Probably one for us closeted dressers rather than the full timers?.I?ll go first

In my early 20?s I stayed over with my then girlfriend at her parent?s house. The next morning everyone left for work and I had the place to myself for a while. The urge came on strong. I squeezed into some of my girlfriend?s discarded underwear and a pair of her heels but my breath was taken away by an exquisite ball gown in her wardrobe that she had bought for an upcoming event. I couldn?t resist it. I had to try it on. It was way too small for me but I didn?t care. I felt euphoric and looking at my reflection in the mirror I thought that I was pulling it off quite well until I leaned forward and heard something snap.

To my horror I?d burst the zipper, pulled it clean apart. I struggled my way out of the dress and inspected the damage, my heart racing, my hands shaking. I had no way of repairing it and no time to even try. I was bound to be busted. I?d lose my relationship and be ?outed?. This was the 1980?s and gender fluidity was only just being invented ! All I was able to do was return the dress to its hanger and put it back in the wardrobe and hope that I?d think of something and somehow be able to bluff it out.

As the event for which the dress had been bought came closer I became more and more anxious. A day or two beforehand my girlfriend called me. She was furious. Her dress was damaged. There was no time to repair it and she blamed?..her sister ! She assumed that she must have tried it on and broken the zipper and then put it back in the wardrobe and not even had the decency to let her know. To my eternal shame (but sheer relief) I sat back and let her sister carry the can for my indulgence and misdeed.

Time heals and there wasn?t any lasting damage to their relationship but should our paths ever cross again I will try to make my apologies to both girls.

That is quite the adventure, Tamsin! I would not have been able to resist a long, flowy dress like that...they are my "thing", haha! I've experienced that dreaded "pop" on garments before...when the fit is "close-but-not-quite-there"...My heart would have been pounding the whole time.

I'm interested to know what she would have thought about the breakage, had there been no sister in the household to take the fall...

When I was 13, I got fully dressed and dolled up before bed - pretty white bra, cheetah top, cute skirt, pantyhose, makeup and all. I overslept, and awakened to my dad pounding on the door (the lawn needed mowing). I got undressed and packed away in record time!

As a teenager I tried on one of my mothers full length black slips. When the time came to remove it I couldn?t. Eventually I tore it and put it back in her wardrobe. Nothing was ever said.Another time I tried on a dress in a shop. A lady came in with her husband while I was in the changing room. They stayed for what seemed like an eternity. Probably only a few minutes before I changed back to drab and departed.

I was probably around 9 and mistakenly left one of my sisters bras under my bed. My other sister (3 yrs older) saw it and asked why it was there. I think I just froze and she very nicely let me off the hook by making up some excuse. Nothing more ever said but I kind of have a feeling that with all the trying on I did with 3 older sisters stuff (and mom?s) they probably had/have an idea.

My mother caught me with one of her slips in my room, and yelled, "What are you doing with my slip?" I made up some lame excuse, and she let it go. I seriously doubt if she was fooled. Now, every time I put on a slip I think, "Not your slip Mother. My slip!" I still love wearing slips.

In another vein, I love these getting caught or almost getting caught stories. It?s easy to get caught. Why do we take the chance? Because crossdressing is important to us. It?s important to me. I?m sad about all the years I was ashamed of it. Today I?m brazen about it. This is me, it?s who I am, and I make no excuses for it.

My closest shave was when I was much younger. I was still living with my grandparents at the time and I was doing a small photoshoot late at night and was fully dressed up and everything. As I was taking photos, I heard the chair that my grandpa was sleeping in start to move. My heart began to race as I realized he was getting up for a late night snack. I turned all the lights off, stripped down naked, then laid silent on the couch in the dark living room... hoping he wouldn't notice. Thankfully, he walked around the room to get his snack, have it, then walked around to go back to bed. I couldn't imagine how I would explain things where I was laying butt naked on the couch and have all kinds of girly things stuffed between the couch and the coffee table.

I've been almost caught a few times. A memorable one that I've shared previously was when knowing that wife and MIL were safely out for the day,
I indulged in some long awaited pink foggery. While enjoying my prettiness in the mirror by the front door I heard key sounds and bounded for my closet and peeled like a banana.
Turned on the shower and music while locking the door right as there was a knock. "Just me. Forgot mom's sunglasses. See ya later."

