So who's mom bought them this 1967 "Dress Up Like mommy kit"? Don't even know what catalogue it came out of but I had never seen this before . I know my mother had "threatened" to make me a dress for Halloween when I was 7 or 8 but in 1967 I was 15 so... Anyone get one of these for a present?

I'm guessing it was meant for little girls and not little boys. I looked it up and the "wigs" were plastic shells that evidently had sharp edges and dug into your head .

Neat find. I am about your age. By 1966 my interests were elsewhere.

That’s about the year my mother dressed me as a girl for Halloween. She put me in one of my sister’s dresses and tied a cute scarf around my head. Of course she didn’t know I had my sister’s bra and panties on. I wonder if she would have gotten me a Dress like Mommy kit had she known about them.

I think either my mom or one of my sisters dressed me up.
Funny, a friend whose wife work in retail found this item.

I did. LMAO and I'm not kidding either!!! The shoes on mine were like Candy apple see thru red with glitter in it and those straps were just little pieces of elastic. I wore those shoes constantly I loved that red glitter. Hahaha and the little stole!!
I was and remain far more mod for that strange wig much but the rest was great
I was 4/5 that year half and half.

That's gotta be a cool throwback. I wasn't into girl things back then and the wig is atrocious. That was the Twiggy year and 'mom' stuff would have never interested me in the first place.

LOL ! Yes it was , thank you Bea I forgot to mention how I loved that diamond ring too and I still wear pins like the little flower pin shown . I do it because my grand mother and mom and aunt did ... I have had a smile all day thinking about that little set ! I wore those little red sparkly high heels anywhere , even to get the mail in my pjs or feeding the horses . Clickety click !
and yes even though young I was already determined to marry Davy Jones (or Jack Wild if DJ were no longer available) as soon as I could possibly grow up. My female cousins are 73 ( Im 63 now )and 75 so I copied EVERYTHING they did in the 60s.

No sisters Had to do with Mom outfits She was from Olde Country just basic But did have a glittery brown dress that had the zipper on the side easy to zip up And a black Persian. Lamb coat Shoes never Fit but I loved wearing that outfit Should have told her it was the real me daughter she never had

I turned 12 in '67. I wanted to be Davy Jones. Given a choice, though, I really wanted to be Illya Kuryakin from Man from U.N.C.L.E. There was also Combat with Vic Morrow and Rick Jason... I can still hear the announcer giving there names each week. That was before I knew what Viet Nam was gonna be a few years later. They stopped the draft just before I turned 18. Talk about a throwback...

Bea, too funny about the Man from Uncle reference . Back at that time when I was the same age as you when I played with my best friend I was the Illya Kurykin character because I had blondish hair. It was also when no one thought anything of kids that age playing outside when it was dark.

All that for only $3.99!
I asked google... $3.99 is over $40 in 2025. That would make it several hours pay for many people.

That kit would have made a fabulous birthday gift when I was 7 or 8.
