One of the hassles of being a woman is the ritual in the ladies room. After you cope with your coat and purse (if you live in Chicago anyway) up comes the dress and slip and down go the hose and panties, then sit or squat over a dirty seat, then up come the panties and hose (don't snag them!) and pull yourself back together again girl!
But when nature calls and you are in the privacy of your own commode, do you sit or stand? Ask Windy (http://snurl.com/askwindy)

Always sit at home. At a public facility ... yes, well ...

Never gone out in public, so I do it the easy way. If, and when, I go out, I'll probably sit. Kinda hard to pass when you splash I would think. :)

Always sit, my wife has trained me well over 20 years to avoid near-misses and the seat ever being left up!!

Always sit I don't like the splash, and the same reason Fiona said seat never left up.
Here are some ststs. when a man stands up he can splash up to 18 inches, That would be 50 cms for our friends across the pond.
LOL ;)
Be who you want to be not what others think you should be

I alway sit too. I live on my own now and it makes cleaning the toilet SO MUCH easier! In fact, when my guy friends come over and take a pee with the toilet seat up, I get quite pissed off (no pun intended!). Now I know why women have such an issue with men's peeing habits!
50cm eh? That's half a freekin' meter!!

Georgette, I still work in the old imperial measures and understand 18" better than 50cm. :)
CBG, love your avatar. :)
Always sit.

Hi Girls,
The only time I ever stand now is on the rare occasion that me & my mate happen to go to the loo at the same time at work. Other than that I'm always sat in the cubicle.
I had a second visit to the motorway services loos last night (in the main building). I went in knowing there was a GG in there. Sat down and did what I had to. While I was in there someone came out and washed their hands. When I came out, the GG who I had seen go in there before me was at a sales stand browsing. I just walked straight past her & out to my car, head held high (as girls do).

Hi Girls,
I don't see any of this as any hassle. I enjoy lifting my coat and skirt, dropping my panties and sitting, relaxed, letting things happen. As for down go the hose, I dont like them. Im a hold-ups girl, so dont have to worry about either pulling down my hose, pulling them up, or adjusting them so they are comfortable agian and not showing above my skirt.

I'm guessing holdups are what we call thigh highs over here, I like them too but they keep sliding down my legs when I do any extended walking, so it's tights or pantyhose for me. At least we don't live back in the day when women wore girdles and stockings, I don't know how they managed.
And I have to admit, despite all the hassles, most ladies rooms are so much nicer and cleaner and it is kind of fun to stand in front of a full length mirror and fuss with your slip and hose like the other girls. Ask Windy (http://snurl.com/askwindy)

Definitely a sitter, even when I'm in the other halfs guise I still sit, just got into the habit of peeing that way and as everyone seems to agree it's far less messy and like Rachael I wear holdups it's far more conveinent

I usually sit. Minimizes spatter, and you don't have to wake up and turn on a light. wenda.

Seriously, you sit? Really? Oh, come on....really?
I am absolutely amazed. I've never considered it. I stand, always have, always will.
Not criticizing you, just absolutely flabbergasted. Never even considered it!
Wow!

I used to stand and stand only, but over the years I've drifted toward sitting, so now I do both, depending on the circumstances. If the wife is near I always sit, as she demands it.

Of course I always sit when dressed and sit about 70% of the time when in drab. It is always easier and neater the girly way, but sometimes it's not an option.

Try talking to the Proprietor when wearing petticoats. I almost always wear them when I go out.
I must be choosy about commode, stalls. Try pointing the equipment with one hand and holding up skirts and pettis with the other.
This is the one drawback to wearing petticoats, but if I am going to be a girl, then ladies sit when talking ot the Proprietor. If you are going to be a frou-frou freaque, then you put up with this because everything else you gain from it far outweighs this little disadvantage.
Besides, if you are gong to be a girl, you have to kvetch about at least one article of your clothing.

I have bad news for you dear, after a certain age, you become much less likely to be able to sleep comfortably through the night without a trip to the can. It is much easier to do this without waking up if you don't turn on the light. It is much easier to piss into the toilet with the light off if you are sitting on it. wenda.

Seems to be an epidemic outbreak of laziness sweeping the forum. Are we so unfit that we have to sit every time we go to the bathroom?! Time for aerobics!
:D

As a general rule I always sit. It is much more lady like and I don't have to worry about making a mess. the only time that I do stand is when at work and someone else is in the stall.

ALWAYS sit when dolled-up, sit about 50% when in drab.
I spend a lot of time on building sites using portable toilets......
it reminds me of Blade-Runner........' I've seen things you people will never believe......" !!!
AND, I'd say that womens rooms can be as filthy as mens rooms (in my experience anyway.
