While on vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains this weekend with my girlfriend, I wore my women's black leggings with a long T-shirt out for a hike in the woods, that was no big deal as there were not too many people around. On the way back to our rental house she wanted to stop at Walmart for some groceries. This kinda of freaked me out a bit as this was kind of a rural town and the Walmart was super busy. I was somewhat uncomfortable, yet also excited, as this was my first time out in a busy public setting wearing leggings. I had the typical "all eyes are on me" feeling, even though, in reality I'd bet almost no one really cared or even really noticed. So I'll count this as my first time in public wearing something visibly feminine! The best part, was it did not even phase my girlfriend. She has accepted me for who I am.

I'd say this definitely counts - you're out- congratulations! Best of all is your girlfriends acceptance. Sounds like Maggie will be flourishing!

This ‘eyes on me’ feeling is something we have all experienced. Glad you were able to enjoy hiking and a little shopping with your girlfriend. Hope you have more such opportunities in the future!

Maggie, of all the places I'd be worried about what I was wearing, it would never be Walmart. Congrats anyways on pushing the envelope.

Kudos to your adventure out and your accepting girlfriend.

As far as Wally-worlds go, all manner of dress (or close to undress) have been observed.

Congrats, Maggie. You are out and that can never change. As others have said, Walmart may be the best place on earth to be out. We've all seen the Wal-Martian photos. Trust me, your presentation had to be tame to most of those pictures. Just be aware there is no turning back and you will want to be "out" a lot more often.

Congrats Maggie. I'm glad it went well. I also plan on wearing leggings for a trip up there in a few days.
