My last GF asked me, "Why would a man want to wear a dress?"

How would you have answered this question?

Because they're pretty, and sexy, and it feels so good when worn with nylons and heels.

Because it's taboo.

Because men have worn dresslike garments throught history. It's just another link in the chain of fashions.

To make people ask silly questions like that one. :D

etc... etc...

I would have answered "Why do you like wearing dresses ?"

Assuming she did, of course.

For the Comfort of course! Also for the colourfulness. Also for the better fit! Why shouldn't men wear women's clothes? Women wear men's quite often!? Why should men be called things like gay merely because of wearing women's clothing? Women aren't called gay for wearing mens clothing! So why is society picking on Men? Why shouldn't men wear womens clothing? If women can express their male side why shouldn't men express their female side? I agree with what another said All in degrees!
Whenever a female dares call me gay and if she is wearing pants I reply Same To You! If a male calls me gay I reply: You just say that cause you don't have the guts to wear a dress or skirt!
I see absolutely no reason for a male not to wear a skirt if he wants to show his feminine side
I'm Nlenro-nu or Nlenro-nu2 P.S. I did a test from Red Book Magazine and I scored 86% Feminine!

"It's not so much a matter of want, but more of a need."

Then I'd go into the spiel of what it means to be transgendered, and having this nearly unexplainable need/urge to were something fem, like a dress. And that when I finally do, I feel a contentment I don't usually feel otherwise.

I would have to say that it just feels right.

I'd respond with, "Because pants are ugly."

It makes your point even clearer if she's wearing pants.

Why is it women can wear male clothes but a male can't wear womens clothes?

I like this answer. But in between those two paragraphs I'd be tempted to draw a comparison to the goth, punk, or biker crowd depending on her acceptance of each. That's something most people can relate to. How they dress that way to express their inner needs.

Mind you I've never had to explain this myself, so it's all academic for me at this point.

Weraing dresses and stockings are simply a way to express my softer side. I can relax and feel good about myself or just escape to another personallity. Either way it's fun.
