Going out of town and dressing

I am headed out of town on business and I have the opportunity to explore my freedoms a bit. In no way am I able to pass at this point, so I am thinking of bringing some gender blurring clothing and wearing some light makeup, (I.e. a small pair of Mary Janes or some 2.5? heeled booties, some stylish gender neutral dress jeans and a top, some nude color lipsticks some nail polish and my feminine jewelry)...
I find it rather exhilarating to think about and have discussed it with a female friend of mine and she?s very excited for me. She has confided very personal secrets to me, about her life, and we have a strictly plutonic relationship. She is a very good sounding board for me. I plan on ubering everywhere I need to be.
My concern is..... I?m gonna get out of town and choke. Lol
I?m afraid I won?t be able to keep my nerve up and will waste this golden opportunity that I have, to dress gender neutral/leaning toward feminine, chance that I have.

Has anyone else ever had this opportunity and just went out for the first time in mini heels and jeans and blurred the lines? What were your experiences and did you get harassed? What should I expect?

It is perfectly normal that you feel like all eyes are starring at you at first, but it is just not the case. Most will be oblivious to your attire if you are passing in an out of a hotel. Of those who do notice, most will say nothing. Of those who notice and say anything, you are much more likely to get a complement on something than a negative comment.

So my take on it is go out and be yourself. It truly does get easier over time. Although I usually like to go out in full girl mode, I have done all levels of dressing and it is all good. Have fun.

You can do it!! I have worn 100 percent female clothing (dress slacks and top and blazer... shoes and lingerie) in male mode and gone out to casinos and never had an issue. Apparently they will take my money now matter how I am dressed! Go for it! You are going to have a blast!

I never deliberately blurred the lines. I preferred to go full-girl mode (although my physical features and stature likely lent a decidedly male aspect to my appearance). You’ll have a great time.

Myself I have found just fo what your doing don?t look around to see who?s looking at you just do your own business. 99 percent will just go on without saying anything so long as you just be yourself. It does take much bravery in the beginning but each time it gets better. More confidence will come too. Have a great time. Relax and enjoy the night.

Why just "blur the line," Stiletto? If you do that, you're going to be noticeable anyway, just as you would be en femme if you can't pass. So why not "seize the day" and go whole hog in female clothes? Or you might start by "dipping your toes in the water," and when that goes well, then you can go whole hog, if you see what I mean. Just go prepared, that's all.

Out of interest, I was pondering on the reasons for Ubering as opposed to car rental. It might cost more, but I suppose it's easier for the Uber driver to find the way to places in an unfamiiar city. And parking can be a problem in some cities. it also gives you a chance to chat with the driver and find out good places to go to. Oh, yes, and you can afford to enjoy a few drinks without worry or risk! I do hope you enjoy the trip and make the most of it!

The reason for the Uber is the car rental for the cheapest entry level lease was over $500. Where I’m staying and the actually amount of driving I’ll be doing, Uber is way cheaper. Plus the cost of parking it’s just better this way.

Wow! I guess it's gone up a bit since I was working and making business trips! And I always enjoyed driving myself. But a wise decision on your part, with advantages of its own, and I hope you enjoy yourself.

Lots of "true" good advice here...I remember getting back out there after a long time...and it was "a leap of faith!" ...you grant yourself to do this.
Be faithful that it's no big deal, a lot of normal everyday people do this!
Be mindful, NO ONE knows the guy you.... because you are out of town!
Be faithful that when someone does something you may find may out yourself, you can let it bounce off yourself without a care.
NO one knows you!
Be knowing you are just another person, another fair, a customer, a shopper, a tourist.

This. Exactly what Candy said. And remember that all of us that go out regularly, all started with the exact same nerves you have (or worse), survived and kept going out because it really wasn’t a big deal after it was said and done.

Noticing you are from Ottawa, I have been out in some cities in Ontario. Never had an issue at all. Had makeup done at a Sephora (not an option now) and walked around malls and shops. I stick to daytime outings but good luck and enjoy yourself.

I?d just suggest not bringing enough clothes to give yourself an option. When you pack make sure that you have to wear your gender neutral/feminine clothing to make it through the week.

Doesn?t really work with the heels, but should with jeans and tops.

If you will be out of town, why not go all the way "female"? There is no "halfway" that's not going to draw attention. A guy wearing nail polish (colored) will stand out.

I have taken work trips just like this, and thought the exact same thing. I think your outfit sounds great, very similar to some of mine. For all of my worrying I have never been "accosted", I did once get the full "drop jawed" stare, but only once. I still love the adrenaline rush, don't let it deter you, embrace it. I envy you! My first time out was fully dressed. I don't wish to be seen as anything but a woman when I'm dressed.
Yes, many of my daily wear clothes are not men's but they aren't overtly female either. Jeans, t-shirts, sneakers all are fluid and not glaringly feminine.

Yes indeed! Hertz in particular ended up in banktruptcy court--and they used to be "#1"! They were caught flatfooted. They'd invested too much money in upgrading their fleet, and when Covid hit, it depressed the used car market too, making it harder for them to recoup investments by sale of used vehicles.

Well this is it I am going on vacation in Florida for a week as Jamie Plan on doing some snorkeling at the Springs. I do have a female design wetsuit for the cold water and a short wig to wear too. Hopefully will have some pictures taken to show all when I return. Like to hear from others who have taken a Florida vacation, gone snorkeling or scuba diving or just gone out dressed as a woman.

I slowly started by wearing dark slacks and black button down blouse. The black seems to hide my breast forms. Mostly I would go to wig shops and some dress shops. If I could wear a coat I would go to other stores. If I went to the wig shops I would wear some heels. I finally just recently went out fully dressed with wig, skirt and heels. It was a wonderful experience. As I could not pass with even good makeup, I found a lot of courage being able to wear the face mask for covid. The only thing that really showed was from the nose up. Just take each step at a time. Good Luck.

I hope you don't choke. I know how difficult the first time is even just blurring the lines. But it is so worth it if that is what you want. My first time out in Maryland was women's jeans and little heels I did get a chuckle from some late teen boys. But that was in a town 20 years ago.

I'm in the camp of dressing "total woman." I do not even own a single pair of women's pants, jeans, etc. When I go out it's in a dress, hosiery and heels, proper undergarments and wig. I'll do light facial makeup which is easy to remove if necessary. My comfort zone due to masculine build (six foot, 200 pounds) is drives and evening strolls. I concur caution should be taken if you're going to go for a stroll. My strolling in the early darkness is in a very residential area with single family homes. It is well established with lots of trees. There is a commercial area with two 24 hour grocery store and lots of shops and restaurants. The shops close up early; 6-7 PM. Nobody blends in taking walks and strolling at closed parks and highway rest stops. That's asking for trouble or inquiring police. I have found nobody really thinks twice of a woman walking home from one of those grocery stores with a tote with the logo of one of the stores. In the fall or winter when darkness comes early it appears it's nothing more than a woman coming home from work and having stopped at the grocery store. These evening strolls satisfy the urge to get out and feel the cool evening air on my legs.

I was like you Stephanie until a couple of years ago. I found wearing a dress or skirt to be cold some days. And I will be damned if I'm wearing boy clothes to be warm.
