View Full Version : For Fun: Your First Celebrity Crush

Recently, the lovely and talented Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes ("Be My Baby", "Walking In The Rain") passed away. Although my musical taste has ventured far from the bouncy '60s pop she and the group produced, I will always remember her. She was my first celebrity crush. When I saw her on TV, I couldn't get my eyes off of her - her voice, her eyes, those dresses, those fashions - yes even those wacky beehive hairdos seemed so alluring and exotic to my then 10 year old sensibilities. I will miss her.
So I ask you, my friends and colleagues, who was YOUR first celebrity crush? You may have several, it may be male or female, or even animated, but in fairness to the post they must not be current. Let's give tribute the celebs that turned us on when we were kids.
BTW - for those not familiar or before your time, that's Ronnie on the left.

As a kid and later as a teenager it was Annette Funicello. First, it was when she was a cast member on the Mickey Moue Club (1955-1959). Later, in all the Beach Party movies.

When I was a kid, I remember having my first sexual feelings in front of Jessica Lange washing under a waterfall in "King Kong". My first real celebrity crush was for Keira Knightley in "Bend It Like Beckham" and I was then fascinated by her filmography (always gorgeous period dresses). My first male crush didn't happen until 2012 when I saw Matt Bomer in "Magic Mike" :daydreaming: I also recommend the movie "Anything" where he plays a very beautiful transgender woman.

In case you don't remember her. She is the real life daughter of Ray Heatherton, better known as The Merry Mailman.
I watched his show all the time as a kid and Joey made her debut on that show.

Catherine Bach!!! I was just a kid when I first saw her playing the role of Daisy Duke but I fell madly in love with her. She is an incredibly beautiful woman and I was in awe of her. She was absolutely stunning in her tight shirts and cut-off shorts. Her legs were extraordinary and she always wore suntan pantyhose with open-toed high heels.

Saw her live on stage when she was in her late 50s or early 60s. She still looked hot. Bingo, Stephanie47!!! I remember making sure I was home from grade school in time to watch MM Club just so I could see Annette. I suspect she was the first girl that made me aware that boobs were what I liked. I was 10 years old when she joined MM Club and she was 3 years older than me. I liked most everything she did as an entertainer - some things more than others. As an adult she seemed to have her head on straight. It was a shame the health problems she had. To this day I still eat only Skippy Peanut Butter because she was a spokeswoman for the brand.

Back in the late 70s, early 80s so many teenage boys wanted to be with Debbie Harry from Blondie; but I wanted to BE her. She was so attractive, a style icon and had immense charisma, as a boy who so wished to be a girl, that's who I had my crush on.

I love the chronological diversity of the answers here. Excellent choices! In my case, I too was in love with Alyssa Milano as a kid. She seemed to be my age, pretty, sassy, and all that. However, when I saw Pretty Woman for the first time and saw Julia Roberts parading around in her street clothes, I knew that it was my absolute destiny to look like that. It was an aha moment in my young life.

How great it is to revisit this thread this morning and see all the wonderful answers and crushes. Just a couple of quick personal observations and remarks:
Cheryl - I had forgotten about Joey Heatherton - She was a beauty!
Lydia - Yes, Raquel especially in One Million Years BC and Fantastic Voyage. And her company makes such great wigs!
Wendy - In the US we did not get Tiswas as far as I know, but Sally James was/is a total knockout! I checked out her pics - what a fabulous mixed message she sent!
Finally Char - I always identified with John, but I've got to admit now Paul was pretty cute. It feels quite freeing to be able to drop the false machismo and admit something like that without getting beaten up.
I'm sure there are lots more - let's keep 'em coming

I'd have to say my first celeb crush was Brooke Nevin..... I know, most of you have probably never heard of her, but back when I was a kid, she was a teenage star on the show, "Animorphs". And my GOSH, I thought she was GORGEOUS! Shucks, she's still gorgeous and less than a year older than me! :bs: Oh, YEARS later Brooke Nevin guest starred in an episode of my favorite TV show, "Supernatural" way back in its first season and I thought it was SUPER cool to see her on there! LOL..... Other than that, I really dunno what all she's been on.
Coming in at a VERY close second is Amy Jo Johnson..... She played Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger in the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" back in the mid-1990s. Again, SO gorgeous! LOL And that's why I've chosen Kimberly for my feminine name. :bs:

I remember having a crush on the character Dulcie from the show "Cimarron Strip" back in the day.
The actress' name is Jill Townsend. I included a picture of her, but I don't think it's from the show.
And Mary Ann From Gilligan's Island - Sweet, Cute, Caring. Unlike that vain, self-centered Ginger (though I did like her wardrobe).

Although I would never have admitted it at the time, Britney Spears. (I think I may be a bit younger than average on this thread.) It's a bit cliche to say she made me feel things I hadn't felt before, but that raw sexuality and the confidence she had was intoxicating.

Having been a CD all my life and born in '47....
Growing up, there was no social media and just about 6 TV channels.
Anyway, at a quite early age I was attracted to.....
Noreen Corcoran
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noreen_Corcoran
Noreen had bit parts in many movies and many TV shows..... and she was quite feminine and sexy to me.
However, she is probably best known for portraying "Kelly Greg" on the old "Bachelor Father" TV series (1957-1962) and always wore a nice feminine dress on that show
I used to watch that show mainly just to see Noreen... and, even fantasized that I looked like her, :)

Keep in mind that Miss Kitty was the madam of the prostitutes at the saloon. That is why Marshal Dillon never hooked up with her .
"Dance hall" gal or "saloon gals" were just euphemisms for prostitutes.
BTW, it is sometimes said that cowboys won the west but, it was actually the women, including the many prostitutes. The women insisted on some civility and and safety where they went.:)

Some amazing celebs in this thread. Personal shoutout to Kris B. for Jayne Mansfield (my favorite bombshell) and another to AngelaYVR for Monica Bellucci (pure, feline sexiness defined).
As a young college guy, I was utterly mesmerized by Sherilyn Fenn who played the character, Audrey Horne, in the seminal Twin Peaks. The penultimate femme fatale blessed with the bold look (and eyebrows) of her illustrious forebear, Ava Gardner. Mind-bogglingly alluring.
