I've had a big week this week. I think the biggest week of my life so far, actually!
I visited my psychiatrist on Tuesday. It started off with a bit of a high note, when he said to me, "you look awesome," and then followed that with, "so authentic."* We then continued with our usual discussions about how things were going and any challenges I might be facing. He then started getting pretty forensic with me about how work was going, and who had not been told about my transition yet. I will not go into too much detail, but I will say that work is going extremely well (I feel so blessed actually), and absolutely everybody I know, and even people I don't know are well aware of the changes I'm going through.
He then dropped a bombshell, and told me I could schedule my operations for October or November and that he would start helping me to get my credentials changed to female. I just said, "okay," without any hesitation, but I was a little shell-shocked. It was simply the best news I could have heard! In that moment I was left unable to react, but for the rest of the day I could barely contain myself. I had gone to the meeting concerned that I might be wasting my time commuting, because things were progressing well as usual and it seemed all I would be doing was telling him so. I like to chat to him, because he is wonderful, but in a busy week it worried me I was taking two hours out of my day to see him. Wow! Did things turn out better than expected...
I'm left needing to find the cash to get my operation now, but am hopeful I will be able to, and that I will have recovered sufficiently to have a wonderful December in Cape Town with a whole new beach wardrobe.
I'm still knee deep in doing research about where to get all the operations completed. It's really a trade-off between to fine surgeons. Dr. Ladas locally, or Dr. Suporn in Thailand. I'm not really concerned about the outcome of either of their work as I believe they are both incredibly good at what they do, my thoughts are running along different lines, with me slowly tending towards having the work done locally.
I wrote much more in the journal on my homepage. Direct link: http://www.mascarabrush.com/journal.htm
Talk about a big deal!
