i want to shave my legs so I can wear some dresses.
if kids ask why what kind of excuses i can give

gurls throw your ideas, would love to try it. have a 15 and 8 year old girls living with me + wife (not in good terms DADT mode, so she is not going to notice it)

I shaved my legs for years without my kids knowing. Easy; don't wear shorts around the house.

Now, your wife? Oof. I'm sorry things are rough. I wouldn't push it if I were you, even if she's likely to not see your legs shaved. She may figure out anyway. If she does figure it out, that's one more pressure on a precarious situation.

Hmm I just told people that I like the clean look and feeling. I told them they should try it lol.

Noting was really ever said beyond that.

I spilled gorilla glue on my leg, and the only way to get it off was to shave it. Then my legs were mismatched so I had to shave them to make them look the same.

Ha, I tried to come up with all kinds of excuses like that. None of them work. Haha.

If you are in DADT mode your wife will notice, she would most likely in any event. Women do not miss much, what she has to say is a whole other story.

Likely no one will notice. Do you notice if any other males have hairless legs?

The first time I shaved my legs--on a business trip--my wife didn't notice.

I shave all of the time now. I spend a lot of time in shorts; bike shorts, tennis shorts, golf shorts, shorts shorts. I coach boys and girls high school tennis; no one has ever said anything.

I also do triathlons, so if anyone ever asks I can use that as an excuse (for example, easier to apply sunscreen without hair on your legs).

One time a dental hygienist noticed my shaved legs, and she said she knew I was a runner because an ex-boyfriend of hers was a runner and shaved his legs. I just went with that.

Just do it. Likely no one will notice.

I just started shaving them, no explanation was needed, no one ever asked.
The hair on my legs was always a light color anyways.

I did have someone ask why I shaved my chest. I simply told her a hairy chest sticking out of a dress looks really bad. lol

If you bicycle or run you have a great excuse. You are bound to fall sometime, and hairless legs are much better to bandage. That’s why many bikers and runners shave. It’s worked for me.

Shaved legs and underarms are much more comfortable. I've been shaving my legs for years, I wish I would have started sooner. My legs are my best feature. Nobody has ever said anything to me about it, though I'm kind of the quiet type that goes unnoticed most of the time.

Except for u furry bears!:heehee:

Thank goodness I've never had to shave them in 25+ years of dressing! Such a joy not to have that hassle!:o

No one notices or comments (my legs and arms have been shaved for 20 or more years and the hair just doesn't grow there any more)

I shave my legs, (chest and arm pits too) have done for over a year. I have three teen boys they have never said a word. My SO knows as I told her before I started, she wasn't happy at first but after seeing them shaved she says it is not that noticeable and she don't mind it. She has said in conversation to the kids that Dad shaves his legs, not one batted an eye lid tbh. I wear shorts all the time, even at work. No one has ever said anything. I don't know if they have noticed or not. I think kids are a lot more accepting of gender differences these days which is polar opposite to my generation.

I have thought about responses if something was said and the one I thought best plausible reason was that I like swimming but the best one I have said to my wife is I just feel cleaner shaved.

(Wife knows about dressing sort of accepts it but not happy about it)

I have been shaving my whole body for a number years and had very few comments and never about my legs. Getting out of the pool one day I a female friend asked if I shaved under my arms. I answered yes and that was the end of the conversation. I prefer the feel and the look. Body creams and especially sun cream goes on much easier. It has to be more hygienic especially if you have a good shaving regime. I shave every day in the shower and it probably adds about 5 minutes to my showering time. Post shower moisturiser is essential and one of those little brushes to stop ingrowing hairs is useful too. I use a lady shaving blade on my body to reduce the chance of shaving nicks.

Siva, I have been shaving everything below my nose for 20 years and I have had two comments. One from a guy in a locker room, of which I turned the question back on him. The other from my step-daughter and I just told her I found the hair itchy, which she accepted.

Being outdoors a lot I need to use sunscreen. Its a lot easier to put on with no hair so I am more likely to use it...Its for my own good.
At least that is what I say

Your wife will notice and so will your kids. Whether other people will notice depends a lot on how hairy you are to start with. If you resemble Sasquatch, they will notice. If you have little hair elswhere on your body, they maany not notice.

