A good friend has asked me to go to a wedding with him as his plus one. He is a good friend of ours and my wife thinks I should go. Not sure how I feel about it, weddings have a lot of slow dances and although I have danced with a few guys when I was younger the thought of dancing with a friend could be weird.

Don't dance if you don't want to. I've been to many wedding receptions without dancing,

Christy, have a discussion with your friend and explain your concerns. Get his take on it. If you're comfortable with what he expects/intends. Have a get together and practice a few dances, including a couple of close dances, and then have another discussion about how you each felt about dancing together. If you are both comfortable, then by all means go to the wedding with him ? and have fun.
YMMV

Hi Chrissy
I was wondering the same as sherry is he expecting you to go as Chrissy or just as a drinking buddy, I assume as you are even thinking of this he is fully aware of your feminine side.
If you go in male mode you'll be asked by ladies to dance if that makes you more comfortable.
How does your wife feel about you going femme? and what of the other guests?
Personally I need to be so drunk before even contemplating dancing and by then it's too late because I wouldn't be able to stand.

If my wife thought I should go I'd be picking out my dress, not wondering about slow dances.
Wear comfortable shoes so you can dance, not those typical "sitting shoes" that are gorgeous for the ceremony and killers for the dance floor.

With your wife?s approval I would be out dress shopping and looking for the perfect accessories and like others have said a very comfortable pair of low heels. How fun!

You will be fine. There is no obligation to dance.
Not sure why, but I have always thought that dancing was a peculiar behavior. I have never understood the motivation.

It appears your friend and wife are comfortable with you attending as Chris but have you given any thought to whether the bride and groom will be comfortable with Chris attending on their special day? If they are then go for it and have fun.

According to him, the bride is his cousin and he says they are fine with whoever he brings. And I plan on dressing appropriately as not to stand out.
