Yesterday (Sat) was what I call a LHAT (Long Home Alone Time) day. The SO goes out late morning and I have the house to myself though to about 5PM. So time to get fully dressed but sans makeup as putting on/talking off eats too much time.
I opted to pair a mainly black blouse that has touches of tan with a taup faux leather pencil skirt, heels to match. I wasn't sure if the combo would work but when I looked in the mirror all doubts were banished. My hip and bum padding filled out the skirt perfectly and I couldn't help thinking that this is an outfit that a GG would wear for a night out fine dining. Stylish suiting a person of my age.
This lifted my spirits. Knowing you've (well I think I did) got things right, puts a spring in your step. I know I wasn't going out but it gave me a feeling of confidence. The down side of course is that my situation doesn't allow me to regularly go out and test my dress sense in front of others.
Washed a few femme things, made lunch, re-arranged my blouse drawer then got a text saying a blouse I'd ordered from Next was awaiting collection from a local convenience store. Quick switch to drab to pick it up while I have the time. Home, quick re-dress and a chance to try the blouse on. Nice fit, nice material, keeper.
Few more tasks done to occupy my time then the the clock says time to go drab.
Now, most evenings I get to sit, as I am now, dressed enfemme for an hour or so in my old office upstairs while my SO sits watching TV downstairs, before I need to cover up to go downstairs myself. Saturday I picked out a black fully tailored knee length skirt and paired it with a black and off while leaf patterned blouse I bought when on Helen's holiday a few weeks ago. Still had the label in, quick try on, fits so another keeper. Being quite a thin material I wore a silky cami underneath as many a GG would do for modesty. Black hose and heels and another outfit for that fine dining experience. And the thing is, the blouse was only a few pounds but you wouldn't know it to look at it.
Two in one day. I must be getting the hang of this dressing malarky.
So what's you're mirror Goldilocks moment? That instant when you see yourself and you know you're on to a winner.
