Question for you height advantaged girls. I am 5'11" and I shop quite frequently completely dressed and I have found no issues with being tall. In fact I kind of find it as an advantage. I dress to blend and I'm very comfortable with how I present. I would love to hear from you taller girls that venture out in the public eye what your experiences and thoughts are.

Hi, Diane.

I'm 6'2" so I'm definitely taller than average, although women of my height exist. I just do my best to emulate them.

I don't know if my height is an advantage, but I have no trouble finding clothes that fit me and sometimes I find nice pieces on the clearance rack because it's too large for the average woman.

I'm 198, and I do think it hinders my passing a lot. Not that I'd pass if I was shorter, though. At least not during the day.
At night, there were occasions where I could've passed if not for my height. From a distance, in the dark, beard shadow is not very visible (especially with a long wig obscuring parts of your face), but I got clocked nevertheless.

It does result in some problems with the length of clothes as well. Blouses are usually fine, since they're often made too long. Skirts tend to be a bit shorter than normal on me, but it's not too bad. It's where dresses (and nightdresses) are concerned that it becomes a sizeable issue.
A dress that is meant to be slightly above the knee is a dress that'll work more as a shirt on me.
And then, there's the ordeal of finding women's shoes in size 45...

6" here. Most of my "dressed" trips these days have been to a casino where casual clothes are the rule. That it mind, my footwear is flats and sandals. I've seen a number of GGs taller (and bigger) than me, so I'm pretty comfortable there.

I do miss wearing heels, but my favorite TG-friendly bar has closed. When I do wear heels it makes me slighter taller than my BF, but he has no problem with it.

Honestly, I am also six foot two, and still find myself surprised to see women as tall or taller than me, even though it happens almost every time I go out. Its kinda reassuring. Often they are not only taller but more full figured than I am. Again, that makes me feel less conspicuous.

As for clothing choices, I have pretty good luck in buying pants/jeans with a 35 inch inseam. Dresses purchased from tall womens outlets seem to have waistlines that line up properly, something that seldom happens with dresses not meant for women above average in height.

Also 6' 2". I TRY to blend as much as possible, but... well, that's obvious how that goes! Usual attire is flats, leggings, top. Or sometimes a long skirt.
As casually-smart-feminine as I can manage!

I'm 6 ft and have never had an issue with height at all even wearing one pair of sandals I have with heels that put me 2 in higher. There are a lot of tall woman out & about these days so it's not unusual at all.

Diane, you DO realize that at 5'11" you occupy the "sweet spot" for GG's when it comes to height and are probably the envy of many of them. It's kind of the standard (rightly or wrongly) within the fashion industry, and most Supermodels are that height or even taller. Women's clothes - especially dresses and skirts - just seem to hang better when the wearer is in that height range. I'm 5'10", and on occasion when shopping "en femme" and trying on clothes I've had nearby GG's comment wistfully how good some of my choices looked on me specifically when they saw me checking myself out in the 3-sided mirrors of fitting room common areas.

I've also noticed how many websites for retailers of women's clothing now also mention the height of the models showcasing a particular item on their pages...usually to give an indication of where the waist or hemline can be expected to fall. These models are never under 5'8", and usually 5'10" or 5'11".

Oooooh. Just recently at my annual physical the ravages of time moved me from a lifelong 6'0" to...5'11". Boy me was horribly bruised. Girl me was pleased.

Kidding aside, my height doesn't worry me, I just wear it, wear my sky high heels if I wanna. Years ago I got a makeover at MAC. I looked fierce. However, the cashier, who I'm not sure read me, exclaimed "My, you're a tall drink of water!" I was tickled.

Hugs, Michelle

I dated a girl 6' 1" and had a 6' girlfriend for a couple years. Because of their height, neither ever wore anything but flats. :battingeyelashes:

Back then was before it ever occurred to me to try on women's things. So, I have no idea if their clothes or shoes would have fit me!

