Weird thing happened today. I had to pay for my ?Brenda?s? phone (Pay as you go) today. I was in drab, and just a little nervous because Brenda?s phone is so clandestine (burner). Anyway the person helping me was great, but when all was said and done he handed me the receipt and said ?Thank you mam.? What the !?!?!?XO?!? Mind you the phone is under ?Brenda Stewart?, but WHAT!?!? I must have looked at him with big ?doe eyes? and all he did was give me a pleasant smile.

Hi Brenda,

I'm a bit ignorant regarding burner phones....did the cashier have ANY access to the name Brenda...i.e., was the phone in anyone's name at all? At first blush, it sounds like the name Brenda is somehow associated with the phone number in the records. Never had a burner phone myself.

Two possibilities at least. 1) he surmised that you are indeed Brenda. 2) He just misspoke.

So, to the motivation for having a burner phone. Since you probably are not cooking meth, can I safely assume the phone is to keep Brenda?s existent a secret from someone? No telltale trail of phone messages/calls? My question then is, what happens if/when the phone is discovered. (If you watched Breaking Bad, you know Walts phone was one of the giveaways discovered by Skylar.) It happens, just like a stash of pretty things can be discovered.

I will try to clarify just a bit. A burner phone is a phone that you can purchase with cash, nothing at all associates this phone to you when purchasing, activating, or using it. Brenda is like an alter ego, and has a gmail address. Google requires a verifiable contact number to activate your account, that is why I have the burner phone as the contact number. Google sends you a text to activate your account. I know there is a lot of ?sharing? of information, a surprising amount. (Yes, VPN via a cashcard.) It could be just a misspoken/misheard word, and maybe just the smile caught me off guard. Nothing important, just one of those curiosities of life. Yes, my wife is aware of the phone and has used it as a backup when needed.

HAHA...That was funny docrobbysherry. So when going out as Brenda then you use the burner phone? Personally I wish I had a burner car. I was parked outside a public place while dressed inside and the thought crossed my mind what if a friend had seen the car a decided to pop in...hmmm

CDMargret,

If a friend sees you car and decides to pop in, they the friend will get to meet Margret. These types of events are usually good things because they force you to come out and be yourself.
