View Full Version : Do you have a middle name?

Elizabeth G

Years ago when I decided to choose a femme name I quickly chose Elizabeth as a first name as I have always liked that name but it took me quite some time to choose a middle name (Anne). I haven't given this much thought since but the other day the subject of middle names came up in conversation and it got me wondering, if you have a femme name do you have a femme middle name too or just a first name?

Just a first name for me. It took me forever settling on my full first name. I've got nothing that really means anything to me as a middle name.

Lisa Gerrie

I'm Lisa Kay, which would have been my given name if I'd been born female.

April Rose
04-19-2021, 12:55 PM
Not really. When I introduce myself to other trans people I just say, "I'm April". but when on the rare occasions I need to sign my femme name, such as on my club sign up sheets I sign April Rose. So Rose is really my femme last name.

One of the local girls friended me when I first started to relive and reminisce about my youth and going out and being girly.
She showed me local places to go, answered a lot of my queries, and told me "who was who" in all the various "Clicks" of girl in the metro TG community.
Coleen is a jet setter and full time early retired gal who was president of Vanity Club, the oldest and most accomplished sorority of transgender women in the world. She goes to all the conferences, toured internationally to visit groups, and she knows a lot of people.
Anyway, I so admire her fun outlook on life I decided to take her name, as a middle name, as a tribute to her and the friendship she shows me.
Many thanks to Coleen McDonnell for helping a local gal onto our metro TG scene, all those many years ago. :daydreaming:

Interesting... I really haven't given it much thought. Joyce was chosen for the reason of several gg's that I knew had a more masculine look as well as it's further away from my male name but starts with the same letter. Swindell was chosen out of the blue. No reason other than feeling the need to have a last name and also has the same beginning letter as my given name.

So now what middle name shall I go with? I have to give it some thought.

Suggestions?

GretchenM = Gretchen Marie. I thought Marie went real nicely with Gretchen - it kind of flows. One person I communicate with through regular email always addresses me as Gretchen Marie. Feels nice.

My name was partly accidental as I chose a femme version of my male name for the forum and had it accepted . In hindsight it has worked out well because I use my femme name or it's shortened version all the time . Going one stage further I've adopted the femme version of my second name of Joanna so if and when I change my name officially I will be using the same initials which will make the changeover easier .

My middle name is Anne, which seems to be a popular one. Living in the South, I'll often go by Lori Anne. In fact, I introduced myself as Lori Anne (and my last name) at a Tri-Ess Meeting I attended.

When I joined this site I didn't think about a middle name so I just picked the name my parents would have given me had I been born female. I don't recall thinking about the topic of this thread in the past but it has inspired me to consider adopting Tracy as my middle name.

Only a first name for me, never thought about a middle name until now. Thanks a lot, now I have to! LOL

I adopted the first, middle and last name of a friends former, very attractive, friendly girlfriend, i felt that it fit me. She's now married but not to the friend and for a time when you'd enter the name on Facebook we'd both come up (along with other different spellings of the first name) If she only knew who I was if she entered her name and found the results as it was similar areas of residency too.

Yes, when I came out fully to my wife I chose my name and I wanted a middle name as well.
It's Claire. Cheryl Claire. I usually only use the initial but I wanted a name as well.

Until this moment, I have never got around to creating a middle name for Sarah. Now that I have admitted that, my choice is easy. I have now adopted Pauline as my middle name. That was the name of my mother who was such a role model as a mother and a friend to many. Sadly, cancer claimed her life at too young an age.

I combined my femme first and middle name for my name on this board. Lynn can also double as a last name if I ever need to use one when dressed.

Krisi
04-26-2021, 07:37 AM
No middle name here. Actually, "Krisi" is a name I only use in this group. Outside of here, I have no feminine name. I would like to use the name my mother was going to name me if I had been born female, but my wife has a dislike for a woman with that name so that's pretty much ruled out.

If I could get my wife to call me by a feminine name it would probably be a feminized version of my male name. I wouldn't be overly fond of that, but in the real world, we seldom get to chose out own names anyway.

None for me. Just plain old Jane. Very content with that.

CharlotteCD

Charlotte, as that was my intended female name, and Rose as a middle name as a variation on my own middle name.

Barbara Jo
04-26-2021, 01:32 PM
I chose the name Barbara Jo, with "Jo" as a middle name or a two part first name, as that was the "name" of the only woman who I ever truly loved. We even lived together for a while.
We went our separate ways decades ago.

Her mother used to call her "Bobbie Jo" although I never bothered to ask what the "Jo" referred to as I just always called her Barbra or Barb......and she never used any middle name when signing anything, etc...... not even when filing her taxes
I assumed that "Bobbie was like her mother's pet name for Barbara.

Tiger, when I legally changed my name and gender marker, as part of my full transition, I decided to ‘demote’ my former ‘male’ first name to make it my middle name, dropping my old male middle name at the same time. I felt this might make the change easier on my sister, since she could still use that name for me, and ‘not be wrong’, but also I felt it might make my own legal transition a bit easier, since what I used to sign my name as when I was male was still 2/3 of my new legal name.

But I was also a bit of a special case, in that my former male name was a unisex given name. It was ‘Jay’ - a name more likely to be assumed male than female, but still one that is used for women as well, and I have met several women who had that same first name. My mom chose not to name me ‘Jason’, but rather to have the three letter name be my legal one, and not a diminutive of my ‘real name’. If anyone should question it as my new middle name, I just say, ‘it’s the same as naming a girl ‘Robin’ - just a different bird name’.

Hi Elizabeth. :) I have only chosen a feminine first name, since I don't have any intentions of becoming a female full-time..... I'm only a part-time CD'er. LOL I simply chose to add the first initial of my given middle name at birth which is A., because on this forum, Kimberly had already been taken at the time I created my profile, so I made my screen name here Kimberly A. LOL