I've told this before, but, my closest shave was when I tried on my sisters wedding dress! I had waited for an opportunity to get the house to myself as I was determined to wear it and knew I would have limited opportunities. Anyway, I was admiring myself in the mirror wearing the dress, when suddenly I heard a knock at the front door, initially I froze on the spot and didn't know what to do, then heard another knock which jolted me into action, in no time I'd slipped off the dress, threw on my clothes and answered the door it was a nosy neighbour dropping off a wedding present for my sister, had I not answered the door, I'm certain she would have went snooping, looked in the windows and caught me I went back to my sisters bedroom and made sure everything was neatly put back in it's place, my mom and sisters returned about 30 mins later. I never did get the another opportunity to wear it again, it was a gorgeous dress and to this day I still can't forgive that neighbour for interrupting my one chance to wear that dress. At the time I often wondered had she seen me, but, if she had she wouldn't have been able to keep it to herself.

As am American GI, I went to a barber in Korea to get the full service. Shave, haircut, manicure, massage, the works! The shave was so close that it felt like two layers of skin were scraped off with my whiskers. My face was on fire for nearly a week.

Oh, not that kind of shave. I was house sitting for a few days, just visiting twice a day to check the house and feed the cat. The third morning, I looked in the closets. The lady was not my size in clothes but she wore my shoe size. I was in a hurry so I decided to wait for another day. As I was locking up, she arrived several days early from her trip. Had I tried on shoes, I would have been caught in her heels.

About 5 or 6 years ago........ (times are approximate)

06:30 - Wife leaves home and drives to nearest station.
06:45 - I start to dress.
07:10 - I'm fully dressed.
07:15 - I hear a car coming up the drive. It's my wife coming back home as all the trains in to London have been cancelled.
07:20 - Somehow I've managed to get changed and hide my items in the en-suite.
07:30 - Look at my mobile and see that my wife messaged me at 06:55 to say she was coming home. My mobile was still on 'do not disturb'.

Still not sure how I managed to get away with it.

About 3 months ago.......

Got fully dressed and headed out for a drive to the coast.
Left the house via the garage / car ports so that no one could see me.
Drove back home still fully dressed.
Arrived home and got lazy and complacent. Parked on the drive outside the house and entered via the front door.
Had only been in the house for what seemed like 30 seconds and the door bell rings. It's my Mother-in-Law. She came round on the off chance to drop of some plants and shopping.
I managed to get changed before answering the door claiming I was in the toilet. I assumed she must have seen me walking up to the house, but didn't say anything.
Checked on CCTV afterwards and she missed seeing me by seconds.

That was way too close for comfort due to my own laziness and stupidity.

Plenty of lessons learnt from both incidents.

My days of going out of the house dressed are over.

I've mention this several times. In early 1960's it was a terrible time for a male to be anything but a totally straight guy. My only source of women's clothing was my mother's. What I was able to once wear, I outgrew. One day I was still trying to try on my mother's sole black bra and I broke one of the straps. Terror struck. All I could do was to fold it and put in back. Nothing was ever said, but mom and dad did their best to "catch me in the act." I often wonder why they never confronted me since I was their target.

it was about 15 years ago, I was out in Manchester walking down Canal street, I was fully dressed and out for the weekend, and coming in the opposite direction was the guy I work with !!!!!, so I thought just carry on. He walked right passed me, our shoulders where inches off touching, but fortunately he never even gave me a glance. Now I dont even bother, I just go out whenever I want, not really bothered if Im clocked or not, my wife and most of my close friends know, so not going to shock anybody close to me.

It's amazing how quickly you can change back and hide clothes in situations like this, but, the absolute panic in that moment is unreal and there's always a nagging suspicion that I've left something out or was seen even though I know I haven't.

It was over three years ago. My wife was at a client until 1:00, meaning she wouldn't be home until closer to 1:30. I took advantage of the situation and dressed up, trying to work with makeup, eyeshadow, and false eyelashes. I liked how I looked and debated going for a drive. It was close to 12:30 and I decided to head to the bathroom to change and get cleaned up. I no more than get in and I hear the wife coming in the side door! I strip off the outfit and wash up, but realize my makeup and stuff is laying around in the other rooms. When I come out braced for the question, "What's all this?" I brush it off with having 'way too much time on my hands,' and curiosity about what I would like like as a woman. She didn't see any of my outfits (not many at that time) but did notice a wig and pair of shoes. I was braced for having 'the talk,' but waited for her to initiate it. It never happened.

To this day I don't know how much she knows or suspects about my 'peculiar pastime.' There have been minor slip-ups like a pair of panties in my wash load, but nothing ever said. I've had a few close calls since then, but nothing that required any explanations.

