I voted in the wrong section - I'm in the 35-45 in the closet group, but I do take drives occasionally with heels and hose on -I don't know if that qualifies as "goes out in some fashion"or not.

Hi JoAnn, I am in the 55 and over and go out in high fashion. Some day I'll
go out with a bang!:hugs:

allisonrn06.... There are many ways to look at this. I would say "out in some fashion" would be if someone saw you, it would be evident that you are en fem.

I'm in the 35 - 45 bracket, and I do go out, but I'm not "out", I dont think? Am I? LOL. Maybe I need a blonde wig.:p

Not "out" to friends or family.

Guess using In/Out of Closet may not be the best discription. What I am interested in, is weither you go out into the public domain dressed or not.

Yes, you can be in the closet to family and/or friends, but Out of Closet to go out in public en fem.

55 and not going out anymore.
Living a peaceful quiet life at home and fairly good life on the outside but in jeans etc.
That's my contribution to the statistics.
ill be interseting to see the spread of members.
Thanks JoAnne.

That I do and I love every minute of it. In all the years of my...travels, I've only ever had one bad experience, and it wasnt that bad.

Yes, 55 + and going out in some fashion... But only visiting friends, not in the street... I did it once and was so stressed that for the moment I don't feel like going out unless well accompanied...

Love.

the poll is showing a lot of 55+ ... is crossdressing a babyboomer thing or a senior thing?

Let's see what the numbers will tell when the sample will be larger. So far there were only 47 answers.

As a former statistician, I can however say that we will only have a representation of those x-dressers who are on this forum. Sounds a trivial statement but we have to remember that many x-dressers don't participate to discussion forums so for those we won't know their age distribution. Many younger x-dressers are not yet very confortable with it and do not go public, even virtually on the internet.

There was a similar under-representation from ethnic minorities, mainly due to lower participation.

Well I have been found out, I have gone for a couple of rides in the car dressed and been out in the yard dressed, but still consider my self in the closet.

35-45 in the closet for the most part. I think I may make my first trip out soon though.

I also noticed by the poll that the later in life we get there seems to be more of us out of the closet than in it, with the oposite for the younger crowd.

Gawd, Joann, does this mean I have to tell my age? LOLOL:)

55+ goes out dressed and loves it. Even have my breakfast outside on the swing dreased in the mornings.

Very comfortable going out but two things you dont ask a woman

1) Her Age
2) Her Weight

If you do ask dont expect a honest answer.

47 and in the closet. Went out once on Halloween but that does not count, but it was a blast. I would like to go out and am working on it, maybe sometime this year it will happen.

I'm 50+ and I go out quite regularly.

Another interesting follow up quesion would be, if you go out or did go out dressed in the past, at what age did you first go out?

I'm in the 35-45 in the closet category. I'm happy to be in the closet, as this is a personal part of me that I don't feel like sharing with anyone else at this time.

Interesting that the largest group is the AARP's Angels. We could start our own "Red Hat Society." Maybe "Geezers in Gowns."

I like the "geezers in gowns" title. Has a nice ring to it and would probably make a neat TV(!) series. For commercials we could probably have "Grandpa Stroehmann" dressed as "Granny Stroehmann" advertising bread and stuff. The possibilities are endless. Karren could do the "news breaks". Anyone know a good producer? Ericka Kay

I will be 69 in a few weeks, and mostly in the closet at home (wifey knows I am shaved ~ she is too ~ ,wear panties 24/7, have my ears pierced and wear earrings 24/7, have my nails acrylic(ed), my feet pedicured and toenails painted pink, and have hair down past my shoulders). I do go out frequently dressed, mostly in the daytime. (Wifey works, I am retired.) I shop, mall walk, and eat out. I lean toward too short skirts and cute short shorts, but also have a conservative side. But I must admit that most times that my skirt reaches my knees it feels too long! I also have a sequined ankle length evening skirt that I wear on special occassions.

I'm 65 and go out every day, fully dressed several times a week and minus the wig and breast forms on the days I don't shave,
normally every other day. I also wear shorts or capri pants on these non shave days.

I selected 'Out Closet - does go out in some fashion' which is the closest to my situation. I'm not technically 'out' as a crossdresser, but I do wear women's 'androdgenous' clothing in drab mode, always use femme deodarants and have a regular skincare routine which is semi obvious to people.

WOW, love the response. I am starting to see some trends in the polls and these bring up some more interesting questions, that I can put up as polls. Before I do, I would love to see the poll numbers a little higher. The higher the poll number, the easier it is to make decesions on what to poll on next.

Interesting poll. Looks like the older one is the more confident one becomes.Or could it be that men, in their midlife and after, produce less testosteron and become more feminine ? ( i.e. more pronounced breast devellopment, rounder-more female-body shape ) Surely something to think about.
I'm in the 45-55 , going out category and wish I was in the 20-30 AND going out category.

Nigella
05-12-2006, 03:34 PM
Well I can only answer half of the poll, my age:

As old as my nose, but older than my teeth

The going out in some fashion is not me, I wear female cut clothing 24/7, so am out 24/7

This has been a great poll response. 200 people responded. That is a good number for a small poll. Does show a great cross section too. I saved the poll graphics and will soon put up another along the same line of questions.

Thanks to all that voted.

I'm 51 and just returning to dressing after a 16 year layoff. Whew!!! How did that happen? Anyway, I put down in the closet since I haven't been out...yet. I hope to in the not to distant future. I don't know if I can pull it off like when I was younger. And I did go out and hit the clubs en femme back then.

I posted a poll the other day, asking in Age group you were in and if you did not go out or do go out. I now have some data results that might interest some of you. you will notice that around Age 40 is where the two line meet and more start going out than staying in. This what I call the "Mature Age". The Age where we finially gain enough courage to make that first step out.

Well I don't go out en femme and I'm 52, but your theory makes sense to me. Came a point in life where I realized, "I want to crossdress, from the core of my being", and "time is getting short."

Well I'm in the 50 to 55 category and unfortunately will always be just another guy in a dress, not much hope of passing even at night or in a thunderstorm. Oh well, one can always dream:)