Any excuse you come up with for shaving your legs is just that, an "excuse". They will see through it.

You might get by with trimming your leg hair to 3/8" or so with an electric man's groomer.

This won't work in hot weather, but once it cools down, you can simply wear tights under your skirts or dresses. Pick a color that goes with your outfit.

A lot depends upon how hairy you are to begin with. It you're really hairy shaving will be noticed. If you have do not have a lot of hair, and if the hair is light and fine you may fly under the radar. My genetic profile has blessed me with no hair follicles on my thighs and calves as well as my underarms. My wife (DADT) says my lack of hair is "Wasted on a guy!" as she suffers through shaving her legs and underarms. My legs are as smooth as a baby's butt. The only comment I ever got was from my adult daughter when she was in her late 20's. Sitting across from me when I had shorts on (shorts even in winter) she asked if I shaved my legs. I asked her if it took this long for her to notice the absence of hair and I explained I do not have hair follicles on my legs.

I see a lot of guys wearing shorts with clean legs. Unless that is a natural look you're going to have to suffer along with the women in your life; shaving all the time.

For me, shaving my legs is more about how they feel than how they look. I'm fortunate that I don't have very hairy legs so I can mostly get by without shaving, but the smoothness of shaving what little I do have feels great.
I love how it feels with smooth legs in a dress or on the sheets in the bed.

But, for me nothing beats the feel of slick, smooth, shiny, nylons, or panty hose! And, u don't need to shave to feel them!:heehee:

Shaving legs - never needed an excuse or reason.
Shaving chest - my hair sticking out when I wear light T-shirts looks gross. Besides Chris Hemsworth does it and his bare chest doesn't bother you, now does it?
Shaving under arms - It helps with BO

I love shaved legs. Been doing it for years now. My wife will tell me if my legs are "Picky" so now I have to shave to keep her happy too.
I shave in the shower and after I am done, I moisturize and then the legs feel just wonderful.

On this issue, I won the lottery. My legs are naturally bald. I have some hair on my upper thighs but that is all. I pick off the occasional straggler with a razor in the shower and I am smooth. When my daughter noticed my smooth legs, I told her the truth about their being naturally bald. She glanced at the top of my head and did not challenge my reason. Then she remarked that she was jealous. Perfectly good baldness wasted on a guy.

I understand the motivation to come up with an excuse, but I'm with Di and Krisi. Sorry, an excuse is going to be seen RIGHT through and will make things worse in a bad situation. A lie is a lie is a lie. If you'll lie about that, what won't you lie about? Relationships are built on trust and honesty.

My wife complained that my hairy legs were making her itch in bed if we touched. She suggested trying to shave them. She sure didn't have to say it twice. I have been shaved ever since, and have moved to the rest of my body. I never had any issues in public since. BTW this was before she knew I was a crossdresser.

I wait until winter months and shave everything and take the chest hair down to a thinner level. Then I paint my toes and revel in slipping pantyhose on smooth legs. Once you're devoid of hair you notice every degree of cold on your skin. I just tell the missus that I took all the body hair off as it was very excessive and thick and I didn't want to look like the evolutionary chart. I keep myself like this until warmer weather.

I’m of the age where I see a PA for a skin examination every 3 months. Being shaved makes the process a whole lot easier. I don’t care what others think and no one who has noticed has said anything. HOWEVER, not knowing how you wife will react is a big question mark. That my wife doesn’t care has no bearing on how you wife will react. Good luck!

I first shaved my legs back in 2013, and loved it. I knew the spouse (who doesn't know about my dressing) would notice, so I wove a careful half-truth. My lower legs dry out in the winter and itch -- I have at times scratched them until they bleed. I said I heard that a remedy was to shave your legs and use a skin moisturizer, which I did. It worked, but I think the shaving had little to do with it.

Last week, in preparation to going to a social group meeting, I shaved to about half way up my thigh. If I am called on it, I can say it was to help with the knee brace I had been wearing for a little while.

