Can't get Peggy Lee out of my head:
Is that all there is?
Is that all there is?
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is
I thought it would be somewhat exciting, or enriching to spend all the time from lunch to bedtime dressed. I have wondered about it forever. Well, did it on New Years. But nothing, just another normal day. And the chorus continues in my head: is that all there is.....

Ha yea I know what you mean. I had made reference to her song a while back. You can play it on YouTube and get the sound stuck in your head which is what happened to me. I woke up playing the tune in my head. I kind of liked her.

I live a pretty quiet existence and honestly, I do miss those rare occassions when I did get to the clubs. But I am content with going out for coffee or wine later in the day, and dinner in the evening. It may be all there is, but its enough.

I understand, but agreement is not to go out in public where anyone we know might see us. Wife is not doing well, so travel distance is limited and stay options are also limited. Closest to your idea is going far away to rental and where private walking about a bit dressed. Sometimes you just have to enjoy whats possible.

Wise King Solomon asks the same questions that you do. He answers and tells us to find contentment in our labor and to live joyfully with the wife all the days of our brief life. Both admonishments are worded to indicate that both labor and wife are gifts and that we must put forth constant and diligent effort to enjoy them. I find that I enjoy my CDing more when I put the effort to get dolled up to go out shopping, theatre, symphony, gym, garden, laboratory, dancing, dining, and many other things that women like to do. It is something I enjoy and becomes more enjoyable when I work at it. I am king of introverts, so going alone works fine for me, even dancing. Maybe that labor that Wise King Solomon writes about is a lot broader than I recognize.
Your comments may indicate a mild depression. If it hangs around too long, see your doctor. I have mild depression myself, but mild enough that I can overcome it by working at it without meds. My doctor concurs and helps me deal with my depression.

Interesting insight. I've got mood drugs, but don't like side effects. I use dressing instead or just live with it. Not good, but temp fix

There are time when I totally dress up with make-up and my best dress and all and then I will tell my wife "all dressed and nowhere to go". Then I will sit and watch TV or read a book and wonder if it was worth the effort, after all I'm doing the same thing as if I would have been I male clothes. I just wrote about when I have to undress I get a sad feeling over me and at times I can't figure it out because I'm really not doing anything special. So I'm going to sing the chorus with you "is that all there is" but I'm going to add "if it is it feels great".

Is that all there is?
Yes. Is it enough?
Yes. I think that having a dress be my normal, ordinary, every-day clothes is the best feeling of all.
I don’t dress for the thrill. I dress to feel normal. But that’s just me.

There are those in between moments, when life pauses and we look at ourselves and ask that question.
