View Full Version : Had an MRI (knee injury descending a mountain)

The weird thing was putting my wig, breast forms and everything else in a small basket in a changing cubicle and seeing myself in a mirror in just a hospital gown. It took me a few seconds to realize I was still me, then I wondered if the glitter in my eyeshadow would cause an issue with the strong magnetic fields.
I still had glitter after the MRI

Hope your knee gets better, and doesn?t require surgery.

Good luck with your knee! I winced a bit thinking about it.

A knee injury and she's still in heels! That, sisters, is commitment!

Brave soul to be in heels with a knee injury! I'm also glad your eyelids didn't suddenly get pulled hahaha :)
Hope you heal up quick!

Rachel, Nice pic. I believe most glitter is made from aluminum and PET and therefore would not be affected by magnets. I hope your knee feels better.

Electrical engineering grad here.
Aluminum, is not attracted to magnets, but currents can be induced inside any material able to conduct electricity by magnetic fields.
Aluminum is a common transformer winding material.
If Rachel's eyelids were burnt during the MRI, she'd know about it by now.

Thanks Giuseppina, it's been a while since I had to think about electric motor theory and squirrel cages ( I didn't think anyone cared about that these days)
