Yesterday after work I was finishing laying my front entrance interlocking when my neighbor ask me if I could maybe help her with something with her car. Her back lights wouldn't work so I found the fuse box and changed a blown fuse. I wouldn't except money so she insisted we have a drink. She told my wife she sees me all the time doing something around the house and that it must be nice to have a handyman husband who does a little of everything. After I left there a friend of mine came by and I put on my coveralls and welded his leaking exhausted. I then went in and showered and I was in the mood for stockings and a full slip. When my wife came in and seen me wearing a full slip and silk robe with my loop earrings just relaxing on the couch. She said that this is unbelievable, one minute I had my hands in the dirt doing interlocking and the next with a tester checking fuses and then welding something on a car and now I was dressed like a princess. She then said "you guys sure are a unique clan". After all most of us here are married and have children and have husband and father roles and we work and still find time to dress and beautify our fem sides. I took that as a compliment and would say, yes we are a Unique Clan. I kind of like that label.

Yes, we are. Among my siblings, I?m the macho man of the family. But inside I?m totally female. I?m proud of both.

I can relate. When other people say they "have a guy" who does that, I'm the guy. My friends and family know there isn't much I cannot do. Electrician, welder, mechanic, plumber you name it. But yes, I sure love to put on something soft and relax. Glad to be among all my friends and sisters here.

I suppose one can say we're a "Jane of All Trades!" Maybe, the vast majority of us are like Clark Kent, except instead of a super hero shirt underneath, it is femme attire.

I have to agree 1000 percent.
Except for the welding part. I never really had enough experience to get good at it. In a punch I could get done things stuck together. Certainly not pretty, but maybe functional.

But beside that I was and still am to some point. "The guy"
And the when I am done being "The guy"
Then I am "The guy in a dress" :heehee:

As far as this handy man is concerned!

I constantly use mine to make sets and props for Sherry and her shoots. Also, to repair, alter, and adapt her clothing, shoes, shape wear, and accessories.:battingeyelashes:
(See my avatar).:daydreaming:

If u r a handyperson and aren't doing that you're neglecting your fem side!

I'm a handyman/renovator by trade and all my work clothes are women's from my steel toed shoes to my company tee shirts, and everything underneath them..

I am constantly told that I am seeking 'my tribe'.
Well I always knew it was here but out in the real world I am still looking.

As I read through this post again this morning, I found solace in knowing that, yes, I am among a unique clan. I am so happy to be reassured that I am OK. So much of my life I was left wondering what was wrong with me. From all my sisters here, I get reminded that there is nothing wrong with me. Rather there is something right with me. Not only can I take care of numerous projects and problems, when I am finished, I can slide into something soft and relax. Now that is the best of both worlds.

Maria, I hear you. Of course others have already voiced their feelings too. Stephanie, I like that Jane of All trades reference. Meg, you?re right too. Get it done, dirty, nasty and hard and then cleanup and enjoy something soft and luxurious. Why the heck not!!

I usually can fix most things, although I currently do not have a welder. Would like one, but not really situated for one at our condo now. My family knows I love to fix stuff. They don?t know the unique clan I am in however. They would be shocked I?m sure, if they knew or saw me.

Now of course Doc has shown my big flaw. I don?t know how to sew. At least not much. I vowed to learn after servicing all of my wife?s sewing machines last year, but have not followed through. On my Jane list!

My welds are hideous and I haven't sewn anything in 2 decades, but today I'll be outside building my deck stairs in a miniskirt and a cami. Go with your strengths! :)

LisaMarie, it's awesome that you have all-female work clothes! That's the way it should be. Since I work from home at a computer, my "work clothes" are just casual clothes, usually (but now always) women's clothes.

Lisa Marie, does that mean u wear forms, dresses or leggings, and a wig to work? But, about your fingernails?

Well Doc, most of those item you asked about would just get in the way of my work.
I wear capris or shorts most days and women's jeans in the cooler winter months.
MY company tee shirts are thinner material as most women's tees are and they have cap sleeves.
In the winter months I'm in a women's hoodie, or my women's CarHart jacket.
Pretty much my clothes aren't too obviously female, unless you know what you are looking at.
I do wear clear or light pink finger nail polish
I'm always wearing panties, bra, usually sports bras for work and panty hose in the winter months.
Just a funny note here. There used to be a female painter on the job, one day out of the blue like it was no big deal she asked if I wear pantyhose in the winter to stay warm? I told her yes , and she says so does my husband. That's basically the whole conversation on that subject.

Maria, I agree. The more physical labor I do, the more I need to be pretty.

Jamie, I agree. While wearing my make work clothes as a necessity, I find myself thinking ahead of cleaning up and putting on some comfortable soft clothing and relaxing as the reward for my hard work.
