My hair is getting long now, will be very reluctant to have it cut, and nobody can complain about it, and its probably going to be another 2 months before i can have it cut. Will be able to put curlers in it soon, getting excited about it. How long is your hair now ?

It's been 10 months since my last haircut. It was half an inch then and is about five and a half inches now. At that annoying stage where it's too long to leave, but too short to properly tie back. When at home i tie a really small tail at the back and use a pair of clips to pin down the hair above the ears that doesn't reach the tail. The front is left wispy.
When i go out i wear a hat/bandana anyway, which means i can cover it up while it's nondescript.
Want to grow it long enough for an "up-pony", which will perhaps be another year. :daydreaming:
Fortunately my wife is ok with my longer hair. She has given me some of her hair-ties & pins and has even offered to do me a frizzy perm when it's longer....

I am envious Debs. I would give anything to have your problem. :daydreaming: Fifty years ago mine was so thick. Now it is still kind of thick around the sides, but peach fuzz on top. And mostly white with occasional non-conformist black hairs. (Non-conformists seem to be everywhere - even freaky men in dresses. Yikes! What a wonderful world we live in.)

Sweetie, enjoy it while you have got it. (Damn genes!)

Some years ago when long hair was in fashion for men I would get a perm and for a woman it was heavenly.

Presenting as a man the girls loved it.:-)

Debs,
If only my hair would do that !!

I missed my haircut before the last lockdown just after Xmas now it's getting bushy at the sides and back making wearing a wig more difficult but it's still not as bad as last time when I had to wait six months .

I'm resigned to always wearing a wig but I don't mind .

My hair is non-existent. Back in my 20s I used to have long beautiful hair that came down between my shoulder blades. Even with facial hair I’d get ma’amed. But it left a long time ago. Sigh. Now I have at least a dozen wigs, so my hair can be any length or color I want.

What I wouldn't give to have a full head of hair now.
I had let it grow but due to those "male issues" I became very disappointed and cut it very short. It's good in a way as it's such a drastic difference from that to my wigs that it certainly maintains my image.
How I long for the days of my youth when my hair was full, thick and to the middle of my back.

My last haircut the hair dresser cut 9" off. I got a Man's haircut.

My wife loved it, I do not. I will let it grow again. But my hair is thin and does not look good long. I will keep it in a length that my hairdresser decides. I trust her and I will come out to her (I will wear mascara), next time I go in. I will go soon for a color and a trim. The goal is almost to my shoulders all way around, with bangs.

The last time my hair was cut was sometime in the last quarter of 2019. Covid lock down hit. The woman who usually cuts my hair is my wife's friend. She became an anti-masker, even with her husband being in a compromised group. I have no idea when I will get it cut again. I am participating in a no hair cut challenge until at least June. My gray hair is thin and I am bald on top. It is long enough to start keeping it in a pony tail is back. My wife says she likes my curls. If I had hair on top I'd keep growing it out. Otherwise, I'll be getting it cut. When I am en femme I don a gray shoulder length wig.

I was a bass player in rock bands in the 1970s when I had long hair in in my 20s
So, a few years ago, I decided to grow it long again except for this time, I decided to have straight cut bangs which are somewhat feminizing. i just say that is because i do not like my straight hair in my eyes if anyone might ask.
i now like to keep my straight hair a bit past my shoulders. I am now 73 years old.and I believe my natural long grey hair helps me pass .
In male mode I just tie it back
In any event, no one really says anything about it .

Ironically my long hair is a bit of a problem. My wife won't cut it and I am waiting until after I get vaccinated before I sit inside a salon. The problem is that it's too thin on top to look good en femme and it's so long that the ends hang out from under my wig and are difficult to stuff underneath it so it doesn't show. All will be resolved in time but right now it's not looking very good.

hello Debs,
normally my hair is very short - but yesterday my children pointed out that I had "covid hair". I did consider growing it. I did have very long hair in my 20s.
but today - I cut it short again, perhaps because my hair is now getting a bit thin with age and I am thinking a bald front with long at the back is not a good look ( crossdresser or not)
stay healthy!
here comes the snow!

Cheryl and I think a lot alike on a lot of things, seems I am quoting her more and more.
I too long for the days I had by hippy hair down to my shoulders.
Today I keep it below my ears and as full as can be but I am just starting to get thin on top.

Debs you have very nice hair good for you.

My last cut was December 2019. I was at the salon i go to 10/8/20, 12/10/20 and my last 2/3/21. She did just a little clean up of the ends and color the last 3 times. My hair is just at my shoulders. Some are freaking out which are guys I know from work I get compliments from women.

I don't feel I'm feminine looking as a guy just a guy with long hair, I do like it long. Hopefully no more wigs.