This early shave left razor burn. My sister was in ballet. One night I found her tights and leotard. Slipped into their bliss and wondered around the house in the middle of the night while every one slept. Eventually I laid down in bed an fell fast asleep. That morning I was awoken to my mother standing at my bedroom door saying get up and take that off, it?s time for school.

The rest of that morning is a blur. Mom never said anything to me about. She must have know something was up by the way I was always rifling thru her drawers. No matter how you try to put things back as they were.Mother always knows.

Just before the pandemic, I was using women's trousers and/or blouses to go to work, expecting them to be ignored as being from the opposite gender. Some of those days, at lunch time, I went to the parking lot and, while in the car, completed the female outfit with sandals, wig, accessories and make-up, then went to some mall or store to find more clothes at sale time or for a simple and relaxing walk.

One of the latest days, I did all the above but also changed my jeans to a denim skirt, and drove to an exclusive and small shopping center. That day I parked some streets away because it was a nice day and I wanted to walk. When I was almost in the main open entrance, I saw that a few meters in front of me, walking to the same place, was a friend that also works with me and saw me using that blouse (as a shirt) during the morning. I walked fast into the shopping center and run into a store to hide. I don't know if he recognized me, but he never said a word about it.

My first opportunity I got I went for it, when it was time to take it off I couldn?t get my hands out of the sleeve. I guess my hand sweated and swell, I did everything in my power to take it off, over my head and pulling it in every direction. Well my wife came home and there I was at the edge of my bed wearing only pantyhose and a bra and her yellow dress bundled up in front of me. She was confused why I was just sitting there guilty until I explained I couldn?t get the dress off. Thank goodness she found it funny and couldn?t stop laughing.

I have 2 close shaves. The first was one time I was at my father?s house and I stayed in the finished basement. I had fallen asleep on the sofa wearing nothing but panties on. I had heard my father yell my name from the top of the stairs and say he was coming down. I quickly threw a blanket over me and faked sleeping again. Another time was when I was fully dressed and my mother wasn?t home yet she wasn?t supposed to be home until around 830 or 9 o?clock she had a work event. I was leaving the bathroom and heard the front door open early than I expected. I had jumped into bed and covered myself up as best I could so she couldn?t see what I was wearing in case she came into my room to let me know she was home.

I dress to the T in a long haired wig, mini dress, hose, and heels. We go to this little bar and sitting in the corner having a good time when some one at the end of the bar buys me a drink. I turn to see who the person was and OH MY GOD!! It was my Commanding Officer!! About that time my gurl friend hollers "sorry, she is married" and he waves and leaves to the other end of the bar out of our sight. We chugged down our drinks in record time and got out of there fast enough to roll the carpet up behind us.

That's hilarious, I can well imagine the panic setting in as you tried to get out of the dress, we've all been there, some of us just got away with it, others not so lucky. What a scene for your wife to come home to lol!, at least she took it in good spirits, other wives wouldn't be as forgiving! Did she know you dressed up before that incident and how does she feel about you dressing now?

I was working alone in the office in the evening dressed as you would all like to dress for the office obviously, when I saw a glimpse of a popup message on my computer from my employee: "I will be in the office in a minute to pick up something".
Without thinking, I went from quiet time in the office to frantic undressing in a second. Luckily I didn't have makeup on, unluckily my corset was sitting tight around my waist. I just removed the first layer of clothing, a wig and breast forms leaving all underwear on, put on my trousers, shoes and a T-shirt.
It was really one minute after this message when he tried to open the door. I unlocked the door and went back to my desk. He could saw my corset white laces hanging from under my T-shirt when I was heading to my desk, but hey... men can wear corsets if they have some back problems, no?

I did get caught once by my ex-wife but, that's another story...As far as near misses, there have bee a number of them but, the absolutely closest to getting caught was...I was about 23 years old, and visiting a 32 year old friend of mine for a week. He had a business meeting he really couldn't take me to. So, he said he'd drop me at his Mother's home, she was out of town for two days...There, I'd watch TV, read, relax, do whatever, and he'd pick me up after the meeting. I asked how long the meeting was, he said "Probably 3-4 hours". I should also add, his Mother was one of the most stylish women I'd ever come across...So, of course, the first thought I had was, 3-4 hours is great! I'm going to raid his Mom's closet!

I sat at Mom's makeup table and went to town. She had a full compliment of every makeup product imaginable. I finished my face, opened her closet and began my own fashion show...You know how this works, one outfit at a time, make sure the hanger stays out and upright so you know exactly where to put everything back. Catalogue it as you go. I was probably on the sixth or seventh heavenly dress when suddenly, the phone rang at his Mom's home... "I tried you on the cell phone, I didn't get an answer, the meeting broke up early...Hopefully you'll hear Mom's machine, I'm on my way back, I should be there in about fifteen minutes" YIKES! The dresses went back, the underwear was placed carefully in drawers, the heels found their places. Then, a mad dash to the bathroom to wash off the voluminous makeup. Ten, or so double takes in the mirror, heart beating fast...I made it!

