When I was in my early 20's, I walked into a Harrods store and bought my first bra and slip, pretending they were a present for my wife. I still have both neatly stowed in my closet. I have not worn either for many years. Other underwear and dresses have come and gone over the 40 plus years since that magical moment, but they still remain.
Is there anything similar tucked away in your closet?

Not exactly tucked away but, I have a jingly necklace that has little clusters of bells on either side of the letters S-I-S-S-Y and a heart shaped padlock that I wear with every adventure.
Custom made in the UK by Auntie ?? that I can't seem to find now. So naughty and submissive.

The dress I’m wearing now. A number of years ago I was walking through the Walmart ladies section and I spotted a mid-thigh length black and white patterned dress, and I thought "I’d look fabulous in that." So I bought it for $12 and I looked fabulous in it. I still do.

Back in the day when slips were made in seasonal colors; pin and red for Valentine's Day, red for Christmas, pastels for spring, greys and greens and browns for the fall, etc I would buy tons of slips. Slips were my gateway drug to women's lingerie. Some of those slips, tucked away, are fifty years old; vintage. Some I definitely outgrew; no longer a size 38 in the chest. Probably ranking in the top slots are a number of double layers slips in basic and colorful hues.

Not really. When I thought about your question, I recalled that I have purged completely at least on three occasions. No old cherished possessions. And I guess that is ok.

So great to hear. After all looking fab is a number one reason for existing in our modern world,

In all these years I have never felt the need/urge to purge'
Perhaps I am wrong/selfish, but being honest I am happy to still have a few of those early memories in my closet.

Sadly, years ago I bought a silk camisole and slip combo. Very expensive. I have long ago outgrown them and the hey are long gone.

For me it's jewelry.
I wear my clothes and nothing will outlast that. I do wish I had a dress from a long time ago. It was my first real dress purchase and I loved it. But it's gone for years now, but not forgotten.
In jewelry I'll never give up the gold ankle bracelet my wife gave me. I will also not let go of the gold bracelet and hoop earrings she gave me. I wear them every day and love them and her more every time I put them on.

Memorise can be so personnel. But you remind me of some stronger feelings. The few thigs that my wife has bought for me over the years. Very special.

My very first dress and heels fill that category for me. The heels ares still my favorite shoes. The dress I don't even like now, but I know I'll always have it if only for the sentimental value.

I have purged many times in the past. I know for sure anything I kept from my 20s would not fit me now.I did retain some nylons . Unfortunately they were confiscated by my mother.

There's a consignment store nearby that I patronize frequently. I usually shop there en homme, but sometimes I arrive en homme, transform to en femme and go out and about with the girls. Everyone that works there knows and celebrates me en femme. I know the owner very well and discussed what would happen in the event of my death. She could come and remove everything in my girl room and put it on sale. That would solve the problem of my wife and/or daughter have to sort through my stuff. I just have to clean up my girl room to make my stuff accessible.
So, under that plan, I keep everything.

My wife gave me a pair of her dungarees before we got married over thirty years ago. Although they are women's, they have more of an androgenous look to them so I can no longer wear them through my crippling dysphoria. But I am keeping them because they are the first item of women's clothing that my lovely wife gave me and they hold a real sentimental value to me.

I have the first bra my wife gave me as a hand me down, and the first bra she actually bought for me. I collected a lot of slips from thrift stores that I can not part from, even though the elastic are broken on some of them I just can't let them go.

I’ve got a job to part with anything, since I’ve started I’ve got rid of about 2 pairs of shoes and 4 dresses
I don’t want to boast but I’ve got about 140 pairs of shoes and about as many dresses, this thing is more of a curse
Than anything else.its a lot of fun tho

Oh yes! Years ago when my wife was working, and I was laid off my job in the winter--I ordered a padded-butt girdle for a feminine shape. This from a J.C. Penny catalog. Picked it up at the store catalog counter, when it arrived. Still have it--too cheap to buy a new one.
I have lots of high heel shoes from the old days at my favorite thrift store. And after a meeting, one pair of tall creamy white heels were given to me by the wife of a crossdresser friend. Too tight on his feet. Still have them--too tall to wear much.

There is a specific corset more of a bustier really. Other things have come and gone as clothes do but I?ve kept that.

Arranging with a consignment shop for disposal of my stuff when I die is a good idea, Steffi. It could even preserve a semblance of DADT.
My girl room is a storage unit. I wonder how difficult it may be to clean out the storage unit of someone who recently died. Or to find a consignment shop that will take both clothes and furniture. The alternative is to have the storage manager dispose of the stuff. They run auctions periodically.

I have purged a couple of times but not in the past 30 years. Since then a few things have been discarded. However my bras and panties stay with me until their use by date is well upon them.

