It seems like, I should have lost more in 2 months. Anyone know of any diet secrets to lose more weight in a shorter time ?
(However, I did notice that this levi skirt is much looser than it used to be, however, I would be happier if it would practically "fall off".)
If so.............Lemmie know !!

11 pounds in two months? From what I've learned, a pound a week is commendable. Relax Marlene, you're doing great! And you look great too!

Sharon, you're a naughty girl!
Marlene, you're doing well. 11 pounds in 2 months is pretty good from a medical point of view. It took us a while to put it on - it'll take a while to take it off - the pounds I mean. hehe.
Love the sandals.

Thank you Sharon for those lovely words.
Putting weight on is fun, and easy to do, taking the weight off....well, that is another story. Sometimes a bit frustrating.
But, again, thank you for the lovely comment.

i agree with sharon, you are doing great on the diet.its dangerous to lose too much too fast and also much more likely to put it back on.the skirt looks good on you, your toes look great and you look happy.imagine how great you will feel going out to buy a whole new wardrobe.you are my inspiration,i need to drop a skirt size(or three).kisses

Thank you Jenna and Raquel.
I guess once I made up my mind I had to lose, or else ( like up the skirt size), then the weight started to feel to come off.
However, when I thought I lost weight and doing well, I got on the scale and did not drop 1 pound !!.
After starting to walk each day, and burning calories, the weight dropped.
But you know us (girls) weight cannot come off fast enough.
Patience is not one of my strong points, no guess ( I guess).

I figger (figure) by losing weight, I can get rid of the back, arm, and chest muscles I have received from my early days of heavy weightlifting.
The definition is not as prominient ( no way near) as it used to be, but hopefully it will diminish in time. Difficult to get rid of as you can see in this picture.

Marlene, congratulations on the weight and the skirt is terrific. I wish I could do as well as you.

Muscle mass will only be reduced by specific exercises, not weight loss. If you lose a lot of weight, the mass will eventually turn to flab. Ecch!
Marlene -- stretching exercises or even yoga will maintain tightness while allowing the bulk to slim down. Just be aware that any "manly" use will keep the muscles there. Too be honest, you don't look exceptionally large in the photos I've noticed. Have you ever looked at a female swimmer's muscles? Especially on their shoulders. And they still look good!

Yes Sharon, I think you are correct on the statement regarding the female swimmers. I have heard the same thing recently.
However, the muscle mass seems the hardest to get rid of.
I heard that a a lot of protien and some fasting will reduce this, but not sure.
Thank you for the input doll.

Muscle weighs three times as much as fat honey, so if you're losing flabby bits, but keeping yourself toned, you may not notice a huge amount of difference in your actual weight. What you will notice (and what may be easier to measure by) is how certain of your clothes fit much better, some to the point of falling off :D
Oh, and I can't recommend yoga and/or pilates highly enough, particularly ashtanga yoga - it's fantastic. And if you want an example of a body after ashtanga - Madonna, and how great does she look?! :p

Marlene you could either undo the top button, it'll probably fall-off easily then or you could also attach the vacumn hose to the hem. :D
Seriously though most people who go on the Aitkins Diet have dramatic weight loss during the first phase, as Kew said though I think you notice your weight more than others.

Thank you lovely ladies for the excellent advice.
Tonia, you have done marvelously. I tried the Atkins diet for about a year, and I actually "gained" weight. However, I was doing sort of a combination of what Wenda mentioned drinking a lot of water. I was also fasting, walking, and some light body excercise like sit-ups, etc.
the weight seems to be coming off quite slow, but somehow the regimine is working in a way.
As Lily mentioned, muscle mass is another thing. Very difficult to get rid of.
In this pic with the Levi's I am at 227 lbs, same with the green top.
Coming from 244 lbs, I must say, the feeling is great. More energy.
However, I do agree with Kew, that maybe I am too concious of my weight. I believe she is right in a way, however, the dream of getting under 200 lbs, with the loss of muscle mass would be great. The more diminished the better. I don't dare wear anything sleeveless.
Anyway. Love you all.

I think you girls look great. Don't know if this will help or not, but I remember some guys I was stationed with needing to lose weight several years ago, and they used "Fit For Life." As I remember nothing but high water foods, fruits/veggies, before lunch, and no protien and carbs in the same meals as they don't digest well together, thus adding weight. Real bummer for us meat 'n potatoe lovers. The theory seemed good, brought you down to a natural body weight, and you could eat all you wanted as long as it was combined right. There was a book and video out, possibly out of print now, might try Amazon. Anyway, I hope you gals get to where you want to be, just remember, big bucks for new wardrobes! Oh darn, more shopping. Thanks Bonnie:
Trying the "water" diet at this point, plus some fasting.
Excercise too of course.
The "eating" holidays are coming up soon. Hopefully, if successful, I can resist a lot of the things I like. " Why is it, that the good things are bad for you"? I often wondered that.
Anyway, hopefully, the new year will bring better posts for me, by being down a few pounds., and can lose some of this muscle mass.

Eating the right foods and exercise. I've lost 40 lbs since Aug. 15.
I swim a mile nearly every morning, then do a 15 minute power walk in the shallow end of the pool. At work I walk the stairs once or twice a day. Was walking in the evenings, but hurt my ankle.
I've stopped eating seconds and thirds, much less red meat, reduced the fat and carb intake, eat more salads, stopped getting fast food burgers, bread is sugar-free whole grain.
Besides the weight loss, I seem to have turned my Type II diabeties around.

That is quite a success story Donna.
It looks like, I need to excercise more like you mention.
I have started to jog/walk at least 3 miles, sometimes 4 per day.
Since the last photo posted here ( I was down 11 lbs there) I am down now21 lbs. Starting to feel great, so I can empathize.
Tonia ( Darn!!) every time I see your Avatar, you look more and more beautiful !! Hoaly Smoke !! Keep doing what you are doing.....you look wonderful.
Great legs!!.

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_17_3.gifSounds like you found a solution. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/18/18_3_110.gif And muscle definition can look sexy.
I reckon its easy to lose a lot of weight when one has a lot to lose like me. I was at least 100 lbs overweight when I started getting serious.
I guess I was lucky to be a swimmer because it elongates the muscle instead of allowing it to bunch up from the weight lifting. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_5_136.gif Even still, my arms are bigger than my neck.

I've noted from the show; "The Swan", that they exercise the girls 6 hours aday, six days a week for most of the 3 months. For us remember to do girl exercise and plenty of arobics. Weight training will make us much to masculine. There are some web sites out there that help too.
Danielle :)
