Hi all.
A recent thread asked what was your femme middle name, and I realized that I never chose a LAST name for Geena. After giving it some thought, I came up with two which would equally satisfy me. Each has some relation to my ancestry (hence some irregular spelling).
For fun, I thought I would let the forum members weigh in on the decision. If I get 50 responses, I will tally up the results.
1) Geena Kirkland 2) Geena Printis.
Enjoy
Geena

Kirkland--sounds like the main brand name at Costco stores. Both are good.
I like Prentis.

#1. It seems more "natural" and flows across the the tongue easier for me.
And for some reason it sounds like a name you'd find in the credits of a movie or TV show. "and Geena Kirkland as..."

Printis for Prentice? I like that one, less conventional.

How about Renelle for a middle name? I knew a feisty girl back in Kindergarten named that.

I'd say #1
I already have my last name. Geena Evelyn Edwards or Geena Gee.
Be a sweetie and pick me up some TP when you go to your store. Thanks. LOL

Geena Kirkland sounds like an actress from the golden age of film. Therefore thumbs up from me!

Soooo...a bit of Scottish and Greek (or is that Lithuanian?) in your ancestry, then? ;).
Not a big fan of "Printis", though. Sounds too much like a cutesy-pie, contrived take on "Prentice" or "Prentiss" to me.

I'm finding this to be fun, I hope you all are, too. I never heard of the Costco brand until now. Go figure.
I'll explain the family background to both names, neither in any way resembles my own name.
"Kirkland" is a take off of "Kirk," the last name of one of my great-grandfathers. My great-great-great-great grandfather on that line served at Valley Forge with Washington.
"Printis" was the first name of one of my great-great grandfathers -- a civil war veteran.
The tally so far is: Kirkland - 11 Printis - 5

I like Printis. It sounds more authentic and not like a stage name designed to be catchy.

This seems to have about run its course. Unless there is a flood of late opinions, the winner is: KIRKLAND. The tally was Kirkland -- 14; Printis -- 6. Thanks for the fun.
(If there was too much disappointment, I suppose I could hyphenate? lol).

We are lucky in the sense that we get to choose our last name (and cup size). In the real world, many of us are stuck with awkward names. Names that are constantly misspelled or mispronounced.
"Krisi" has no last name. If I were to somehow slip into the outside world as a female, I wouldn't be "Krisi" any way, I would probably use a feminine version of my male name and my actual last name. There's a name I would like to use that is the first name my mother would have given me if I had turned out to be a girl and a family last name, but my wife had a bad experience with a woman with that name in the past so it's probably not going to happen.