I’m 6’ 4” before I put on heels, I’m sure I stick out like a sore thumb. I find that any time I see at tall GG I’m instantly drawn to looking at them, but I realized I do the same if I see a very tall male too. People come in different sizes. So I don’t try to do anything to “blend” better. I just slip on my heels, accept that I’m tall and know that people will look at me.

Diane, I'm 6'2" before putting on heels, usually 2-3 inches. I'm a crossdresser and know I am read immediately, just don't care anymore.

at 5' 8" I do not have too much of an issue. But my belly needs to shrink.

I am another 6 foot 2 inch cross dresser, but I only own one pair of shoes which are a 3 inch heel. Then again, I have never left the house so I can’t say how people would react I don’t have much confidence to blend, mostly due to height and voice (and currently lots of body hair), but IF that day ever happens it is encouraging to hear that others can own it and not care. Just no where near there yet.

I'm 6' and the one big time opportunity to dress publicly, I still was passing despite my height so I never felt that it was any sort of a disadvantage or a giveaway. Granted, it was also a Pride event so I'm sure most knew that I was crossdressing at the event anyway.

Well, being 5'12" myself I must admit that at first venturing into the public eye was a bit scary.
I always felt that my height would be a clue to others and of course it would draw attention. I had to gain my self-confidence to overcome all that. Now I'm just a tall woman among others not quite as statuesque.

Once I began going out I paid more attention to people to learn what things captured their attention. I learned that everything does. If you are taller than average, shorter than average, thinner or heavier, darker or lighter, older or younger. Anything that is not along that median line is an attention getter to people. We just normally look at everything that isn't average. I remember I was someplace and the local college women's volleyball team was walking through. It was summer and they were all in shorts and tank tops and they were all over 6' tall. Everyone, and I do mean Everyone, stared and stared. It's just what people do.

I no longer worry about my height. I'm proud to be me. I walk with my head held high whether I'm in flats or heels.

6'3" here,
The few times I've ventured out dressed and went shopping, I've only had two issues;
The waist on that really cute dress I want is three inches too high, and
Where the h*ll are the size 12 1/2 heels to go with the skirt and top I got instead?

I'm between 5'11" and 6'. I like to wear heels and probably makes me stand out a bit. i posted quite a few pics on this site as to how i look. I am slightly larger at around 250, but i have lost alot of weight over the years. Clothing purchases are usually not that difficult. When i go out, i try to look good. I always say, if you are gonna do something, do it right. I have been trying to blend in a little more lately. Like i said, I like heels, but realized that sometimes flats are the preferred way to go, especially when grocery shopping. My experiences have been mixed. I have been ma'am'd several times and complimented on my looks or perfume several times, but can't get over the impression in my mind that i stand out and am being read more often than i realize.

I?m 5?10, but do wear flats, which are more comfortable anyway. My linebacker shoulders are hard to hide. To blend in around here, means no makeup, plain top and shorts, which are fine. All my skirts are pencil skirts and a little dressy. I?m pretty sure I was read on my latest outings, but?so what.

Decades ago my brother lived in the Washington, D.C. area where there was a social club with the minimum height requirement for men and women of six foot. He met his wife there. The only advantage I personally experienced was women gravitated to tall guys. I was six foot two until aging brought about some degree of spinal compression. Now, I am six foot and 200 pounds. There is no blending. Even when the women's basketball teams are visiting the local college guys like me stick out as those women are skinny.

My comfort zone is avoidance of judgmental crowds. I only wear dress, so it is a low rise wedge and a dress. It's evening strolls in a safe residential area.

Dresses? Being tall I have to avoid dresses with a defined waist. I wear empire waist, sheaths and wraps. I do not bother with enhancing my hips and butt with padding.

I have no problems. I even wear heels and walk very well in them. Pretty much everyone knows me or gets to know me. I've learned to adapt. Some say I enter a place like a runway model "owning it". I wasn't always able to be this way. With all eyes on me I was not given a choice. In the ends it worked out well.
