People post on here all the time about flying pretty. And It seems to be that no one has an issue with boarding planes, or showing ID and such. And they seem to be hassle free, and they go off without a hitch.

My question is a bit different. Has anyone done a road trip pretty that included crossing a border. Like say Canada into America or vice versa? And how was the experience at the border crossing with border agents, and showing them your passport and such? The reason I ask is because I will be travelling to the States from Canada soon by car for a couple of days. And If I do the trip solo, which is quite possible, I would consider doing the drive pretty. That is of course depending on the border crossing. So is crossing a land border doable pretty? Or should it be avoided, and not worth the hassle?

Lori,
I haven't done that, but I am sure that would be okay. I have been pulled over by the cops within US when driving pretty. They asked for the license and I was let go. Just have all the stuff handy, in case the border patrol says you need to change, change it in the restroom.
It would be an adventure to cross pretty.

Good luck

I'm not expert on this but my understanding is that they're only likely to have a problem if they were to suspect you were doing it to hide your true identity, being deceitful for criminal purposes. If you're open and up front, give your real details then there shouldn't be an issue.

After all, the border in an airport is governed by the same rules as a land border.

It does sound exciting... and a little scary. But I think as long as your paperwork is in order, and also for the car, then the worst that might happen is they ask you to remove your wig if they feel it's making it difficult for them to compare you with your passport photo. Usual thing crossing a border- be polite, deferential, cooperative, and they won't see you as a threat.

I don't normally wear a wig Nikki. My hair is long enough that I can use my own locks.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you have outstanding warrants.

Personally I wouldn't do so, but it just me. Border agents have some higher power than regular police, and it sometimes not so transparent about how they exercise the power.

Maybe you can have your normal mode cross the border and then find a restroom to change back to the girl mode?

About like 14 years ago, I drove from Tucson to Telluride Colorado with some dresses heels wig and all that in a bag on the back seat,
got pulled over around outskirts of Phoenix, had to explain to the officer why I like to dress as a woman, it was embarassing and lengthy.
But anyways, hopefully you will enjoy your time on bothsides.

That is what I was thinking Ana. That is most likely what I will end up doing. Or something along those lines.

Yeah, sometimes officers are mean, especially at the border.

Switching mode on both sides of border will save your much more time in the lovely girl mode.

Also my personal experience at US/Canada border and US/Mexico border were all intense.
The worst encounter was at the US/Mexico border few years back, in the Nogales which the US officer asked me how I got my US passport(I'm Asian and I was born in China).
He took me to the secondary inspection waited like an hour then another officer questioned me for like 30min before return my passport and letting me go on the way.

Well, regardless girl mode or boy mode. Stay safe, stay happy.

I have gone through Customs disembarking from a cruise and had to talk with the customs officers due to the facial recognition software not recognizing me. Both times they asked if I had a passport and looked at it and after just a few minutes had me going my way. These are US officers so they may be trained better than most. I don't think you will have any problem coming back into the US.

I would guess that you would not have a problem.
But I will say it is real easy to call them and just ask.
I had a question and called them just a few minutes ago.
Just be straight up with them, they will answer all your questions. very simple
Call the border crossing that you will be using.

It is easier to talk to them then the phone company or the cable company.
Funny, call them and a person answer the phone.