1. Hair on the back of my legs would get pulled at when driving in shorts and would be painful, no longer a problem once it's gone.
2. My wife touches my legs more since the hair is gone.
3. Glue or caulk or paint spilled on my legs is much easier to remove without hair.
4. Suntan lotion is much easier to apply without hair, same for moisturizer.
5. Does anyone think that excessive body hair on a guy is sexy? More importantly, do you or your wife?
6. Football players, cyclists, swimmers, and porn stars often shave.
7. My legs have been clean for over 10 years now and I wear shorts about 360 days per year. They've been noticed and commented on 4 times and the above explanations were readily accepted the 2 times that an explanation was asked for. The other 2 times after being asked if I shave my legs I replied "Yes" and that was the end of the conversation.

I strongly suggest waxing or using an epilator, I use the latter and now there's hardly any hair to remove. Previously I had to shave them daily to avoid the stubble.

(Asking for a friend!):heehee:

Not true
Hair grows at a consistent rate regardless of shaving or not.
As for thicker, it may seem that way because hair tapers from the root to the tip and you just cut the tipoff, so...

Just a hint, I've been epilating for a few years and a lot of the hair on my legs has just given up to the point that I only have a few spots that require attention any more.

Hi Siva

I have been hairless (legs, body, arms, pits) for for a few years now and in my experience there are 3 groups to consider:

1) Everyday Public - never been asked about my smooth legs and as a regular gym goer and short wearer am sure they are noticed. If asked I would just own it and say I prefer smooth over hairy. Its not wholly unusual for guys to go smooth.

2) Friend and Family - this group will definitely ask, and ask, and ask, as it is rather unusual at first, but will eventually accept it as your norm. I just owned it said I prefer smooth over hairy.

3) Your SO - I guess it depends on you relationship and its is probably where you will get the most scrutiny, even revulsion at first. I gradually removed hair, section by section, over period of time (like thinking she wouldn't notice - doh me!) We eventually had the chat and I again I owned it and said I prefer smooth over hairy and that they were my legs (I would never dictate how she should groom so expect the same in reverse). I don't think she particularly likes it, but doesn't complain.

BTW - using the cycling, swimming excuse seems a bit lame and may draw more attention, i.e. "what is he trying to hide" etc...

As an aside, I never really shaved (creates stubble) but started with epilation, then regular wax, then IPL, then back to epilation (If you can get over the initial pain shock it will last longer and regrowth is much slower and thinner)

Go for it!

Cheers
Alison

Epilators work best on hair of length 3mm or 1/8 inch. Some units claim to work on hair as short as 0.5mm. Most recommend hair should be no longer than 10mm or 0.4inch.

I started by shaving the top of my feet and slowly worked up my leg a little at a time stopping at my knee. They were smooth for months and my wife never noticed until I was laying in an emergency room bed. She got up from her chair and ran her hand over one of them. She asked if I had shaved them and I said no… it was the result of my boots rubbing against the leg. I was a firefighter for over thirty years and there is a touch of true to it. I could tell she didn’t really believe me but let it go. I stopped shaving.

Two years later I started shaving them again. Same thing, started at my feet and eventually made it to my knees. Again it wasn’t noticed until one evening when the kids were here for dinner one evening. She stopped what she was doing suddenly and bent down and ran her hands over them and loudly asked if I shaved my legs. I admitted I did and used the excuse that it made the lotion I used for my dry skin work better and felt better going on… both true. My son basically said who cares if he does… my daughter commented that shaving her legs made her dry skin worse. My wife didn’t really say anything else.

I haven’t shaved them the in about two years but… thinking I will this fall…

I used to shave legs but the hair grew back quickly. Wife suggested Brazillian wax and chest wax. I am not overly hairy but Brazillian was worth it and waxed my own legs with supermarket wax strips. Moisturise legs and like others love the feeling of hose on clean legs. Wife wants me IPL?d down under now

If you make up an excuse, then you are perpetuating the idea that it is unacceptable (unless you have a good excuse) for men to shave their legs. This doesn't help your case.

Own it. Just say you like it. It will make you sound confident instead of apologetic. Most people will respect that.

