Last week my girlfriend and I were talking about how important we were to each other and about the obstacles, mistakes and development our relationship went through.
We talked about the common difficulties someone who crossdresses encounters. I have been very fortunate to have her as a companion.
That left me wondering how would you describe the perfect SO?

One that is understanding, but yet openly shares her feelings. Someone that shares family and household responsibilities. More than that, but it is a start.

Beside the obvious sharing, openness, loving me for me and all that goes with that. The ability to accept my crossdressing and share everything about it.

A perfect SO doesn't mind how you look, or act ....what others think about their relationship with you.
You are their only lover, your SO is your best friend and confidant, and your SO takes care of you in every way.
Those feelings and thoughts are mutual and you both would never do anything to loose the trust established.
I've been married 27 years to my "SO" and I have found that marriage is usually less than perfect...
....you have to work at it everyday and even then, it's never perfect.
I will never give up doing my best, husband first. Maybe she will someday ask me to be Candy first....a work in progress! :battingeyelashes:

loyal, loving, affectionate, cute waggy tail, fluffy paws. likes to fetch, likes to cuddle, but stays off the bed when you bring home "company"

A woman who wears the same size bra as I do.... same size dress and same size heels.... Someone who has an amazingly good taste in women's fashion.... (and hates women's jeans) and makeup and knows how to style hair... someone who will scratch my back (and wax it).... someone who will let me shower them with love and affection and gifts.... and let me tie them up ... and tie me up :tongueout..... Someone who can drive a stick shift.... and likes to go out in the desert hunting for minerals and rocks.....

Gi - it's great that you have a supportive partner.
As Stevie Allyn & Blue Orchid have also stated, i am extremely happy with my marriage and wouldn't want to change that.

Thank you Krea. It?s very interesting to hear from all of you what requisites would be desirable.
Humor and lightness would be a must for me, but if I would choose just one should be to love me as I am.
I will not pretend to have know from the beginning of my relationship that would be the case but after knowing her for almost 3 years as a work partner I knew how she stood in diversity matters and felt that my chances as a crossdresser were not that bad!
I just hope for many of us here in this forum, when looking for a companion, know exactly what you want, establish some grounds what?s not acceptable and fight for that to work. Every one deserves to be fully loved! That should be the beginning.

When I lived down there... I got my fill of picking ramps and ginseng! Lol. And the only minerals is coal... which is dying... maybe we could just go shopping at the mall in Charleston and go to the casino? I will probably be tied up this spring but do appreciate the offer girlfriend!!

Definitely the woman I have been married to for the last 42 years!
Someone who has accepted a deeply wounded human being ( my childhood was awful ) and loved them anyway, and whose love has given me healing.
And she’s mine!!!

My SO has been loving, supportive, and proud of me and everything I have ever done - except for Monica. That's a line she refuses to cross. As a result, Monica exists entirely separate from my relationship. It's unfortunate and it forces me to be less than honest with my SO, but I honestly cannot complain. She is an extraordinary person.

I a lucky to be married to the near perfect wife. 48 years ago we joined our lives and have struggled through somehow crossdressing and other married issues. Love and respect has pulled us through. Along the way she has been a friend and a lover. That is my definition of the perfect significant other.

My wife and I will have been married fifty years later this year. Both of us are not perfect. We have our flaws which do not override all the positives. It would be nice not to be in a deep DADT. Maybe, the GG's should be asked the same question in the GG's only section.

Normally I would have but this pandemic has really killed my hockey career.... haven?t skated in over a year! plus my current SO likes hockey.... so my perfect SO does not really have to like ice hockey but it could be a plus! She would have to like Diet Dr Pepper!!

Nobody would likely think this due to my complaints about my strict DADT but my wife of 51 years next month is special. She is so special that I endure my own desires without acting on them. The bottom line is that I have a choice and elect to keep my dressing in check to maintain the peace. She is that awesome.

Ok I'm ready to take lumps for this one. How about turning into a roast beef sandwich at midnight. With cheese

BobbySue,
I think you're safe, I went totally misogynistic with the Jennifer Aniston quip and nobody flinched... :)

If SO's were predictable they would be boring, I do agree a good relationship can be had by someone who understands your desire to dress.
That is the big hurdle most encounter, I have been blessed most of my life with encouragement and acceptance.