My hair is about 6? down the middle of my back and sides. I did have it all the same length but an accident making a fire in the fireplace I used some charcoal lighter fluid and singed parts of it. I can?t wear it all in a ponytail right now but it will grow out again. It?s been 3 years now since I?ve had it cut. I do need a trim to even things up in the rear but my roommate has promised she?ll trim it soon.

I?ve always had thin hair or rather fine hair but lucky enough there?s a lot of it. Plus being natural blond it?s always looked like it?s blended like a salon would go women. I?ve had many comments on it before from women that thought I had it done and who did it. I?ve never been one for bangs but might consider it if it doesn?t grow a bit faster. Right now the part i singed and burnt is down around my upper lip. Hoping it?ll be back to normal length by spring time or early summer.

I?m really lucky about having as much as I do it no different than like when I was younger just a little white mixing in now. I really feel for all those that cannot grow their hair in a more feminine length and or cut but they do make some really beautiful wigs nowadays to rival any cut out there and can have both worlds. Mines strictly feminine looking now but I?m okay with it. Have dressed now for the last 2 1/2 months everywhere I go 24/7. I?ve not had one comment period in that time. I?ve been everywhere too Kohl?s, JC Penney, Lowe?s, Home Depot, Walmart even auto-zone. I did get a few looks there but nothing said. I just aclike I?m me and the only thing is I haven?t worn any makeup as of yet. I usually wear leggings a pretty blouse and have a Kenneth Cole women?s knee length puffy coat on. Plus 3 pair of earrings and pretty rings and bracelets.

Your mileage may vary, but you may look feminine without a long hair. The problem with most of us is the clearing in the back. If you grow your hair it becomes more visible.

Long hair is great on the right head shape, but it doesn't automatically give everyone a more feminine appearance or even make you look cool, as anyone who followed rock music from the late 60s to the late 70s clearly knows. I let my covid grey hair grow 10 months, mainly because only my wife was looking, and finally had it cut after my wife commented, quite honestly, that I looked more like a hobo/tramp/bum than a rake. When I seriously looked in the mirror, and we must be careful as mirrors can lie, I knew she was right. And, in the last month or two of long hair I kept seeing clips of people who rocked long hair (Jeff Bridges "The Dude", Eddie Van Halen RIP, John Mellencamp and Jon Bon Jovi) that are now wearing it short.

I'm sticking with wigs for CD adventures.

My homegrown hair remains short, and I actually have the thinning shaved down because I wear a top piece when in default mode. It's store-bought hair in either mode, for me, one way or another.

The last couple of times I tried growing my hair out I gave up at a certain point. Part of the problem is that it waves out like wings as it grows longer. It's starting to grow over the tops of my ears right now.

BTW, I've been cutting my own hair for about 10 years.

What is this "hair" thing you speak of?

Like some of you I had thick wavy hair once upon a time. Now I don't. I essentially give myself a buzz cut every two weeks for male mode, and wear a wig, or for just putzing around the house, a light headscarf (much more comfortable in hot weather). I tend to just wear the wig for going out.

I had this too, but got past the wings stage back when many things were closed and I could allow it to grow long enough that gravity kicked in.

I suppose different countries have different quarantine rules, but where I live, salons are open with certain restrictions and I have no trouble getting my hair cut. I have normal "male" length hair and wear a wig as Krisi. This gives me both a different style and a different color than my male self.

I stop cutting my hair like 4 years ago and was one of the first things towards making visible my come out.

I just cut the tips twice to arrange it.

I had received so many compliments.....

Prior to the start of the pandemic I was considering growing out my hair. At my last haircut, I told the stylist this and I wanted a cut that I can maybe grow out and be able style it according to my mode. She knew exactly what I was talking about and gave me something I could work with. She also gave me some ideas on how I could wear it guy or girl mode. Well that was at the end of last February and little did I know at the time that would be my last haircut.

In the year since my last haircut, I've had a love, hate relationship with my hair as it grew out. Fortunately, my wife likes long hair on men although she does admit I look better with short hair. She did say the other day that she thinks I would look bada$$ with my hair in a ponytail and earings. My hair is long enough now that I have to wear a hairband to keep it out of my eyes and it looks rather femme. If I need to be in guy mode, I either pull it back in a lame excuse for a ponytail or put a ski hat on.

If there is only thing I absolutely love about having long hair it would have to be feeling it move with me. I'm not sure whether I'll keep it whe the pandemic is over. I want to at least have it professionally styled, enfemme, once before I decide.

I too am sporting the "Covid Cut" - not having had it touched in about a year now.
It's pretty much down to my collar these days and I can pull MOST of it back into a pony, with only some wisps up front that still don't quite reach. I tuck these behind my ears when I'm tied back.
Mostly though, I'll "let it all hang out." Too bad it's so thin, fine, and flat.