I don't shave my legs yet but I think this winter I will. I do a lot of stuff in the outdoors in the winter and started wearing womens leggings as long underwear. Honestly they are cheaper than mens and they come in high waist so they stay up better than mens. Anyway about half way through winter my hair is almost all wore off anyway so I'm just going to go ahead and clean them up.

Shaving every third day for years now. My lovely wife is fully accepting of my dressing. I have only had one mention my hairless legs and it was my Mom commenting to my wife that I had no hair on my legs. She said he is just smooth like that. Nothing else said. Wearing shorts all summer long and no one notices.

Like my Mom I am sure your wife will notice. Hope it goes well for you. Like others have said just own it. " I like that way". No excuses needed.

Shaving in general is the way to go for a proper dressing (at least is my opinion). You don't need to worry about what others will say, you can't control it... but a simple reply "because I like this way" will do the job.

So enjoy your smooth legs, you are doing for yourself.

Well done, I tend to do a two day cycle, legs one day, chest next day, then day off. Mainly with shave gel and razor. If I ever get time I use Veet for men and use razor as well but that like once every two months lol. More recently I found out you can use hair conditioner instead of gel so I'm currently giving that a go. Results are good so far. Experiment to figure out what works for you.

I typically have shaven legs from the end of October to around the March / April timeframe. When my kids were younger, I would make sure I always wore pants when they were around. Last year / season, I started wearing shorts. After about three weeks, my eldest finally noticed my legs were shaven. I did not make an issue out of it and neither did my wife. I just said I liked how my legs feel without the hair. Within an hour, my kids were onto something else. My father in-law also visited us while I had shaven legs. He never asked and I just went about my routines not making any effort to hide I shave my legs. My viewpoint is similar to many of the ladies who posted here, I don't think people really care what you do. If anyone does make an issue out of it, I would say its personal preference and none of their business.

Last year, after years of an overabundance of body hair due to testosterone injections, I finally had a moment where my left hand landed on my bare left thigh and the sensation was what I would describe as "petting and Airedale". That one realization led me to finally shave just about everything from the neck down. I love the feel of smooth legs, chest, belly and otherwise.

I told my wife the Airedale experience and began shaving without input from her. My problem is that the smooth feel never lasts more than about 12 hours and was a definite hindrance to any intimacy in my marriage. So I backed off from shaving for a bit.

I've gone back to a moderated shaving routine

One day last year, during the time I stayed smooth-ish. My daughter and her family were at our house and we'd settled in to watch a movie. She looked over at me and stared intently at my bare shins and calves. It was obvious that she was trying to figure out if they were really smooth. She knows my legs are naturally hairy and used to have a lot of fun pulling it as a kid. My daughter is one of the extremely aware people who notice everything and I'm sure she'd noticed that I'm not currently shaving my lower legs. I did tell her once about the Airedale experience and she cracked up. She even mentioned the conversation later, spontaneously laughing at the idea. So, I think she'd just roll with the idea. Not so much about my second wardrobe.

Why give an excuse for shaving your legs? Simply say it's a matter of personal preference.

This.

I *love* shaving my legs - I love both the process and the results. Naturally, my legs are quite hairy, and it's such an effort to keep them hair-free that most of the time I don't bother. I have precious little time to dress anyway - a few hours a year unless I go on holiday by myself for a few days, which rarely happens (I did get away for one night last year). I attend a sports club every week, and change in a communal changing room with the other regulars. I've shaved my legs on a few occasions, and no-one has ever said anything, though I did see one guy looking at my legs once with a slightly puzzled expression on his face. My plan, should anyone ask, is to say that I just really like the feeling and to recommend they try it.

The one who really notices of course is my wife. She doesn't mind them smooth but hates them after even just a day if I haven't shaved them, which is why it's such high maintenance.

If your relationship is DADT then yes she will take note, but the world in general will not care.
Although if you now look like a cave man, the change might be noted by many who 'know' you.
That being said, I have been sans hair for years YEARS!!! No one has ever commented.
I would suggest rather than shave, invest in a epilator. It WILL hurt at first.
But the longer you use it the less hair you will have. Plus it lasts longer, and the stubble is not all that bad.