Years ago my dear wife bought me some Hanes RHT sheer nylons, extra long. I was awed. They long ago developed runs, as most sheer nylons do, but I just could get rid of them. They?ve came in real handy as bra stuffers, that is until I got my wonderful silicone forms. Still can?t part with them.

I have an old favorite dress. It is a dusty rose print on an off white crinkled rayon background. It will soon be unwearable, but I will just store it away. I am normally not sentimental about things like this, but there are too many memories with this one.

Definitely my platform heels.
About 30 years ago, before I married her, my then girlfriend bought me a pair of a local brand dark green jeans. As I'm very tall, it was hard for her to find very long jeans, and they really didn't fit well on me, but I liked them and used from time to time. About 15 years ago, I bought a pair of "Wrangler for Women" jeans that were long enough for me and use them in secret as I'm in a strict DADT relationship, and they look and feel good when used with more padding than usual. One day I tried the green ones while in drab and something made a click in my head. I took both jeans and compared them: both had the exact same cut and size. So, I guess that the local brand copied the design, and somehow my wife bought them without knowing they were for women. I still have and use them (with pads) in both male and female mode. If she knew what she gave me as a present!!!

SO TRUE! I still have a white One Size floor-length Tosca of California peignoir set that my wife & I bought together. So many fond memories go with that set that it will ALWAYS be a part of my somewhat meager collection.

I just moved to a new place, so had to decide what to keep and what needed to go. I went full time/transitioned last year, but never really cleaned out what I didn't need any more. Male clothes gone, but I had quite a bit of women's that just wasn't flattering, or out of style that I donated. I did have one skirt suit that was one of the first things I bought, and it always fit so well, so I hung on to it. It was a pretty timeless suit style, with a herringbone print, so its still pretty nice to wear out.

Years ago I found a girdle with garter snaps in a resale shop that looked exactly like the girdle I tried on when I was maybe 11 from my mom's dresser which changed everything for me. Such a wonderful memory and I still occasionally wear it with nylons and love looking in the mirror, brings back memories and is in my drawer, never thought that could happen back then!

Over the years I purged many times before I accepted who I really was.
Nothing was sacred from the bin then. I was ashamed of what I was doing and the person I was.
After I finally accepted who I am and how I prefer to dress. I feel that it will all be saved until my day comes.
then whoever gets to clean out my house will have to deal with the rest.
I have such a hard time throwing anything away now. Even items that will never fit me again.
But I guess if I had to choose one thing it would be my girdles and body briefers.

I have a silver dress that hangs off one shoulder. I think I look amazing in it, given my tall slender with long legs form. It's the first "dress" I ever bought. I won't ever part with it!

About the only thing that qualifies for me is this:
I have an elastic waist, knee length, patterned skirt that I'll probably never part with.
Not so much because it's comfortable, but because it's the one piece that a lady I was dating borrowed and wore while going out with me. Not because it was some "secret" thing between us (or anything like that), but simply because she thought it would look good.
That simple act of acceptance (and dare I say - "normality"?), endowed that skirt with a special aura that remains to this day - even though the borrower is long gone.

This from a J.C. Penny catalog. Picked it up at the store catalog counter, when it arrived.
I got some of my first clothes from the Sears catalog and picked up my packages at the Sears catalog counter. That was a long, long time ago. Sears mismanaged so badly. At that time, they were the Amazon of mail order, but they shut down their mail order business about the same time that everyone else was just starting up. Karmic bad timing.
I was still living with mom and dad, and we weren't a Sears customer. I had to actually buy my first Sears catalog to become a Sears customer.
Over the years I purged many times before I accepted who I really was.
Nothing was sacred from the bin then. I was ashamed of what I was doing and the person I was.
I was (an still am) a packrat. Rock, paper scissors. Packrat dulls purging.

I still have the first items of clothing that I ever tried on. They were my mother?s bikini. About a year or 2 after I started dressing I noticed they were in a box of clothes between the 2 of us to be donated. When she went to work the next day I went into the box and removed them. I had to keep them hidden away from my primary stash while I was still living with my mother. But now they are in a drawer with other clothing. I still wear them from time to time.

I learned the hard way, to never get rid of anything that I cannot easily replace. Having giant feet, hands, and body, there are so many things that will likely only be made in limited numbers, which I will never see again. In the mid 2000's, I purchased several maids outfits which were made out of stretchable jersey from xdressers.com. I started with one pink, and one black. The extra little bit of stretch, makes them a perfect fit. So, I go back to buy some more. NOPE, all they have left in the largest size, is red. So I buy two of those. When they ran out, they never sold that design again. That was over 15 years ago.
So I keep the ones I have, very carefully, in perfect condition as best I can. Same with a few other outfits; the world simply doesn't offer everything in HUGE sizes, well not more than once, anyway. I still have the few size 15 and 16 shoes that I've accumulated over the years, too. The cheerleader uniforms. Had to buy the biggest ones they had.
So much more.
