View Full Version : I think I Understand Now

Man I know how it feels, I think. I?ve been out, as they say, for about 5 years now, living my life in womens clothes. I?ve grown my hair out, no need for wigs! I don?t own any mens shoes. Closest I get to mens clothing in my closet is a t-shirt. So there is my bit of history.

I work from home, which is nice. I used to get dressed every day, makeup and all. Then it started changing, look pretty only when I have my meeting with my boss, or training, or other meetings. I have to be on cam for those. And I really do enjoy taking the extra time at 6am to shower, do my hair and makeup, pick out shoes and then something to go with them. Yes I do it in that order, lol. Rhen jewelry, and a mirror check, Dang I look good! And I feel good! But I have to be honest, sometimes some slip on wedges, always pantyhose duh, a denim skirt, a t-shirt, pull my hair back and carry on days are kind of nice too. Does that make any sense?

Well anyway, that brings me to today. Monthly meeting with my boss and team. Hair and makeup done, black strappy 4? nice sandals, Jet Black L?eggs, black ? sleeve dress almost to my knees, hair styled nice, spent time on makeup, nice earrings.. you get the idea. Anyway, I log in this morning only to find out the meeting has been moved to tomorrow. Man I feel like I?ve been stood up for a date!

So I *think* I am starting to understand why GG?s are so disappointed if we don?t notice something nice they?ve done to themselves. I wanted to look nice for work, and I spent extra time doing so, only to have the rug pulled out from these really sexy (ahem but professional) heels!

So that?s my day so far. Cheers!

But everything I see online about a man commenting on a woman being dressed nicely is "We don't dress for the approval of others, we dress for ourselves", which goes against the idea of being disappointed when people don't notice something?

GG's on this site have said this before as well.

Charlotte, yes we dress for ourselves, at least I do. I wear what makes me feel good at that time.
But, we do love to have the effort noticed. That's just human nature.

If you wash your car, and it rains an hour later, are you disappointed?

Maybe it's the GG / GM mindset. When I wore mens clothes and wore a Tuxedo, I certainly was not doing that for ME. Hmm. Lots to think about.

Must be nice to be so accepted by not only your boss but also co-workers. Yes, dressing up for what turns out to be a non-date is a bummer.

Today I got pretty just for me. And I kinda dig it, even if I do look old.
