My 11yr old granddaughter likes to wear glue on nails, not the kiddie ones but the same as we might wear. The other day she showed me her natural nail, it looked normal to me, but she said she hurt it when she pulled her glue on nails off.
I told her that she could damage her nail bed and should learn how to take them off properly. I started to tell her how and saw that she was looking at me with a funny look.
I realized that her grandpa was not expected to know that much about glue on nails, so I told her she needed to tell her mom what happened and learn how to take them off properly.

I guess I need to be careful of knowing too much about some things. LOL

I agree. However, sometimes I just say if you've been married for fifty years you learn a lot about women.

Grandparents are supposed to know things, even if how to remove glue on nails.

When I was "coming out " properly I needed to tell my close friends first, and guess what!! one couple are no longer friends of mine because the husband, read Bigot into this said " I would rather you did not come to MY house dressed". True I did not and now I ignore them completely!!!

Molly I catch myself all the time with the granddaughter's Like Steph I say 43 years of marriage and raising two daughters I have learned a lot of things out girly things. however I do get some fun looks from my grandson's, because of course they would never know anything like that.

You could have just told her you are familiar with different types of glues.
Having gotten some on your hands during projects you have found that doing removal some ways can damage your nails.
Problem solved, she's 11.

^this. I've used excuses similar to that, for when tiny bits of nail polish have been detected on my hands. I like pastel nail polishes, and those shades also are common as house paint.
As I'm a model railroader, I even get away with keeping actual nail polish in my tool shelf, which I explain away as much easier to find a color match for trim on the trains, than trying to mix and match regular model paints. Which is partially true; there have been times when I just brought a car or locomotive with me to the local beauty supply store, and asked the girl to help me find a color match for the trim or what not; the nail polish works quite well and seems very durable, plus nail polish is available in a billion shades, so it's easier to buy an already perfect color little bottle than trying to create my own. The fact that it also looks great on my nails, is just a secondary benefit.
