I went to a Catholic Mass while crossdressed (man in a skirt, etc.). I am not a Catholic, so I was rather uninformed about some things. Afterward, I spoke to a nun and her mother and they answered some questions that I had. They were kind and friendly. A 90 year old man and a woman also stopped and talked with me.
Afterward, I went to several yard sales. I was treated with respect at each. I bought a few items. At one yard sale, two women in their 60's were helping me shop through their clothes. They ended up recommending that I go into the garage and try them on. I have NEVER had women ask me to try on their clothes before. That was wonky! :)
It was such a nice, warm experience. I will eventually get some blog posts up about it, but I am slow...

Cool about the yard sales and trying on clothes with encouragement! No judgement, bu curious about why you went to a Catholic mass.

I went to a yard sale 25 years ago and bought some clip on earrings for my very young daughters. The lady selling them gave me a raised eyebrow and a smile. Think she was on to me?

I got a real mink stole at a yard sale once. I got there late and the guy running the yard sale just wanted to get rid of it. He said, "Bid Anything". I wore it once to an event and let friends borrow it for pics. It got into a lot of pics.

Joey, I am glad that'll you had positive interactions. As a lapsed Catholic, I only go for weddings and funerals.

I went to the Mass because, A) It was something to do before 9AM, and B) I am trying to step into other communities and learn, because I am too ignorant of other lives, and C) I have heard crossdressers say that they have gone to Mass and had good experiences.
If the implied question was: "Would you have gone if you were not crossdressed?" ... That's an interesting thought... I think I would have gone in menswear. My other reasons are legitimate, I believe.
I am a man of faith, who happens to also be a man who crossdresses. I go to churches and grocery stores in a skirt/dress. I do not go to bars/clubs. I'm really not all that exotic! :D

Once in a while I'll pass a yard sale, and if there's clothes for sale I'll ask "Is there anything in my size, around 20 - 22?" Sometimes I'll get a very curt and disapproving "No!", most often a "Sorry, no" and at times a "Sure, here they are" and usually a sale is made.
