?s why no ones ever said anything up to now
Anyway

I re-pierced the three holes in my ears recently and am so happy about it. No comments from anyone, not even my kids although I warned them that it was coming.

DO NOT go to a Claire's or whatever in your local mall. Go to a tattoo place, I think I paid $40 for all three? and she messed one up so fixed it for free the next day no probs. The method is different and less problematic at a tattoo place, less potential scarring and it just feels cooler

Some of the piercing methods above are unsafe. In particular, rubbing alcohol is not entirely effective as a sterilising agent. My preference for piercing is in a piercing parlour with a needle.

Where I live, personal care establishments must be inspected annually by law. It's also the law that complaints from the public be investigated. Inspection results are posted on the local health department's website with two years of history.

I've dropped a business that had an infraction and have complained about unsafe food packaging that subsequently changed.

Please stay safe, everyone.

In my experience (The Piercing Pagoda in a mall), the actual piercing was less painful than having blood drawn for lab work and there was no pain afterwards.

Some people have suggested not going to these places but my experience was just fine. No problems.

When I first started talking to my wife about getting my ears pierced and said definitely not. It would scream crossdresser and everyone would know. I didn't agree but did some research, going to the mall and looking every guy that walked by to see if they had their ears pierced. WOW! there were alot and every age, young teenagers to guy as old as I was (mid 50's at the time) to really old 70's. So I went down and had it done at the mall. After the beginner stud came out and I could put in some real ones, my wife looked at me and told she like my ears that way. Hmmmm.. she said the same thing when I talked about shaving what little hair I had on my head, and come to think of it, when I started shaving my body hair as well. Objection, objection, OH, that looks really nice. Nobody has given me any negative comments or even a second look.

I am thinking of it. Now would probably be a good time, since everyone is at home due to the Covid.

That was the driving force behind me doing it. I used the piercing tools sold on Amazon. I messed up the location on one and moved it over just pushing it through by hand backing the lobe with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. I've always had trouble using mirrors. I learned that each of my ear lobes is a different shape and that they are insensitive to pain. Anyway I also learned that you can do it yourself but I recommend getting another pair of eyes involved. Since I live alone l don't associate closely with anyone due to covid fear so this wasn't possible. I figured worst case I'd have a hole in each ear as a souvenir of this terrible time, but I really like the look.

I got mine done sat by a person who dose them for a living. So far Iam glad i did. I just got basic studs, and was told in about 8 weeks. I can remove them. As for the pain. Other then a bit of pressure. I didn't feel any thing.

My wife has agreed to me having my ears pierced

Not only that, she's decided to have her ears pierced at the same time. We plan to go to a piercing specialist but she is all booked up until the middle of January. Well she does have excellent reviews so that's not surprising. Need to agree a date with DW now.

Congratulations to all the girls who have taken the plunge and to those on the fence, I encourage you to go forward. I pierced mine DIY in April and LOVE it. Makes a strong statement about your CD habit. You are now a serious dresser; it's not just a casual thing anymore. In addition, real ear rings can be worn all day every day but lobes hurt after an hour with clip ons.

As I mentioned, I had mine done years ago and I?m not looking to get multiple piercings. What I was contemplating before Covid was getting some more ink. Specifically some kind of flower design on the side of my hip just below where my bikini panty waist band would be.

I went so far as to collect design ideas and selecting an artist before lockdown. That idea is still on the back burner but it is definitely something I hope to do by my 70th. People are probably wondering how I could do that in a DADT. Easy, she literally may never see it until the undertaker brings it to her attention if I was to pass first. I know that it doesn?t make sense that someone who doesn?t even dress around their SO would get a tatt so obviously feminine but I don?t have any reservations about the idea.

Anyone else here that likes both ink and piercings and might be planning on expressing themselves with some ink when things open back up? I look at ink and piercing ears as going hand.

Stevie Allyn
12-21-2020, 10:57 AM
Hi Star,

Yes I'm planning to get some ink done soon. One of our nieces is a tattoo artist and she is going to put these two on my left forearm -

317967 317968

The plan is to have the girl/flower done first as it will take the most time.

Also have plans for my right arm which currently has a black and grey image of my former favourite pussycat. Hopefully this can be done at the same time as the blue tit (bird) tattoo.
