I have a question that I think this community would have some valuable insights on.
For some context, a friend and I have been hosting events and parties geared towards the lgbtq+ community at different gay centric venues around the city of Seattle for the past few years. Both her and I would love to host an event specifically for the Crossdressing community, and really anyone who present femme part time. Given the lack of public parties available for CD's, we think having a night specifically meant for them would be a lot of fun.
My question is, what (if any) features do you think a night like this should have? Most of our other events take place in Gay Bars, so for those events there is alcohol, we bring in our own dj's, and there's dancing. Would a similar bar night specifically marketed to CD's be sufficient, or are there any ideas or party features that you think would be good to have (or not have) for a CD centric event? Any ideas or feedback would be much appreciated :)

First off, u need a way to contact your local CD's. I just had dinner with a T woman who sponsers a T girl nite the 1st Sat. in Long Beach, Cal.
10+ years ago it started small, grew to over 300 every months and now is 100 to 200 a month.
She got a gay/ lesbian club owner to let her sponser a karaoki nite to begin with. The 1st Sat. came later.
When I 1st went out dressed nearby it was to a T girl pot luck at a T Admirer's house. I met so many wonderful people there! Not just trans but T friendly folks, too! Including an incredible GG that I've become very good friends with. :)

question for docrobbysherry, I just like wearing the clothes, not going the while 9 yards. I have no interest in T. Would the Long Beach event be something I would be welcomed to attend? I don't want to crash someone else's good time or become an issue. Just looking for a place to go when I am dressed. I am in the IE.
I think others may have similar questions. Thanks

Not sure what u mean by "not going the 9 yards", Jenn? But, years ago I invited a dresser from here to come join us at Hamburger Mary's in Long Beach. At that time some of us met for dinner together at nearby restaurants near Mary's. I invited to join us.
She was a very big man, really stood out, and looked like she only put on a dress, nothing else fem that I could see. She seemed like a nice person when we spoke. But, I could tell some of the T's were not pleased. My T friend later said I shouldn't have invited her.
So, I would happy to meet and chat with u but I'm an outlier myself. Being the only one who wears masks!
I think you'd be fine at Mary's but can't promise that all T's will welcome u.

I'm interested in this because my wife and I are planning a house party in April for the trans spectrum people we know. We have no idea how this is going to turn out, but we feel the current times call on us to do something, so we're giving it a shot.

Sounds like that would be a fun time.
I wish there were some parties in my area.
A place to connect with others like us.

I would love to host a CD party potluck. Don't believe there are many in my neck of the woods. I have gone to some Fetlife.com events and seem to be the only CD at those events. Having a place to get together once a month or so like out in California would be incredible.

Natasha, I'm sorry! I believe Hamburger Mary's is a gay/lesbian franchise chain.
The Long Beach branch would NEVER have pushed "T Girl Nites" if Jamie hadn't convinced the Owner to let her sponser them here 10 years ago!

First you need a secret handshake.
I think you'll need a changing area for many. Secure lockers or bins. Needs to have a good amount of mirrors. Perhaps a roving make-up artist. A photographer would be good. A decision on partners and friends of guest's. There are wires and friends that will want to come but others maybe Leary of that. just to name a few things. I can't wait to see the invites.

Hamburger Mary's is a chain catering to the LGBTQ+ community. and it grew and it shrunk. It hasn't been in Seattle in a very long time. they left perhaps 30 some years ago. Never caught on here. Probably was the horrible location. No parking and off the main drag by about 8 blocks all by itself.

I'd be interested in a CD party, but like some others, I'm CD and not even close to T. I don't consider myself part of LGTBQ etc because I'm just a heterosexual normal guy who likes to wear skirts and such. I also wonder how accepted I'd be, making no attempt to fool anyone into thinking I'm a gal. But it'll probably never happen, so its moot.

The getting ready and possible makeup artist could happen at a nearby hotel. May depend on the scale of the party. That's how I've seen it handled.
You need to decide how open or private it will be. Privacy is important to new our inexperienced girls.

I think you bring up a great point OrdinaryAverageGuy. I very much consider myself to part of the LGBTQ community, but I know that many CD's don't, which is totally fair! I've always felt welcomed and safe in queer nightlife spots, which is probably because I'm queer. I completely understand why some CD's would not feel comfortable expressing themselve in that type of environment.
So much of my social life is spent in crowded bars on the weekend, that I really appreciate everyone's perspective here on what a party should have, since it differs from what I'm used too when it comes to nightlife :).
