Had a good appointment with my endo in Kernersville, NC on Tuesday. I relayed the message from my cardiologist that he saw no problem with restarting HRT. (I WILL get yearly EKGs, though!). She sent in prescriptions for estradiol and oral progesterone. We switched to oral progesterone after I voiced a concern about injecting medroxyprogesterone. I inject the estradiol as that seems to work better for me and my insurance is ok with it.
I’m so glad!

Charla, congratulations on being able to resume your HRT. May that regimen continue w/o any cardio contraindications.
Good to know there is a TG-friendly Endocrinologist in Kernersville.

Hi Charla,
That sounds great! Especially having insurance cover injectables!
Good luck!
Marion.

Hi Maid_Marion,
My insurance is Medicare and AARP for the supplemental part. It is nice that insurance covers it! Medicare considers estradiol pills to be a high risk medication, but injectable EV was acceptable. 5 ml of estradiol valerate costs $5 and at 0.2 mls per injection every 2 weeks, it lasts about 25 weeks.
