Somehow I ended up in a conversation with my girlfriend about a leotard my sister used to wear for her dance classes and that I used to sneak in and wear on any occasion I could.

My girlfriend was asking some questions about it and I ended up finding exactly the same leotard online from a dancing warehouse. Same colour, design, neck fastenings, everything.

She said that I should buy it and explore the feeling I used to have when I was young, and see how it felt as an adult, and just treat myself.

It arrived today and whilst I ordered kingfisher instead of royal blue, it was amazing to have that same item again after 20 years.

I can't wait to try it on when the weather cools - it's disgustingly hot and humid right now in the UK.

Great story, I always wanted a leotard when I was young. I have since gotten one and love it but can still remember longing for it and going to ballet class.

A must admit the pointe shoes were a very difficult, painful challenge tho!

I have a bit of a funny story about leotards. In Grade 6 I was to be a prince (unfortunately not a princess ) in a fairy tale play and the teacher asked if I could get a pair of leotards as part of my outfit. Well as it happens I had found a pair in a ceadr chest at home and I had tried them on a few times. So in response to the teacher's question I quickly answered without thinking and said " yes , I have a pair at home". Needless to say the teacher and a few kids nearby had a big giggle about my answer.:heehee:

Good news on the weather front Charlotte. It is set to be a lot cooler in the UK within the next few days. You will be wearing the leotard sooner than you think. I hope you enjoy. I do like the leotard look and will have to try it for myself.

When I was 11 or 12 or so, my sister and I were dropped off at my aunt's house for the day. Our cousin was very much into gymnastics and my aunt & uncle had just had a room finished with new carpet but no furniture yet. So, my cousin suggested we do some gymnastics in the room. I was wearing long pants and a t-shirt and my sister didn't have the right clothes on either. My cousin suggested a leotard for my sister to which she readily agreed. Seeing I was a little bummed out that I couldn't fully participate, my cousin suggested that I also wear a leotard - since after all it was only the 3 of us and no one would care or find out for that matter. As much as I wanted to - and I REALLY wanted to - I was very concerned that my excitement of wearing it would be immediately revealed. So, I declined....

Another time this same, very pretty cousin, chased me around trying to put lipstick on me....I think I was about 9 then but I've often wondered about both events what would have happened if I had let her. :)

That is so cool about your girlfriend. I recently ordered a dark blue leotard and love how it fits and looks. Reminds me of all the girls I would see in gymnastics and ballet that I wished I could have worn. I am sure yours will bring a smile to you too!
