Where's the bass voice coming from?

Last Sunday evening in a church group some lady shared with the group that when she first joined the choir she was wondering where a bass voice was coming from since she read me as a woman. Yes, I was wearing a dress, and have hair beyond shoulder length and a bust. I am the only true bass in the choir, and the baritone is a very masculine looking man.
Feminizing my voice? No way, Jose. Anyway, that would be a lost cause with my deep voice.
