I sometimes miss those first time feelings. The first time I fell asleep on the couch and woke up to see my pantyhosed legs it was the most amazing feeling. Tonight I did and when I woke up I barely took in consideration that I was dressed. Just like the first time I woke up from bed wearing a silk nighty, I had the most amazing feeling and had the most amazing day. Now it still feels great but not the same.
I guess I drove to my dead end and just thought about it tonight when I didn't feel that same excitement when I woke up on the couch. It's amazing how it just becomes normal after a while and now I'm wondering when my next first of something else will be. Anyone else get that what was so amazing is now normal feeling.

Duh, everyone does. from first time love to first time winning to first time feeling good about self, to first time..... well you get the idea.
I've given up looking for a first time thrill, and just love enjoying the new normal. The new normal is so much more satisfying than the old non CD normal there is no comparison. I'll take that over any fleeting first time feeling.

Getting a new dress still has some of that first time feeling (but half way through the semester I am too tired to dress when I get home from work after 9pm)

If I want that adrenaline rush, I have to think of new ways of pushing the dressing or situations, do something completely different than you normally would. for instance go to the mall dressed to the nines, visit the makeup girls and get them to touch your makeup up, wear something a bit more risky than you normally do when out shopping etc break the routine

Now you understand why women hate dressing up, head to heals. It's no big deal but ass pain. Unless it's a special occasion ie anniversary, gala etc. I love to dress up when I'm .meeting dating one of my girlfriends for lunch and then yada yada yada.

My little thrill, my little feel good factor is getting up in the morning and putting on femme attire. Nothing flash, just a slip on skirt and top, this time of year hose too. Just that chance to be me. I doubt it'll ever fade.

Oh don't get me wrong I love the new norm but I guess I'm just saying I miss that first excitement. My wife would always ask me why I bother wearing a silk nighty of stockings to bed. After all I'm sleeping what's the thrill, I tell her the amazing feeling if I should wake up in the middle of the night. Plus what a great start to the day when I wake up and feel the silk and see my pantyhosed legs.

Fully understandable. First times for anything can be exciting. And for awhile there are various degrees of excitement each time. But then it becomes normalized.
Our brains love change because it gives it something new and different to do, but then as it becomes normalized, the early excitement fades away, but usually the good feelings of something that was once exciting continue.
It falls under the category of Learning. It is an effect from neuralpasticity - the ability of the brain to adjust to changes and incorporate it into the general knowledge it holds. No right or wrong, necessarily, but just an acceptance of something new that provides a new level of consistency of your individual range of experiences.
However, if the action clashes with something that you learned that such behavior is wrong then it takes some time to reconcile the conflict before there is a normalization by discovering there really isn't anything bad or dangerous about that. And if it is consistent with other things the excitement fades and the action just feels good. Simply amazing! A good observation, Maria.

In the addiction treatment/recovery community we talk about "euphoric recall" where first-time or early experiences make such a deep impression that we spend the rest of our lives chasing the feeling of that "first high". We remember and idealize the good parts. How good the fabric felt, not how afraid we were of being caught at that moment. Every time I try on a new item of clothing, improve my makeup, do something novel while dressed, or even recombine old clothes to create a new outfit, I get a little taste of that first-time magic. For me, it's a matter of living in the moment. Closing my eyes and appreciating for a few seconds how good the fabric feels right now.
I'm absolutely NOT trying to imply that crossdressing is addictive or harmful in the way that alcohol and drugs can be, just noting a universal human behavior. The same thing happens with romantic relationships.
I want to understand
Isn’t feeling it is normal a good thing?
Feeling like a woman does?
To me it seems like it would ?
I guess for some it is only the high ( like a fetish)
Not sure how to word it here .
But normal seems like progress to me that you accept yourself.

I have been having an opportunity to be dressed completely as a woman since this this morning. For now, this is several hours without any risk to get disclosed.
After being in this state I feel like the woman, very relaxed and natural. That's why I do that.
Not need to say, I don't want to leave the feminine world.

I think the initial excitement and buzz of the 1st time forbidden fruit fades for most us . Not that the enjoyment loses its appeal. Donna and Gretchen have hit the nail on the head. It becomes the new normal.

Since retirement, my norm is dressing daily. I kinda miss the excitement of putting on panties, bra, etc. but, happily, I continue to feel excitement as I slip hose on my smooth, lotioned legs. I, too wear panties, hose and a nighty to bed. My wife asked me the same question. Why? I just smiled.

What's so amazing and nice to me is that I now feel normal when I'm dressed en femme. I look in the mirror and see a not-so bad-looking woman instead of a man in women's clothes. I no longer feel ashamed because I have gotten rid of most of the judgment I had before. I've also learned from my therapist and my experiences out in the world that the terrible things I've been afraid of are less likely than I've feared, and that my fears have been rooted in that very same self-judgment. So, no, I don't mind the absence of the giddy, guilty feelings I had 18 years ago. What I feel today is much more pleasant.

If I cold bottle the euphoric feeling I got the first time I consciously crossdressed and saw myself in a dress I could corner the recreational drug market. While there have been a lot of highs along the road, none have surpassed the first time!
While I agree that crossdressing isn't an addiction, for many of us, it is a close parallel. Can't tell you how many times I've quit cross dressing for good but here I am writing this wearing a cute outfit. And there have been times when I've felt such a strong craving to dress that I could hardly concentrate on other things. I know it's not an addiction but sometimes it sure feels like it.

I was thinking about this topic just last week. I am not passable but love to dress if I know I am going to be in the office all day I wear pantyhose under my slacks. It use to be very exciting to me but now it is not so much. I still enjoy the feel but there is not the excitement of it I was feeling kind of depressed about it wondering why I was taking the risk of wearing pantyhose and getting caught of my slacks slid up my leg or if I bent over and people could see the top of the pantyhose. In the end I decided I still wanted to wear them because I do feel sexier. When I got home though and put on a favorite nighty the excitement was back. I love how I look in that long night gown.

I know the feeling to some degree. I had been wearing a light pink toenail polish for quite a while. My wife saw it every day and has said nothing about it. While I liked having nail polish, it lost a bit of the excitement I first felt having it on. About 3 weeks ago, I purchased a very, very, red polish. Every night as we relax in the family room, I have my bare feet on a foot stool/ottoman with those bright red toenails looking at me. I realized these red toenails are one of the things that make me feel feminine. I can hardly wait to get a professional pedicure so they look 100% nicer than they do with my amateurish attempts.
I do believe part of why we might lose that feeling of excitement we initially felt is due to the fact we just feel so at ease dressing. To me, it is simply a part of my life now.

Mostly when I dress it"s something I have worn many times and it just feels normal. But I still get such joy from tying on a new dress. I hope that feeling never goes away.

Oh, heck no! If u mean that 1st arousing feeling trying on my first nylons, girdle, or breast forms? Those acts do little or nothing for me anymore!
However, if you're a CD like me who keeps stretching your female self? U wouldn't believe the excitement u can create for yourself!:o
I've been dressing for 25+ years and been going out for 15+. But, the Hollywood Halloween party we attended last nite was a record outing for this 80 y/o! With the next oldest woman I saw among the 300+ there in her 40's!:battingeyelashes:

I get what you are saying. Imagine the excitement when I went into a bar for the very first time dressed and went in just wearing lingerie with black thigh high stockings. I posted a picture of what I was wearing some time ago. That was 2017. Now that I have been to over 40 clubs or bars, some of them many times, I will never get that first time thrill again, but I still love going out.

Maria, All first time feelings are more extreme. First time wearing a dress, going out dressed, etc. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy the feeling, it's just not as extreme.
