I'm looking for books or authors with "relatable" crossdressing protagonists or characters. It seems like when you enter a search that includes "crossdressing" and "fiction" everything you get is either forced crossdressing (punishment or sexual kink) or magical transformation (spell, potion) and most end in some sort of CD-on-M sex. (No wonder public opinion of crossdressers is what it is!!)

When I say "relatable" I mean an average guy who maybe works a 9-to-5, has a less-than-accepting spouse (maybe a DADT?), finds opportunity to dress maybe 4 or 5 times a month and consumes a lot of energy making sure he's not outed to the neighbors and community. He dresses strictly to fulfill his inner female with no sexual bents.

Maybe the protagonist is a crossdressing PI, or a mystery where one or more of the characters is CD?

Does anything like that exist out there?

I have written for Fictionmania for over 20 years under the name Anonymous Writer, I have penned 132 stories to date which have pretty much covered the gamut of the CD world. Some are innocent, some are more severe. I have seen the "magical" stories out there but have never written one. The site mostly deals with CD issues in all the forms imaginable and other sites online are much the same. As a writer I would say you are going to find it hard, if not impossible to find the type of CD stories you're looking for. There have been a lot of mainstream movies that close in on your idea but most go into the "pity" and the "psychological" nature of this condition and also how it affects others, which is mostly detrimentally. The "fetish" deal is there for sure due to the nature of the beast, that's just how it goes. This affliction has been around as long as man and writers have been grinding out these stories since paper and pen were invented. Interestingly, I saw a booklet that came from France on this very subject, a young lad being controlled by a rich governess. It was written in the 1700's! Anyway, there are a multitude of stories out there but few that will satisfy, as you say your "bent."

I really enjoyed a book by Claudia Carroll - ‘The Women of Primrose Square’. One of the the characters is a very relatable crossdressing (or perhaps transgendered) person. It’s a nice book and an easy read. I’d love to know if anyone else has read it and what they thought of it.

Shelby Dawn has written a lot of CD fiction on Literotica. It is pretty erotic and probably not exactly what you are looking for but she is a very good writer. I enjoy reading more erotic novels and have been getting more into kink as I get older.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong:

Wasn't there someone in "Midnight In the Garden Of Good And Evil?"

I didn't read it myself, but I seem to remember the movie...

Ruth Rendell?s -The New Girlfriend. Great short story made into a movie (French with subtitles). Highly sympathetic and CD friendly

I have not delved into any of the titles, but, when I use the search engine it seems a lot of titles pop up as being sold on Amazon. From some of the posts above I'm going to have to check some out.

I am not an avid reader. to date I do not remember reading any where the main character was a CD. just a couple books with a secondary character was an accepted CDer. my reading is done either on a tablet or my phone. I do have a small collection of printed books. After I read them I tend to give them away.
Have you read "Dancing with Wolves"? there is one character who is an Native American indian who is a Cross Dresser (Transgendered?).

I have read all of Shelby's works on Literotica. She is a good writer, but yes, they are a bit on the erotic side, but still not as extreme as much of CD based erotica. it seems that most stories are more into forced feminism, or gay, or bondage or sadomasochism. It is difficult to find loving CD stories, even worse trying to find married man(CD) and wife stories. There are some on Literotica, but hard to find!

I guess u meant relatable to u? The thing is, most writings about CD fantasies involve sex!

Writing about the personal issues of most generic dressers would either bore most folks or depress them to death:doh:

Maybe you'd prefer MY "written fantasies"? Which don't involve CD's, but who I'm attracted to, women! And, not only r they not G rated? They include photos!

So how r they CD connected, u mite ask?

Well, like it or not, they ALL feature Sherry!:battingeyelashes:
U'll find my BEST work on Fetlife. PM me to find me there!:heehee:

Try googling Sandy Thomas. She published CD books written by several writers. I have several in paperback and e-books. All I have read are tasteful yet not too graphic. Please let me know if this is helpful!

I have read CD and Trans fiction for years. Most of it on literotica.com and fictionmania.com. I find it difficult to find stories that fit exactly what I find appealing and interesting. Because of that I started to write my own stories and have several published on both those sits. Shelby Dawn and I have chatted via email and we joke that her stories have to happy endings, while mine have to have some drama and conflict.

One of my favorite is The Kiss Murder By Mehmet Murat Somer. It is available on Amazon HERE (https://www.amazon.com/Kiss-Murder-Mehmet-Murat-Somer/dp/0143114727/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236824033&sr=1-1)

This book is a fun read. A mystery novel set in Istanbul with the main character a CD and part owner of a "Transgender" club. The book was translated from Turkish with a few Turkish words left in the book, I found the book intriguing and fun. Don't worry if you are not up on your Turkish language, there is a one page glossary in the back of the book that cross-references the Turkish words. I will not give anything away about the plot, but there is a lot reference to the CD life in Istanbul. Enjoy.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Doc, you are right. "Relatable" is relatable to my life, my situation and my reality. You probably hit the nail on the head that the life of most generic crossdressers would bore most folks. But isn't boring and depressing a more realistic depiction of us?

Maybe if there were more stories of "generic crossdressers" public preception and acceptance of us might improve??

I've never understood the attraction to nonconsensual forced feminisation or bondage. The former is sexual assault; the latter is forcible confinement.

I generally stay away from stories that are sexual. If a sexual story depicts one or more minors, that could be considered a sexual offense punishable by jail time; I'm not interested in attracting that kind of attention.

Hehehe it was my first time writing something very explicit!

But it is based on a true story.

I just finished reading the Ladies Who Luncheon and I must applaud you. Oh my what a lovely story!! You have such a perfect touch with the details. Stunning love! Oh to be Laine! What a dream!

I'm sorry, I can't let this go! Just referencing a depraved, completely false "connection" between CD's and child porn I find VERY offensive, Giuseppina! And, I'm happy to say u r the only one to ever mention it in my 15 years here. I hope I will never see or hear it again anywhere!:censor:
