I always use the ladies toilet. Just keep myself to myself. If you stare at others they will stare at you. Go in do the business, wash hands (women always wash hands) and adjust makeup. Avoid gangs of little girls but do not run.

If there's a waiting line I don't use the ladies room!!! And mostly if available I use the unisex family restrooms.

waiting in line is a test and provides a thrill--the possibility of being caught but getting away with it. another way of looking at it is that it's part of bing a woman, and if we don't want to make that sacrifice we're trying to do it on the cheap.

as for getting caught, i was once, several years ago, and unfortunately it was inside and not in line. a patron read me (to a T) and complained at a restaurant. by the time the manager stopped at my table and asked me to come to his office there was a cop waiting there. handcuffs, a free ride downtown, and an overnight stay until my SO who was out of town could get back and make bail. in court, i plead guilty and got a fine and a suspended 90-day sentence.

i was scared to death, with good reason. but you think of funnny things under stress. i was wearing a red shirt-waist dress, and as i was being led to my overnight accommodations i remember looking down and wishing that i had worn my black patent pumps instead of my red flats. there's got to be a message there somewhere.

Over here in the UK in many places the Disabled Toilet or "Handicrapper" as I have heard it called is usually Unisex, so use that.

Sorry about your experience, Esther! It's probably different in every state, but more often than not, I think there are laws about rest rooms in public places that pretty much say you have to use whichever one you are physically, and not psychologically, emotionally or whatever. They're probably written in a lot more fancy "legalese" than mine, but that's the basic meaning. They started making those mainly because of clubs where a lot of guys went in drag, and some of the women were complaining about CDs using their restrooms. In some cases, according to the letter of the law, even post-op TGs are in violation if they use ladies' rest rooms.

Every time I hear or read about CDs using those, I can't help thinking about the restaurant scene in "Mrs. Doubtfire," where Robin Williams's character has two dates in the same place. For one, he's a guy, and for the other, he's "Mrs. Doubtfire," and he has to keep running to the rest room to change back and forth! It's funny for the whole audience, but even funnier for those of us who know how long that would REALLY take!:D

Over here in the UK, even a pre-op TS is given a card countersigned by the Police to permit them to use women's toilets. Now that under the Gender Equality rules a post op TS can have their Birth Certificate and other documents altered to agree with their physical sex the problem would not arise.

However if a CD or TV who still had male genitalia and didn't have the certificate mentioned above used a women's toilet could possibly be likely to prosecution. What would probably happen would be that they would be removed from the premises by the Police if they had been called and warned off, but only arrested if there had been a formal complaint or other complications.

they put me in a private cell, about 6x8, although the entire front was simply bars. i passed down the line of men's cells on the way and i was REALLY relieved when my cell door was locked. my main fear was that they'd just put me in a 'holding cell' with others, and i had little desire to be the evening's entertainment.

there was a formal complaint, and they had me dead to rights and i knew it.

I find that many fast food places have downsized their bathrooms to one person size. Dunkin Donuts or the like are your best bet at first. I have used the regular women's room everywhere I've gone, but not without a little bit of fear. Never been read there but I get in and get out. Boy it sure feels a bit funny pulling everything up instead of pulling everything down!

I am a truckdriver, when my wife and I were going all over the U.S. together, and I would dress, I'd pull into a roadside rest area to go potty, Sue would sit in the truck and blow the horn if anyone looked like they might come in so that I woul be sure and stay in the stall. Before we were together and I would go out driving dressed I'd just stop and use the ladies room. But then it was ussually at night. I have not ever had any problems. hope I never do

If I'm at a casino (like in Vegas), I would go to the second floor which had secluded restrooms. I had the ladies room all to myself and I had time to do my makeup. :)

In NJ, I use rest rooms from gas stations (can only accommodate one at a time) or at Wal-Mart. At Wal-Mart I only use if there is no crowd and I enter carefully and try to listen for sounds. If I hear anyone else, I won't go in. If all is quiet I go in. Once you get into the stall, you're home free as long as you keep you feet pointed toward the door. After you're done, listen for any sounds. If there are ladies there, I wait until they leave and then I quickly wash my hands and get out. If I ever did run into one, I would act nonchalant and then after washing hands, leave.

I cant see that happening here in UK there is no law to say what clothes to wear. A number of pre=op TS took a landlord to court for not allowing them in the ladies they won.
Must be tough in USA!!!!!

A toilet is a toilet! If one of the disabled is waiting to use it then fair enough I would defer to them but as is often the case there isn't even such a person present then I am not going to risk wetting or soiling my panties if a perfectly usable toilet is free and unused and I would use the disabled toilet as most people over here will do in such circumstances.

I have never heard it refered to as an "accessible toilet" here in the UK.

"Handicrapper" an American usage, for example, "All the Stalls in the Restroom are occupied and I'm desperate". "Well then just use the Handicrapper, it's empty most the time"

Hi All,

I've been to the theater many times and during intermission it was off to the ladies room. Standing in line waiting and making small talk with the other women, none of them ever suspected or gave me second look even received compliments on my outfit. Once inside just go to the stall and do your business, make sure your feet are pointing in the right direction, LOL . Come out go to the wash basin check your make up. And your on your way. And always wear a smile.

I always use the ladies room, in shopping malls, stores, hotels, etc. I've never had a problem -- often I just go to primp a little, and check my hair and makeup. No one has ever complained, and it seems no women ever really noticed...

You want to know the legal aspects of it in US. It is not legal. But not enforced. If a woman complained and got the police, then the police would probably let you go outside of the building, if you were nice and did not fight. It is not worth the trouble. I heard of two woman body builders (yuck) that got complaints because some women though they were men, (they were built like men so I understand the confusion.) It was a mess and I believe ended up in suits because the police made them prove their gender. I seem to remember the women put up a fight when the police arrived so the police had no choice but to arrest them.

But going in the mens room dressed up is a problem as well but is legal. You can not win.
The family bathrooms are getting all over these days so gender does not matter.

Good idea to go with a GG.
