With a winter storm approaching, I decided to do a quick Walrus Mart run for some supplies. As I was home alone I am wearing my a-cup forms, a sweater, and leggings. As I was going to wear a down vest as, I decided that was not inappropriate attire for a trip to the store. The vest would obscure the forms and leggings are not too unusual with a storm coming in. This was my first trip out with forms.
The trip went well, I got what I needed and was surprised when an employee excused himself for being in my way as I exited with a sincere "excuse me ma'am". I've been growing my hair out for several months and was wearing a mask (thus obscuring my beard), but I never thought anyone would mistake me for a woman under any circumstances. It put a smile on my face.

Love it. Wore leggings with no shorts out to the mall to buy drab clothes this wkd. Only got one weird look. Then a GG said ?very nice legs?. and I smiled biggly under my mask.

If you have seen any of the People of Walmart videos you would know that anything and everything is appropriate to wear shopping there!

Karen - Yeah, I was thinking that WalMart is a pretty forgiving environment.

Nice! Congratulations!
I think Wally world will be my next outing. I went to Home Depot a few months ago, and it went fine. I wore skinny jeans, black tank top, with gel inserts in my bra, with an open flannel shirt, sandals and painted toenails. I also wore a mask and sunglasses.
I was very very nervous. It seems like no one knew, and if they did, they didn't care.
I am obsessed with doing it again.

Mod note:
Please respect that making fun of particular stores on the open forum is not appropriate. Everyone has different store preferrences.

I've been more cautious about what I wear to Walmart over other stores, just because of the Peopleofwalmart website, as in I don't want to end up on there. I have no doubt there are a few hateful people who shop there just hoping to get a pic of someone who doesn't meet their "norm" so they can send it to the hateful site. I'm not aware of a Peopleofhomedepot site, etc, so I'll do a little more there and other places. Not much, not like what you did, I'm not that brave, but little things like anklets or painted toenails or a feminine t-shirt.

I went to home Depot on a weekday purposely because I knew it wasn't as busy as a weekend. To be quite honest I've had men hit on me when I was dressed as a man in that store. I went there in the middle of the week when it was not very busy and had no problems whatsoever.

Hi Ziggy,
So you're from Pennsylvania? This can be a little touchy, my Aunt lived there for Many years and has told me some Horror Stories about some of the attitudes of the "Locals". Have you encountered any extra Friction because of the Regional Heritage and Religious Beliefs in your area? I Guess that any Geographical Location can and does have "obstacles". Maybe I'm asking because of how she was Shirked because she wasn't of a certain Heritage, and was told that: she Would Never fit in!
I applaud you're venturing out; it can be Frightening as well as Confidence Building. Own it and I'm learning this as a GG too. I'm getting older and recently lost over 60 lbs. and am transitioning into more figure flattering clothing and being more Confident in My Appearance also. So, you're not alone in this.
Thank you Char GG, for pointing out that slandering businesses doesn't make the story More memorable. It can step on toes, and it need not do that.
Once again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Kay - While we live in a small town in a relatively rural part of PA, we are not in one of the most socially conservative areas. There is a bit of a tendency for long time residents to look at newcomers as a bit odd, but there are so many transplants to the area that it doesn't go much beyond that. Besides, I've been here over 40 years, so I'm probably one of the locals at this point. Still, I would not venture out in full female dress, as it is a socially conservative area and everyone knows everyone else's business.
On another note, I apologize if anyone took offense at my Walrus Mart comment. That was not intended to denigrate customers of WalMart but a gentle jab at the corporate behemoth that has run off most of the other retail options in the area. I am a frequent WalMart shopper, as is most everyone else in our town. The customers are a cross section of the residents of the community and no different, on average, than those who used to frequent other stores when we still had other stores.

Ziggie, My understanding is that unless you are born in whatever town or county one is talking about you will never truly be a local

Crissy - Here in rural PA at least, one is never really a native unless grandad was born in the county. I've just been here long enough that lots of people think I'm a native.