I'm letting mine grow out, however it's slow progress - I'm getting the usual half and inch a month. It's going to be at least another 4-6 weeks before I get it trimmed, so I'll be beyond my eyebrows for my fringe.

If I lengthen my hair using faceapp, this is my natural look - very different to my current presentation with my wig, and far closer to my male appearance.

Rogain is as temporary as your continuity of use. You can get the generic version for next to nothing and, as long as you apply the stuff consistently, the impact is very real. My hairline is 100% appropriate for a man my age and if I were to let my hair grow long I would look like a 1970s pop singer. Wigs it is.

After 40+ Years of short hair, I finally let it go. Didn?t cut it from November ?19 - Oct ?20. It was already longer on top so I was able to get it all into a pony or thick man bun. I cut it for a few reasons and my wife was sad I did so. Honestly it was soooo hard to cut and I didn?t get over it for a month. Pretty pathetic that I let it bother me like that. It?s just that I wanted it so bad, and just as I was able to really enjoy it, I cut it. This cut wasn?t crazy short though, so now that it?s been nearly five months, I?m chasing that pony again. The wife braids it and I?m hoping to keep it for reals this time.

I keep kicking myself for cutting it, because Covid is still out there, at at this point it would?ve been probably 13-15? long and lovely. I hope I can do it. Biggest issue is work, as I?m in business, and not another soul has long hair. A couple women have encouraged me to do it and have said ?so what, let it go. When you have it, enjoy it!? It is a bit annoying that guys can do the beard thing, and are actually quite sloppy looking...so why not long hair, if I keep it nice?

I have noticed though that people are kinda getting used to it being longer, so that may help. The biggest thing is keeping it styled and trimmed appropriately, so that it?s shaped right...and then over time, just keep it going. With this approach I should have my full hair into a bun by July. Hoping to return and report!

If I lengthen my hair using faceapp, this is my natural look - very different to my current presentation with my wig, and far closer to my male appearance.

Mine is currently like yours...a little fuller and about two three inches shorter (basically a short bob at my mouth length)...you and I have similar face shape, so honestly a bob is a decent look. For “passing” bangs are preferred to help the brow, but there’s no way, I’d get bangs....maybe some longer layers to frame the face, but couldn’t do the bangs...I will say that I, my wife, and my friends were surprised how good I looked with my hair tied back. You can’t get that look my just brushing the hair back or wearing a hair band. Tying it back actually gives a softer feel, if done right. Even my conservative father liked it, so yeah, totally pissed that I cut it last year.

My plan was to have long hair before end of Covid...there would be no time to hear “you need a haircut, etc” because it would already be at length. I HOPE to still have enough length to play that strategy.

People sometimes like change...which is why women and men often get compliments for the sudden change in getting a short hair cut. If they see you gradually change w/long hair, the effect isn’t as strong.

Good luck Charlotte

At 66 years old, I have unbelievably soft, thick, beautiful silver/white and now shoulder length hair. Women are jealous. Unfortunately, I have bird legs, duck feet, an eagle beak, and enough chins for three people. I am also as big and graceful as a moose. Passing from a hair standpoint is easy. The rest is hopeless.

I grew my hair out to shoulder blade length as soon as I retired 10 years ago. I mostly wore a pony tail, but would style it when dressed. I was getting a prescription filled and looked in the video monitor and saw a great deal of scalp in what i thought was a full head of hair. My hair, always fine, had become so much so as to reveal way too much scalp. I was able to use mousse and hair spray to make it appear thicker, but then it was difficult to put in a pony tail.
About a year ago I decided it was becoming too much trouble, so I had it cut short. Unfortunately, the Chinese barber, the only one I could find in my new location, spoke limited English and didn't understand my instructions and cut it way too short. Then COVID kicked in so I haven't cut it since and it's about collar length now; I'll probably keep it long.

I have always let my hair grow long, in High School (80s) it was halfway down my back, and I loved it! Even if I got misteaken for a girl😁.. I wasn't as into crossdressing back then other than I would "borrow" my friends who had hot sisters panties from the sisters and usually girls pants like Jordash or whatever.. now my hair is once again to middle of my back! It's still thick, wavy and easy to do the fem style😊.. I love my long hair and lots of people at work (wintertime ski lift operator) love it too, I love it when ladies say long hair looks good on me, if they only what I wear under my ski pants uniform🤣... well to be fair my normal ski pants are hot pink and always wear a hot pink neck gator, I love pink!! I have been CDing for many years now, it kinda started before my wife and I got married, we went out to a Halloween party dressed as hookers!! Oh the feel of short skirts ,pantyhose and high heel boots😁.. several times since then we with our younger twokids have gone trick or treating with me dressed up, I love it I felt I could get away with it on Halloween!! So over the years my long dark brown hair has been girl styled!! Now at 54 I no longer care what people think, so I go for it! Can't wait to ski my next couple days in my new hot pink ROXY ski pants and I finally found a ladies jacket with a hot pink,White and black wave!! Most daring yet!!! I'll really look like a girl now but I happen to ski like a guy.. I like letting my long hair fly in the wind behind me!! I still however LOVE wearing my blonde wigs.. something about blondes!!!😁💃🏼

