Boring NYE

My wife and I never go out to clubs or glamorous parties for NYE. We usually end up going to be long before midnight. This year, we invited two couples we know well (and who know Joanie) to come over around 6 PM and sit around our fire pit. We made some beverages and a tray of snacks, and had a great time. I wore a warm sweater, a black denim knee-length skirt, dark green tights, and my short black booties. I had on minimal makeup and jewelry. Our friends came over (one brought his 84-year-old mother instead of his wife, who had had a long day and sent her regrets) and we sat around just chatting for a couple of hours. It's hard to describe how satisfying it was , just sitting around in *my* clothes, in a completely normal situation. I'm very grateful for my wife and friends.
