For some time I have been thinking about an orchiotomy to help with my transition. A few months ago I contacted a nearby center that performs transgender operations.
At that point I wasn't sure if I was going to do it I'm not full time yet but I after some thought I decided to go ahead and see if I could get the first letter required from a PhD. So I made an appointment at a local clinic that did evaluations for gender affirming letters and I had a wonderful talk with one of their doctors.
Today she sent me a copy of the letter that was sent to the clinic. The first part said a lot of stuff I already knew including a diagnosis of gender dysphoria but it was the first sentence of the second paragraph that really got to me.
"It is my opinion that Ms. Taylor is an excellent candidate for bottom surgery provided that your surgeons find her medically fit for the procedure."
I can't even describe my feelings after reading that.

What you wrote reminded me of my experience three years ago. After six months of different psychologists and doctor appointments with the gender committee of our public health I had a final interview in front of them all. They then gave me a document that I had fulfilled all the criteria of being transsexual and was now eligible for public health funded GCS and BA, plus gender change in the population registry. I cried! Sometimes we need that extra, professional affirmation. I am happy for you!

I got one of those letters to start hormone therapy. Even though I was asked what pronouns to use, seeing them in print was so heartwarming. Good luck on that surgery if you get to do it!
