On the 12th of July I will leave on a 6 day trip. On the 12th, Heather will leave home fully en femme except for lipstick and a wig. Those will be added about 3 miles from home. I will drive about 6 hours, shop for several hours, have dinner, and check in at a Holiday Inn Express. I hope to leave home about 10 a.m. and arrive at the hotel by 8 pm. After another 6 hour drive on Thursday, I will spend Thursday evening thru Saturday with friends and will only be in Heather mode once in my room for the night at a B&B.

On Sunday, after leaving the B&B, I will visit these friends for about 2 hours and then head for home. I am about to book a room at Linden Row Inn in Richmond, VA for that Sunday night. I want to stop along the way (early on my way) to change into Heather mode. This inn has a rich history of welcoming the LGBTQ+ community so I'm 100% confident I will have no issues there. I've no idea where I might go on a Sunday evening in Richmond that will be welcoming; but, I'll bet the check-in clerk will know. I plan to wear jeans and a top on the 12th as well as on the drive to Richmond. But, I'll be taking a dress along in case that would be more appropriate for Sunday evening.

I'm really forward to this trip.

Good for you Heather. Should be fun.
Take some pictures, or .. it didn't happen... lol
Too bad it appears out of the six days you only get one or two in Heather mode. In this case, more is always better.

We have stayed at the Linden Row Inn in Richmond Va and it is an excellent choice. That was a few years ago but would highly recommend it.
Pm me and I will recommend some places to eat!

Heather,

Enjoy your stay at Linden Row! We have stayed there twice, and it's a great place to sit on the porch and enjoy the courtyard (which had a stable back in the day, so it smells much better, I am sure). I don't know anything about the trans scene in Richmond, but it is a civilized place. I can recommend the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, most of which is free of admission. (If you go, I would love to hear your take on Salvador Dal?'s "The God of the Bay of Roses". PM me.)

I believe I have put together a plan for this trip. If you see any chinks in this plan, please give me your thoughts.

I will be leaving home Wednesday morning. Hopefully, I can secure a noon makeover at the ULTA location about an hour up the road. After that, I will go to the nail salon in the mall for a pedicure. As I make my way north, I will stop for a bit of shopping and dinner. Then I'll check into the Holiday Inn Express for the night. Unfortunately, in the morning I'll have to travel in drab as where I'm going is where I would be found out by people who don't need to know I CD. I may get by with underdressing with a lace bralette and forms. The forms are easily removed in the car before I reach my destination and I'll have time to remove the bralette before I meet anyone.

I leave there Sunday in the late morning. Since the place I'm staying in Richmond does not have on-site parking, I'll drive in drab to the Richmond, VA airport and park my car there for the night for $12.00. (My other option is a city parking lot a block from where I'm staying that has no security whatsoever.) I'll call an Uber to take me to the Linden Row Inn at an estimated cost of $18.00 plus tip = $25.00. I should get there about 3 p.m. allowing plenty of time to check in, put on makeup, get dressed, and go to an LGBTQ+ bar/club for dinner. It opens at 6 p.m. and is only 1 1/2 blocks from the inn. Depending upon the vibes I get at the club and whether or not I meet anyone interesting to talk with, my departure time is flexible. If I leave early, I will spend time in the lounge area at the inn. The next morning I'll get an Uber back to the airport and drive home. Of course on the drive home I will be underdressed with bralette and forms. My parking and Uber costs should be under $70.00 max which is less than a rental car and gives me peace of mind. Thieves love hemi Challengers and I figure the airport should be pretty secure.

If you find anything you feel I'm missing, please offer it. Yeah, I wish I could be en femme the entire trip; but, that's not possible.

Heather,

It sounds like you have a plan and while it would be lovely to be able to spend all your time enfemme I'm sure you'll get so much from the time you have. Bob voyage.

Looks like you've made some good plans for the trip. I'm a bit confused though. If I read correctly, you're getting a makeover and manicure on the drive up there but leaving the hotel the next morning in drab. Are you getting color when you do your manicure? Will you be removing it before leaving the hotel?

I'd also suggest you go ahead an make an appointment at Ulta so you are sure they can take you then.

I'll be getting a pedicure. I'll be wearing press-on nails on my fingers. I'll be wearing pink nails and ask that the pedi match them as close as possible. I've been wearing toenail polish for quite a while now. I've maintained it a pink color as I like it. I'd just like to have it done professionally as I know it will look a lot better than what I'm able to do.

Well, the best laid plans.......don't always work out. On Sunday night before my W, ednesday departure, I went on-line to make an appointment at ULTA. There were no available appointments at the 5 nearest ULTAS along my route. Any stores further than those 5 were out of the question as there's no way I could be certain of being on time. I guess that will wait for another time. Since that wasn't happening, I decided to forgo the pedicure as I really want to do the entire makeup/pedicure package at the same time. But, I did drive en femme, stopped for a small bit of shopping (didn't find any deals I couldn't resist), stopped for dinner, filled the gas tank, and checked in at the motel. On my way home, I stayed at the Linden Row Inn in Richmond. However, I made a horrible mistake. I left PA about 11:30 for what was supposed to be a 4 hour trip. Traffic was terrible and I didn't get to the Inn until 6:30. By the time I got checked in, got to my room, unpacked, put makeup on, got dressed in my favorite dress, and went outside to walk the 3 blocks to the LGBTQ+ club, it was pushing on dark (vs. daylight). About 2 blocks from the inn, I noticed 2 obviously homeless men sitting on steps. That got my attention being in a strange city. That is the first time I believe I've ever felt what a woman would likely feel. I turned tail and went right back to the inn. Nothing is worth feeling that uncomfortable about. I think my best bet is to go out in my own "neighborhood." By that, I don't mean so close to home that I'm likely to cross paths with someone I know. But, about 25 miles from home I know the lay of the land quite well and can go to 3 venues where I know the LGBTQ+ crowd hangs out. I'm simply going to have to muster up the courage to tell my wife I'd like to go out a few times a month to see what it's like.

Well darn it Heather, I'm sorry things did not all go according to plan. Sounds like you made the best of it, and had some enjoyable time on your trip.
Probably a good thing you erred on the side of caution while walking over to the club. If the hotel had a shuttle, I'd have asked about that, or used uber.

On Ulta, I have found not to totally trust their online booking system. Maybe call the store's salon direct and ask about getting you in. On my recent trip, I made the appointment online about 3 days in advance for a Friday morning, on Thursday night, I got a text canceling the appointment & suggesting a re schedule. I went to the store anyway to pick up a few things, talked to the salon receptionist & she got me right in. Danielle, the salon girl, told me that the online system sometimes does strange things.

I like your idea of visiting the closer venues, hope all goes well with your wife on that subject.

Heather,

I'm sorry it didn't work out. Getting time out from home is a really good idea anyway. It's not as good as spending the entire day en femme, but I've got my local support group's monthly meeting on my calendar, and last fall I bought a subscription to an inexpensive theater group in DC. Those evenings are Nancy's, by (reluctant) agreement from my wife.
