I have all these nice dresses skirts and tops. But I have no place to go where I can wear them. Not going wear them shopping or going to the park. And most restaurants are casuals. Plus I would need someone to go with.

Where do you go to dress up and have a good time? It's been 16 yrs since I went out dressed nice.

Plays, symphony, ballet, anything that is at a higher-end concert venue, (not a huge stadium). I work at a small concert place and many people attend very dressed up. I've seen many CDers, some that I know, attend. Once you find a place that has Broadway plays, you have probably found your place.

This past weekend, many ladies showed up in long dresses, while others showed up in jeans.

Where does one go to dress up and have fun. It kind of depends on what the person thinks of as fun.

Some people do not really want to interact with others, but that is all I want to do so it helps to know what level of interaction if any is desired.

Oddly enough, I think it is a misperception that another is needed as a crutch. I have had some of my best interactions with others specifically because I was by myself. One such time I posted about was when I was wearing a dress, eating breakfast at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. People often eat there solo. In my case, a woman asked me to join her and her friend. It was great fun.

The thing is, you half to get out there to experience such things. I realize some will never leave home. For me, it has been worth the effort. just decide what you like to do first and go with it.

You might not want to go the places I like to go to though ; )

I still see women dressed up in my area on several occasions: (1) commute to/from work, (2) mid day run to the shopping mall or to lunch, (3) mall shopping right after work and (4) lunch after church.

Your profile says "Detroit". I believe that members of this forum have talked about a Detroit social group. If it still exists, arrange to meet one or more of them.

For example, https://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?259389-Detroit-Invasion-Mk-XV-July-2018&highlight=detroit

I just searched for "Detroit"

I agree with char. Concert halls, live theatres, etc. all are great venues for getting dolled up. Clubwear works for all kinds of clubs and smaller entertainment venues. Bars are not my thing, drab or femme, so I will leave them for others to comment.

Shopping malls are good places to go dressed up in office clothes, including higher end business attire. Go around lunch hour or between 3pm to 6pm. You will fit right in. Be careful of packs of teenagers on school day late afternoons.

A year ago I saw Bruce Springsteen in a dress, fishnets, and heels, while 99% of the other GGs were casual. Did not care.

Went to the theater twice in May, albeit it with other GGs. But I also have gone to Hamilton by myself. Done concerts by myself.

Cheesecake Factory restaurants are a good place to go. Art Museums. Train trips, flying, casinos, baseball games--just go for it.

Glenda:

I agree with Char. I always dress nicely at the arts center I volunteer at helping out on the evenings of a concert or fund raiser. My fellow female volunteers now always expect me to wear something cute for the evening. Also going to venues where stage or Broadway shows are an excellent place to dress up and not look overdressed. Also if you ever get the chance to attend the local symphony dressing up is almost expected. Also, venues such as these locations are almost certainly accepting to CD, TG, or non binary individuals.

Hugs, Zoey

As someone who enjoys photography, I like taking my camera to the flower gardens, museum, historic steam train rides.
I also like to dress nicely to the local movie house.
Today was a trip to the medical lab for blood test in a short red dress, had lovely interactions with other patients waiting and staff (better than if I went in male mode)

Glenda I called my local LGBTQIA+ community center and asked if they new a excepting church in my area. I'm able to wear a dress I have so many I hope I can get there more often.

Any time I go to an appointment I go dressed to the nines.
The only exception is the local gym although I am pushing some boundaries by wearing a black leotard.
I have joined Stitch which may be an option for you Glenda. It is an American based site and they say they are worldwide.
I have already posted about some interactions on this site.
Another one here is called Connected Women. This is just for women over 50 and there are always many different passtime one can attend.
Like Sandi said you really do have to take the plunge and put yourself out there.

Great thread. I dress as a peacock if we go out to the arts, which we love. Never had the opportunity to dress En fem on such occasions, much as I would love to, my wife prefers the peacock.

Go to a very upscale restaurant, the theater, an opera or join with your local LGBTQ center to find other CD's to go out with.

you sound pretty much like my wife and every GG I know...they all bemoan the fact that they own pretty 'dressy' dresses but don't have any place to wear them

I don't go "out", but I often hit the post office or the ATM or the gas station in the middle of the night in cute stuff.

I'm waiting for the Bruce Springsteen in dress, fishnet, and heels pics....

So, how did he look in a dress, fishnets, and heels? :)

Probably wore them while singing "Glory Days" would be my guess - LOL!

The best answer is: Do something you already like to do, but do it in a dress.

Recently, I became brave enough to go to a church about an hour from my house. The people were nice to me even though they were not an organization declaring themselves as "affirming". People welcomed me back and remembered my name. One lady sat with me. I've been hugged there. And, it's church, so it is wholesome.
I have gone to a ballroom dancing event in a nearby town. I have gone to a swing-dancing event closer to home.
I LOVE going grocery shopping while dressed pretty.