My friend came in. He asked how it went "Oh, fine, just read a bit" and off he didn't give me any odd looks, or spot makeup, off we went. The next day, his Mother called him frantically. "Who was in my house?!" ..."No one, Mother". "Someone was in this house!"... "Why Mother?" "I found one of my dresses on the floor and a cigarette with lipstick on it" [His Mother didn't smoke but, she did have social cigarettes on the coffee table, as people did in those days, I didn't smoke either, but I play with the look when dressed]..."Come over here immediately, I want you to see this!" Well, needless to say I shrank...My friend told her "Mother, you're being a bit crazy, get it out of your mind, I'm busy, I'm not coming there"...As we drove he told me, his Mom had been having memory issues, so he just chalked it up to that. I ducked a bullet. The issue never came up again. Whew!

Mine was probably a late night partying at a friend's house. His mom was a lot younger than moat of our moms and had lots of lingerie. Stuff that i had never experience or found at my house. I was usually one of the last ones awake. It wasn't the first time trying on her stuff but I couldn't help it this night. One of my other friends woke up while I was in her silk skirt with lace trim, pink matching top, panties and thigh highs.

I was upstairs and there were no rooms with lockable doors. That would've been suspicious in itself anyways. So I didn't have time to take anything off. Arrived, changed into my black pencil line skirt, white blouse and of course had on my favorite panties, garter belt, stockings, bra and black high heels. Our office was small - only 3 of us worked there and my boss notoriously golfed on Saturday and I knew our secretary was away with her bf for the weekend. So, I felt pretty safe in dressing.
There was a young lady who was the assistant property manager, very cute and even though I was married at the time she and I would stop by and chat, usually some flirting, but never anything more than that. Well, as I was at my desk, I heard a knock on the office door (which I had locked) and she called out to see if anyone was in the office. Scrambling, I locked myself into my office and tried to stay as silent as I could!
Soon, after she had called out a couple of times, I heard her come into the main office. Since she had keys to the place I wasn't surprised. What DID surprise me is as I was standing by the door I heard her keys jingling and she was unlocking MY office door. Since I was right next to it, every time I saw the lock turn, I turned it back. She tried several times before giving up and leaving.
She stopped by on Monday morning and asked me if I was working on Saturday. I told her I was here for a while, but had walked down the street to get a coke. She said "I stopped by, but there was nobody here."
I've wondered since that day what would have happened if I had not been so quick to lock the door!

Mine wasn't close I got caught. My wife was having eye surgery in the morning and we sleep in separate rooms and I sleep in slip with bra and panties. And going to take her I have the dog with me. So in the morning she can't sleep and comes into my room to get the dog to take out as I was standing there. That was the first and last time she saw me dress and she ask me if I was wearing a bra

I have a few times I could relate.
But I will share this one here.

My girlfriend and I were living together, (Later we got married, then divorced)
anyways. at that time I was young and maybe not so smart. I hid my stash in
a storage shed we had. She was looking for something one day and found the stash.
That was a tense time. I told her it was an ex-girlfriends. That was totally wrong
at the time. She always had a bad opinion of my ex-girlfriend for that reason.
They never met each other so I guess it didn't really matter. Later on after we
were married I did tell her the truth about that stash. But I am not sure she ever
believed that.

I did finally tell my wife about my crossdressing. Another tense time. But we got
thru it and we were much better off with that secret out. The marriage did eventually
fail for other reasons.

Ohh the things I should have done different. if there was only a chance for a redo.

So i was sitting at home kitchen table underdressed with bra and panties on. Since i had the day off and SO had a full work day i figured i was safe. Not true . In comes my SO and thank the man upstairs i was covered by a hoodie that covered the bras assistance to my cleavage. She said she had to go back out to car so i sprinted back to bedroom and removed the bra in a swift manner and placed it back to where i had gotten it from.
the panties had to wait until i went back to relieve myself and was able to switch without exposure. Closest it has ever gotten although i try my best until my stash gets back into shape.

Thanks to my wonderful supportive wife, I?ve been lucky, but even so, there have been a couple of times I forgot about makeup specifically eyebrows, eye liner, mascara and lipstick. Fortunately, my wife caught it so I ducked into a men?s room and washed it off. 🙄
