Spelling

Occasionally, I will misspell "crossdressers.com" when heading for this site. I get some pretty strange websites when I do. Mostly places I don't think I would go.

I have been surprised what comes up when I mistype it . It use to worry me that me wife could do the same thing , I did sneak onto her computer and change her settings so it didn't show more explicit sites .

Yes I have made the same mistake a few times so I am more careful what I type in now. Even more shocking, I googled the name I use here along with the word crossdresser, and sure enough it pulled up the text of a couple of my posts, and under images, it had my avatar but not any of my other pictures, fortunately. Then when I moved over to the videos tab in google, OMG it was loaded with porn. I can assure that it has nothing to do with me, but I guess I should have been more careful about name choices. Oh well, I am not going to bother getting another name, but it is kind of annoying.

Hi ladies easy type in in your toolbar, then when its comes up, condense it "CD's", that easy

It is interesting what will pop up even if one does not misspell a word. When I put Stephanie47 in and search it brings up a woman on a dating site. Get one letter wrong and you better know how to set your delete history.

I put "pumped" and "crossdressers" into Google, and yep, some pretty crazy stuff came up, none of it was me. I will let you guess what they were pumping!

The bad thing about it is when people want to find out about a friend or relative thats a crossdresser they end up on one of those sites and wonder what kind of a person we are.

That was often my worry with my family , we may have to try and disprove something that isn't true . I guess we just have to accept they are all adults and have to learn to deal with it , most people know what can be found all too easily on the inernet .

As for my spelling I have good days and bad , the more I doubt something the worse it seams to get , the other problem we have on the forum is the subtle differences bewtween US spelling and UK spelling .

I've had the site bookmarked on my phone and tablet since I joined. Strangely I only got around to bookmarking on my pc browser within the last week.

"Bookmarking" is fine except that if someone uses your computer they can easily find it.

I realize that's not a problem for some folks, but I would rather my wife not know about this site. And if you ever have visitors to your house, they might ask to use the computer.

I use FVD Speed dial so all of my favorite sites are on my desktop but only in ikon style this site is shown as a nondescript flag so if my computer happens to be on when I have family here the chances of them opening this site is pretty slim.
In any case all of my family know I dress so that thought of being "discovered" does not happen

That was always my attitude, I had the talk with my wife years ago about CD’ing but she found out about me being on this site and she accused me of lying to her. She said it was the lie of omission. I can say it is a long road back to getting her trust again and I am not all the way back.

If you worry about visitors asking to use your computer set up a guest account with limited privileges especially for that purpose.

As to my wife knowing about this site, she knows that there is "a crossdressing site I hang out on" but that's it. When I first joined a different CD site back in 2004 my wife also joined as we were both trying to understand what the need to dress was all about. She no longer needs the online support as she can, and does, talk openly about my dressing and identifying as genderfluid with her sisters, nieces and friends.

I do of course realise that I am incredibly lucky to have such an understanding and supportive wife and that others have to be much more secretive about their inner reality.

Some years ago we were researching how to get our son's school online with all the computers sharing a modem connection. One suggested method was to set up a SOCKS proxy server. One of the top search engine results led to somebody's collection of pictures of celebrities wearing white socks. You name it, somebody will perv on it.

The thing that puzzles me is; what is the marketing plan of all these sites that depend somebody looking for porn who can't spell crossdresser? I mean, is that a demographic? if so how big can it be?