A frizzy perm. I had on of those in the mid 80's. It looked great leaving the hair salon, but my hair was too fine to look great. I settled on getting my hair colored after the perming experience, initially to hide the premature grey hairs, and then highlights to add a fashion look. How easily I was talked into various styles by my attractive hairdresser.
I have the same receding hair issues as many have, and 18 months ago lost the lot to chemotherapy for cancer. Most of it has grown back, but these days it's just to keep it neat and tidy, and whatever happens to my hair, happens.

Nice to come back to this post/theme and see that I?m still growing.

I got my last haircut the first time in Nov. ?19...I made it to October and since it was already longer on top, was able to tie all of it back before I wimped out and cut 5? off....,basically all of my gains. I seriously cried afterwards and my wife was upset that I cut it, knowing I?ve wanted to do it since I was a young child, but never got close. It was especially frustrating, because I realize now how much longer it would be, and that just eats at me.

HOWEVER...I?m determined. I haven?t cut it since October and I?m averaging a little more than 1/2? a month (cold water shampooing/conditioning has helped I think) and I?m about 80% of where I was before...so I?m getting there! My first plan was a great one, so I don?t know if I?ll be able to pull it off now...but I?m going to try.

First plan was simply to show up to the typical work people literally over a year or 18 months later, and surprise...ponytail, man bun, whatever...there wouldn?t have been this awkward phase w/looks like dude, get a hair cut, because I was already at length!

However, I think it?s still possible. I?m going on a road trip soon, I know I can pull it off and I?ve seen lots of guys with longer hair. The key is to keep it nice and looking sharp (as sharp as longerish hair can look on a man)...but it will still likely be another 2-3 months I think before things really start opening. By then, I SHOULD be able to tie it all back and I plan on trying.

IF I get some management questions or even subtle hints, my plan is to simply trim it an inch or two, but keep it longer, so they and everyone will just have to get use to it.

One other idea is to get a body wave and see if that helps when it?s down...you see, women are lucky...they can style or do whatever and still fit into the society norm and don?t think twice about it...that is hard to do as a middle age man.

But I?m going for it...and honestly, I?ve already gotten thru some of the hard parts.

I have to keep my short Male style (usual side parting on the left) but with lockdown I haven't had mine cut since Christmas so it is getting a bit longer, so have been watching some youtube videos on styling short hair for women. As soon as my Wife and son leave the house of a morning I can wet my hair down again and have a play and then sort it out mid afternoon so it os back to drab. I have even left it re-styled when I have been out to the supermarket (presenting Male but dressed almost entirely female)

I'm envious. I never had good hair. It was always too fine. Never long or thick enough. I'd grow it out and have it permed decades ago, but it never looked that great. Today it's grown sparse, and although I haven't had a haircut since some time before Covid, what's left of it doesn't even look that long. Oh well, thank goodness for wigs!

Mine is 3/4 down my back. I wish I had the time to go to a salon regularly and have it taken care of, but I am always too busy to take time for myself.

Having had long hair for about 5 years, I now understand why many women have shorter hair, especially as they age. It looks great but takes a lot of maintenance and can be difficult to manage.I am tempted to cut my hair and have it permed like my ex girlfriend, I always thought her short hairstyle was very charming.

EDELLA, I'm curious about your beautiful hair...."In 2015 I was bald, since then my hair grows with the assistance of a stylist,"...What sort of treatments are you getting. I too have thinning hair and wear wigs when I'm out and about. Would love to have hair like yours....Can you share your secrets!!! Thanks. NIKKI

I've had mine long off and on over the years. I'm starting to get widow's peaks, but otherwise still have plenty. My problem is that if it's not long enough to get all of it in a ponytail in spring when I put the winter hat away, I get frustrated with it blowing in my eyes and get it cut off. It's at that frustrating point now, since I had it cut short last spring (in the back yard by one of my non-hairdresser daughters!).

I really want to grow it long enough to have it cut in a longish bob, but... My wife and I were working in the yard last weekend. I had most of my hair in a pony tail, but the front was blowing all over (ah, Chicago). I started grumbling about it. My wife looked at me and said, "So, time for a pixie cut, eh?" Sigh, probably so, pandemic permitting.

A store video monitor is not going to be flattering as it is looking down at you from way overhead.
