View Full Version : Have you ever had one of those days where everything's wrong with your makeup?

As above.

I was out yesterday to attend a concert. Before that, I was at a mall having dinner and decided to shop for a bit as I was early.

Realised I forgot to bring my lipstick for a touchup after my meal and my lipstick was 80-90% gone, leaving just a patch of lip colour in the corner of my mouth.
I went to the toilet and realised that my mascara smudged under my lower eyelid of my left eye and my falsies on my right eye was coming off and I didn't have glue to glue it on.

And that's not the worst. On the way to the mall, there was a sudden downpour with strong wind and my wig got really REALLY messed up. I was brushing furiously and trying to get it to look normal again but all I did was shed about 10-15 strands of hair. I looked like a mad woman with crazy hair with wig falling off, 10% of lipstick left, smudged mascara under my left eyelid and falsies falling off on my right eye.

I usually pass pretty well. But not with all the disastrous happenings yesterday. I was clocked and given rude stares wherever I went. I usually don't get this. It just wasn't my day. To make things worse, I had a plastic bag with groceries with me during the concert and there was hardly space to put the plastic bag down. And any micromovement i made made the plastic bag crinkle. I had to hold my breath. But try as I could, it would still crinkle and at the end of the first act, I was told off very rudely to shut up with my plastic bag by a man even though i'm trying so hard not to move at all and breathe as little as possible. There was simply no space to put my plastic bag of groceries down.

Have you ever had one of those days where your makeup and/or wig just went wrong? It's really frustrating.

Makeup going crazy is bad but when your wig goes crazy, you're screwed.

I managed to fix my wig and get it looking nice again when I got home, but it was too late. I looked like a trainwreck for 6 hours outside with people staring rudely at me.

If everything goes right, I get get m slap on in about 35 mins, but oh my day , one small smudge, I think easy peasy I can correct that, it then becomes a bigger smudge !!, so I always give in at this point wash it all off and start again. Rather than waste time trying to put it right, easier to start with a clean slate and saves time.

The number of ties I have suffered fall out around my lower lids and cheek bones.
I do tap off all the time but it always happens when you are looking for that special look.
More often it is the black eye liner powder and that makes a mess.

That's how we learn and get better. It's the bad times that make us more prepared to make them better next time. In the early days every new technique I learned was actually a mistake.L o l I remember doing things out of order and saying, I didn't mean that, but it worked better now I'll do it that sequence. I always start with my eyes. Then I can clean up any fallout before I do my foundation. I didn't always start doing it that way.

Clarissa, I can never get my eye makeup correct. It is more than just one of those days, it is every day. Last time I went out, I did my lipstick in one color before leaving, but brought a different color in my purse. Stuff happens.

It happens. Nothing dramatic, but I remember looking in the mirror and being puzzled by what I was seeing. My makeup just seemed lacking. Then I realized I had forgotten mascara.

Hi Clarissa,
I feel your pain. This seems like every time makeup is even in the area of my face. From beard cover to eyeliner, brow pencil to contour. I can?t seem to get it right, to me anyways. I?m obsessed with symmetry, and end up chasing it with the makeup tools , to no avail. All we can do is our best, and hopefully just be better than yesterday, right?

Some years ago the wife and I were shopping at a mall and as we parked there was a tremendous downpour. This was before cell phones and apps and we had no way to know if it was going to be a few minutes or a few hours. We just tried to cover up a bit (no umbrellas) and ran to the nearest entrance. Big time fail. I was soaked and so was she, except my wig was now flat as could be and of course we had no towels. On top of that my makeup was running down my face.
Luckily I had brought enough to redo myself and we headed for the ladies room. Thank God they had paper towels so I could dry my hair and face. Then after fluffing my wig as best I could I stood in front of the mirror redoing my face as what seemed like multitudes of women came in to use the facilities. I got quite a few looks as I applied my face but thankfully my wife gave them a Stare from Hell look and drove most off.
We reentered the store and shopped but I did notice some of those women still looking and whispering.
I think I looked too good for them and they were jealous --- that's what I told myself.

It happens. We just need to do what we can and move along.

My wife did me up in full makeup once. It was awful. So yes, 100% of the times I've worn makeup it was a disaster.

I wore a wig once as part of a Halloween costume. It was fine. 100% success rate!!

I'm pretty sure EVERY eye makeup attempt I make ends up like Pris's when I was trying for Rachael's from the '82 Blade Runner movie.

LoL to many of us the idea of passing in public is nought but a distant dream. A small mishap would be a dream day.:daydreaming:

Oh god yes! I have had so many horror days with my makeup, tried and tried to get it right, but then I discovered the magic of YouTube tutorials😍 completely changed the results, less is more as they say! It?s still not perfect but it?s getting there.
