Are there any stereotypes about crossdressers that you're tired of hearing?

Yes I am so tired of people assuming I am gay because I cross dress. I am a basicly straight person however there have been a few encounters when I was dressed and was picked up by a couple. I have had more sexual encounters when dressed then when I was in total male mode.

Sticks and stones. Some people hate themselves so much that they have to say hurtful things to anyone that is different then them. Personally I don't really care what a stranger has to say about me.

For some reason two standout for me when I hear someone say Crossdressers are SICK AND DISGUSTING I have to admit that bothers me. But as a crossdresser I have developed thick skin.

There are a number of 'influencers' that I follow on You Tube and I used to read the comments.
I got so sick of reading all of the haters saying we are mentally ill and that we should all die.
God will strike us down and things like that.
I have been trolled only once but I rarely read the comments now.
We are just humans trying to live a quiet life. Well most of us anyway.
As to attacking women in the bathrooms there are so many cases where it was a male not a CD or TS.
I know we are all males but you get what I mean.
We revere the women we long to be so why would we hurt them?

I hate being thought of as one of those people who easily get triggered. I'm really down to earth.I'm pretty okay with just about anything. I don't need to tell you my pronouns. I may correct you, but I can handle whatever you throw at me.

I, too am tired of automatically assumed to be gay, especially here in the Midwest. I don?t really care where one falls on the spectrum. Go for it. My sense is many that protest, probably dress to some degree. As Shakespeare said, Thou protesth too much.

Many of us use the term "sissy". I recognize many of us are reclaiming the word and put a positive spin on it, but to me the stereotypical connotations that this word projects does not help our community.

I hate the word ?sissy? because it implies weakness. I?m not weak.Neither are most of you. On this site we have Soldiers, police officers, firemen, EMTs, I could go on and on. Wearing female clothing is one of the strongest things I?ve ever done. I don?t cross dress because I?ve ?failed as a man.? I?ve done just about every macho thing you can think of, and I was good at all of them. I crossdress because this is how I?m supposed to look, like a strong independent woman.

That I think of myself as a girl or lady, I'm a guy no matter what I'm wearing, nothing can change that. If I suddenly grew boobs I'd still be a man, although a happier one.

And "sissy", I think of a sissy as a weak man, not a man in a dress. This goes back to my childhood when bullies would call me sissy to put me down, I was wearing perfectly normal boy clothes back then but they were calling me weak and puny.

When I came out to a few people in the beginning they always asked ?do you want to be a woman full time?? At times I have thought differently from time to time. But the answer is always no. And now when I come out to friends about my cross dressing I start by saying ?no I don?t want to be a woman, I just like wearing some styles of your clothes.? Then they ask their other questions afterwards.

I don't like the current stereotypes of anyone on the m2f trans spectrum either being a potential rapist trying to gain access to women only spaces or wishing to cheat at sport.

I have to agree with those who dislike the terms gay and sissy. There have been times when I wanted something I saw on Ebay but refused to purchase it because the seller said it was for "sissies."

Someone mentioned that "girlie" was offensive to them. I differ. There are times when I like to wear girlie things that are more feminine than plain women's clothing... you know, lots of lace, ribbons and ruffles.

Maybe we should distinguish between stereotypes and honest misconceptions. Thinking crossdressers are mostly gay is more a generalization, probably due to the fact that most people learn about them through representations in media, with characters (such as in drag shows and countless shows and movies) that are very often gay. So women discovering their husband is a CDer have a lot of reasons to fear he may leave them for a man (I'd also dare saying, from personal experience, that this site does little to reassure them, object if you like, but in my situation that was, and probably still is, a contributing factor to my wife's insecurity with CDing).

Like most of us, I dislike the thinking that because we crossdress that we are gay, we are sissies or that we are transgender and that we all want to have our male parts removed.

I hate when people comment about cross dressers all being gay or trans as I am neither. Also, I know there are some out there who believe we must be pedophiles. In reality, while some of us are trans, and some of are gay, I suspect the largest percent are simply men who enjoy wearing, and dressing in, women's clothing and makeup.

Lacy pj - all my panties and bras are lace. I have several dresses with lace sleeves and/or bodices. To me, nothing says "feminine" any better than lace and ruffles.
