I have a question for you. Is there a character on TV or in the movies whose style you would love to emulate?
For me, it's Corabeth Godsey from The Waltons.

Very similar to this look of Vida Boheme in To Wong Foo.

I have always had a soft spot for the "prim and proper" look, if you will.

Not really.
It's taken me decades to find who I am and develop my style and I'm happy that way.

I totally enjoy watching Wheel of Fortune to see what Vanna White is wearing. She is in her 60's. Lately, she has been gravitating to knee length dresses. She has maintained her figure. When somebody says to dress age appropriate, all I have to do is watch Vanna White. Her "age appropriate" look transcends decades.

This is easy for me. Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson, law and order SVU. Beauty + Brains = Power. Works for me every time!

I guess owing to the coloring, Scandinavian background and now?ahem?maturity, I would look to someone like Candace Bergen

Kris, Olivia Benson was always hot but, to me, she totally had/has "semi-passing CD" butch-ish vibes.

I am thinking of doing Minnie Pearl. or "Doris Murphy (Roseann O'Donnell)" in A league of their own. I already have the outfit. Maybe I will take a few photos this evening. Oh and I also have the Minnie Pearl outfit too.

For me it is obvious! It is either Barbara Stanwyck in The Lady Eve:

or Barbara Stanwyck in Ball of Fire:

The first one that comes to my mind is Cher from Clueless.
The second one is Elle from Legally Blonde.

Olivia Benson has a very squarish face and jaw line, IMHO.

Rebecca on Ted Lasso. Love her look and style.
Another thing I'd like to see is a crossdressing character on a show who is not treated as a figure of comedy, or murdered (Ally McBeal, years ago) but who is accepted as a woman.

Ahh, Karren, Essie Davis what a glam. She has more style in the series, Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries, then half the people on the planet. My choice would be Dame Judy Dench back when she was 60 years younger. Or this loverly lady.

I have another entry - Kate Winslet. Thinking especially of her roles as Rose in Titanic, Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, April in Revolutionary Road, Sylvia in Finding Neverland, Hanna in The Reader
She's such a great actress, and her roles are not always glam, (Mare of Eastown) but her acting skill always grabs your attention. Once again for me, beauty and brains!

I?ve long stated that my aesthetic goal is somewhere in the vicinity of the intersection of Peg Bundy and Morticia Addams.

Samantha Stevens from Bewitched & Madonna in the wedding dress c. 1984 are a couple for me off top of head.

rebecca romijn, she was portrayed as a vindictive trans women "Alexis Meade" but tried to get rooted by asking for help from actual trans folks.

Joanna Lumley generally, although I'll never be that slim while there's still life in my body.
Jennifer Saunders too. I can probably fit in her clothes without modification, though.
You know what, just give me the whole Ab Fab wardrobe. I'll even take June Whitfield's clothes while we're at it.

Interesting to see the various posts. I think it is telling on generational differences and hints at when we each were most impressionable.
Probably some exceptions to that, too. ;-)

Doris Day from Touch of Mink

Doris Day from Touch of Mink, Liz Taylor in Butterfield 8 where she wore a 2 color slip, beige on bodice and cream fabric. At one time she went in a taxi with only her slip on under her fur coat.

Karen Allen ever since she wore this nightgown in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Someone on Etsy makes a reproduction for about $100. I need to lose weight before I order one.
