Today I completed my on-line version of the Canadian 2006 census. There are only two boxes for gender, male and female. No surprise, not one for MTF, FTM, intersex, transsexual, or transgender. Maybe that's to complicated so how about just one for "other"?

I am a genetic male, diagnosed GID by a trained physician and taking hormones. Checking the "male" box was just too painful so I checked "female". I suppose I may have technically broken the law. Who knows?

I thought as a society, especially in Canada, that we were a little more evolved, but I guess not yet.

Comments on how a transgender person should answer?

You identify as female and answered accordingly. Your profile picture would appear female to anyone. If you are or are intending to live as a woman then in what way would your answer mislead anyone? You did the right thing!

I guess it depends on the level of transititiong. I'm aware that pre-op transsexuals can obtain medical authorities which provide them with limited legal rights in respect to living and being acknowledged as a woman prior to GRS.

As for transgenderists as a whole? I would suspect that you'd have to abide by your birth gender status. I mean, I could legally change my name to a female one, but i'd still be considered a genetic male for gender reasons wouldn't I?

IMHO, it all comes down to whether you have some sort of legal protection (as a transsexual would) before i'd state that my gender was something other than what was assigned to me at birth.

Hi I'm Nlenronu or Nlenro-nu2 I'm in Canada and I was told if I want to indicate my female side on a form yet let people know I'm male that I should put S instead of a check mark on the male spot. As for those females that want to show their Male side they are to put M in the female spot instead of a check mark. Why any female would want to be a male is beyond me! I know one has to be careful to show their trueself in Canada it they are too open one winds up on pills like risperdol, seroquel or chlorpromozene.. All these do are nulify the sex receptors in the brain. Well that makes one sorta like a zombie the walking dead. I'm far better without the pills although some of society will think otherwise. I wish I could be more open and live entirely as a female even though I don't want a male for a mate. I wouldn't mind a GG for a mate that really understands a male that prefers to life as female and won't ridicule it! Jesus Never insulted Anyone and never ridiculed anyone! Go ahead indicate your gender preference on the form! There is another way OS for OSentsible Male or Ch Chromosomatic Female. You can use those to make things even more clearer. Canadians often make do with forms or items they have for new uses! We step out of bounds with our gender appearance so why not do so with the forms to be filled out too?
