Let me set the stage. There's this (women's) consignment shop near me that I patronize a lot. The first time I went there, I had a conversation with the boss (R.) about me being a crossdresser, and if it was OK if I shopped there. In particular, I wanted to know if they would treat me like any other girl, whether I was dressed as a boy or a girl. She basically said, "For sure", and she has kept her word. It's my one of my few safe spaces. Many times I pick out some dress or top and I try it on in one of their dressing rooms. If the store is not too busy, I will even come out of the dressing room and model it. There are several different SAs there and they all recognize that I'm a customer and treat me like any other customer.
I also mentioned that I was moving all of my girl stuff to a storage locker, at least temporarily, while I think about culling the herd. I didn't realize how many dresses I had collected and hidden away, but I needed to get a bunch of hangers. I stopped by the consignment store about a week ago to ask advice on where to get hangers cheap. Well, it turns out that they only allow those thin, fabric styles on their rack. But, a lot of women bring their clothes to consign on these plastic hangers. They put these in a box out front for customers to take. When I stopped by a week ago, they said take some of these hangers, even all of then if you want. Saturday, I went back for my third helping of hangers.
When I got there, R. was checking out a couple of women. While R. was checking them out, she was admiring their manicures, asking them where they got their nails done, and how much they cost. I was very tempted to jump into the conversation and tell all 3 ladies where I go my nails done, but I kept my mouth shut.
After the two customers left, I told R. that I almost spilled the beans about where I got my nails done. Then, R. asked me where, because her daughter G.'s nail tech moved and G. was looking for a new nail tech. So, I spilled the beans to R.
I picked up the coat hangers and told R. that I was surprised how many dresses I had collected over the years. I told her that I should have a fashion show. R. replied "Where would you have this fashion show?" I thought that she might be inviting me to have the fashion show at her store. By this time, R. was working with a different customer, so I'll check in with her later to see if she was really offering up her store.
